specialize in manifestation. She mentors’ people who want to manifest

Terry Lawrence is a member of the Riverside GSFE and lives in Indio 

CA. He is an entertainer, international recording artist, singer and 

keyboard player, As a child actor in Hollywood he appeared in 

films with Abbott and Costello, Barbara Stanwyck, Joel McRae, his 

television appearances include The Lone Ranger, The Lawrence Welk 

Show & others. As musician vocalist w/ Bill Medley, Tina Turner, Little 

Richard.

Our conference was a big success and I want to thank all our networks who 

contributed baskets for the event. Normally we get lots of gifts from donation 

letters we sent but because of Covid most of the people who have supported 

us this year told us to contact them next year so having the networks do 

the baskets really helped our GSFE network and I want to thank all the

Kelinda Star White has been dancing since the age of three. She 

studies and learns all different styles of dance but, focuses on ballet, 

salsa and bachata. Ms. White went to South Pasadena High school 

and then transferred her junior year to Ramon C. Cortines School 

of Visual and Performing Arts. Ms. White is currently working with 

California Dance Arts Company as a Principal dancer and teacher as 

well as being a guest teacher at other schools and classes. 

Kelinda Star White 

She was also able to compete in dance competitions around 

California, such as Dance Explosions and has won many awards 

such a Promising Future award and has won in group dances and 

solos she has performed. Kelinda has also preformed leading roles 

in original ballets and was crowned Miss California Teen Achieve Jr. 

Queen in 2010, Miss California Teen Achieve Queen in 2011 - 2013, 

Miss American Teen Achieve 2015, Miss American Legacy Queen 

2016 and is currently reining Miss International 2021 with Women 

of Achievement, where she proved her talent by performing selfchoreographed 

ballet pieces. Kelinda teaches people of all ages in 

various dance classes at La Canada, Flintridge. 

She also choreographed a music video called “Love Yourself” 

an anti-bulling song by Audrianna Bartholomew. In summer, she 

attended the Joffrey Ballet School intensive in New York City with an 

offer of a scholarship for the year round trainee program, she also 

participated in Ballet West a ballet company in Utah. Kelinda wishes 

and hopes to continue her achievements as a dancer, teacher, and 

choreographer.

Nadine LaJoie assisted us in discovering the types of people in biz that we should associate with 

based on who we are and who they are. 

The interactive exercise was fun as we learned through this process. Ms. LaJoie is a champion 

motorcycle racer along with her other talents. Wow! 

We contributed approximately $2500 towards our Long Beach basket. 

Jean Olexa did an awesome job decorating the basket. One of our Long 

Beach members won the basket in the raffle at the our GSFE conference. 

Erika White was the winner Erika brings her mother, Daisy along with 

her to the meetings. Daisy is 94 years of age and sharp as a tack, not 

to mention a lot of fun. You can see Daisy is the picture below with the 

performer at the JADE RESTAURANT. 

On June 21st, we will feature the unique * Roberta Bassin * She will 

perform a special rendition of Amelia Earhart. Roberta is a professional 

actress that has appeared in many television shows. Feel free to google 

her to learn more.

The May Menifee Meeting was great our speaker was Kathy Reese and she was great she 

shared lots of tips for us to get our businesses noticed and we learned a lot.

Arvee Robinson, Sue Lopez. Nicole Farrell, Lynne Hartung, Debbie Love, Joanne Groche and

It was great to see Suzie Mierzwik back as she had been on an African Safari she shared this 

great article on her trip. 

Tales from my Recent Safari 

Do you know anyone who has been on safari? Well that’s me! My husband 

Steve and I just returned from our second safari to Tanzania, This was a repeat. 

Our first was in 2017. You are probably wondering what it is like, and do 

people even DO THAT nowadays? I would say it is like entering the world 

of National Geographic or Animal Planet. Our group actually traveled in twin 

Toyota Land cruisers with a pop up roof. 

We were picked up at the airport in Kilimanjaro and escorted around with an expert guide, 

Safari Kay, and drivers who were able to navigate any kind of road, often not much more than 

a rabbit trail. The roads were mostly dirt and covered with huge ruts, often filled with water 

from daily rains. 

We were traveling through various national parks where animals roamed. One such place was 

the Serengeti where every year millions and millions of zebras and wildebeests passed in a line 

stretching to the horizon. This was the annual migration from Kenya into Tanzania, following 

the water. As we drove down the road, zebras and wildebeest scurried across, to avoid 

getting run over by our big vehicle. 

Another breathtaking national park was called Ngorogoro Crater. It is a huge grassland formed 

by an ancient volcano. It was lush green and sprinkled with yellow wild flowers. Besides 

zebras, wildebeest, and various types of antelope, we also encountered endless flocks of

goats, cattle and donkeys being herded by the Maasai tribesmen. We also saw more than nine 

rhino, an amazing record! 

We visited one of many Maasai villages where the people still live in thatched huts made of grass 

and cow dung. They showed us how they make fire by rubbing sticks together. They welcomed 

us with traditional dancing and we were able to support them by purchasing their handicrafts. 

The sense of peacefulness was overwhelming, nothing but grass, and sky and animals. The 

herds were always accompanied by a man or even just a small child. The Maasai were always 

dressed in a traditional red or blue cotton shuka wrap, always armed with a large walking stick, 

and nothing else. 

