JOHN TAVENER first came to public attention in 1968 when his oratorio The Whale was

premiered at the inaugural concert of the London Sinfonietta. Since then, his music has become

increasingly spiritual in conception, contemplative in its idiom, and popular with audiences worldwide.

In 1977 he joined the Russian Orthodox Church. From the late 1990s his religious interests have

diversified and his music embraces many different traditions: Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam

and the spirituality of the indigenous American people.

Jake and the Right Genie

A musical celebration of children’s rights for

narrator, choir and ensemble/backing tracks.

It’s easy to learn, once heard not easily forgotten,

funny yet serious, lighthearted yet touching: a

parable of our times and for our times.

The chorus of ‘Jake and the Juveniles’ would

have a very good chance of winning the annual

Doveton Talent Contest if only they could get

Jake out of bed in the morning. When they do,

the Right Genie comes in very handy.

This Piano and Vocal score comes with chord

symbols throughout and includes the full text

plus 2 CDs containing demos and backing tracks

for rehearsal or performance. Lyric sheets for

Jake And The Right Genie are also available as
