Copper or Its Alloys, 2019

As a consequence of World War II damages

and post-war demolitions, numerous

buildings in Wroclaw city center

ceased to exist, drastically altering the

city’s urban structure. Subsequent reconstruction,

carried out primarily according

to modernist movement guidelines,

in many cases failed to recreate

identities, shapes and functionalities

of original quarters. The Lost City project

focuses on identifying such areas

through means of historical and spatial

analyses and attempts to solve their

problems while keeping all existing

structures and greenery intact. In order

to achieve that, the author proposes

introducing spatial structures on already

built-up plots. Those scaffolding-resembling

structures would recreate historical

shapes of non-existing buildings

in symbolic and abstract way while,

depending on needs of specific location,

also serving as a base for diverse additional

functions. Master’s degree diploma