Herds of elephants roamed the grasslands, often with little babies in tow. At one point driving 

down a dirt road, we were approached by a male elephant who was looking for a mate. He 

was extremely disturbed by our vehicle and shook his head and trumpeted loudly. As our driver 

cautiously backed up and turned around, he calmed down, but it was a heart stopping moment 

for us all. 

Sometimes our driver would spot a piece of brown fur in the distance. When we got closer, we 

saw the “Lion King” stretched out, often with his pride. Under another safari vehicle, a large 

male lion was lounging in the shade. Once we even encountered a ‘Honeymooning” lion pair. 

The cheetah and leopards are more elusive than lions, yet during our trip we were lucky to spot 

a single cheetah being teased by a pair of small Topi, a kind of small antelope. On a different 

day, our driver spotted a leopard curled up in a tall tree. 

The drivers were far more than our means of expert transportation. They were trained at Wildlife 

College, and were able to carry on a running dialog about every animal, plant, tree, bird, insect 

and flower that we encountered. Truly, there was not one question that went unanswered. 

In other areas we saw the classic African Acacia trees, being nibbled at by giraffes. These 

willowy creatures seemed to glide through the trees, taking a few bites from one, then moving 

on to the next tree. Often they crossed the road in front of us, with no acknowledgment of our 

presence. 

In many places we saw large troops of monkeys or baboons. They would sometimes be hidden 

in trees, but at other times would be lying out on the road since it was warmer than the grasses. 

They would be tending to their mates, feeding their babies or grooming each other. 

When we entered one national park to get the required permit, a large baboon jumped up to 

my window, which was open to take a picture. In one second, he grabbed a bag of potato chips 

which he had spied inside the vehicle, and he ran away with it. It was breathtakingly fast, and no 

one even had a chance to capture him on a photo. 

A slightly different encounter came when we visited the many ponds filled with large rocks. 

Upon closer inspection, the “rocks” moved. These were gigantic hippos, some being nibbled on 

by the crocodiles sharing their swimming space. 

Driving through the villages brought another kind of cultural experience. Roads were usually 

mud covered. They would be lined with a mixture of cars and trucks. Motorcycles often carried 

three people as well as 100 pounds of bananas or bundles of sticks for firewood. 

Women carried buckets of water down the road. Others balanced large bundles of potatoes 

or corn. Small stalls selling everything from fruit, vegetables or a string of fish were part of 

everyday life.

Always we saw school children. They were dressed in their school uniforms, walking in large clusters 

but often just one or two small children walking alone. They were confident, and unattended by 

adults. They were always happy, usually waving to us as we drove by. Often a single small child would 

be seen in charge of a herd of goats or cattle. In a village, a lone animal would be tied to a tree near 

the road as cars drove by. 

We had the opportunity to visit the Leaders of Tomorrow Children’s Home. It is run by a former 

Black Panther who was exiled from the USA. He has been sponsoring children for the past ten 

years, enabling them to get access to education and opportunity. The children there were friendly, 

respectful and well behaved. Their devotion to Pete, their “Grandpa” benefactor was evident. This 

school is supported by Safari Kay, Destined to Travel and many of her guests. 

So many encounters with nature. All unexpected and delightful. It was a welcome respite from 

the harried, stressful world of human society. Our tour guide was Safari Kay Trotman, the owner of 

Destined to Travel. She has personally led hundreds of guests on safaris to Africa. As a veteran of two 

of her safaris, we know that anyone traveling with her will be richly rewarded by this trip of a lifetime.

I don’t even know where to begin at this new beginning... on one hand, I’m sooooo glad 2020 

is over... on the other, here comes 2021... and I honestly don’t know how I feel about it yet. Like 

many, I had to make some changes and tough decisions last year. 

My first decision of 2021 was choosing my “word(s) of the year”: PASSION and CHANGE. Even 

amid the challenges, I am doing my best to stay positive and hopeful. I’m rediscovering what I’m 

passionate about and being reminded that change doesn’t equal “bad”. 

My next decisions are as follows: 

• Good Ol’ Gals is NOT closing its doors! Having built an incredible organization that has 

evolved into “the most fun women can have doing business” AND celebrating 13 years in 

December, we WILL continue to provide a platform for female entrepreneurs/business owners 

to connect on both personal and professional level. 

• The GOG Gala, which was to be held at the end of January, must be once again postponed 

until later in 2021. Be sure you are on the GOGs email list and stay tuned for more to come 

• Jordan & Jordan Marketing is still OPEN FOR BUSINESS and will continue to provide expert 

marketing services including a revival of the Marketing Mastery Interactive Workshops If

• The Business Explosion and the Business Women’s Mega Mixer annual events WILL be held,

Dr Marianne Cintron who has a non-profit : Step by Step Dyslexia Solutions published her new

Dr Cintron is an educator and a Speaker. She was introduced to the group by Arvee Robinson

I would like to give shout out to Angel Toussaint, Katherine Orho, Marcy Decato and Gigi Banks 

from Creative Solutions. These girls are a part of the GSFE community. They wanted to see that 

my first project would be highly beneficial to others. I wanted to have a book signing event, not 

only for my book but other authors, Publishers and Graphic Designers! 

Angel recommended that I should utilize my Virtual Business card. I did, under her guidance and 

came up with the information that I wanted to disseminate. Angel would help me to promote the 

event on Facebook. We were on the phone, checking what works best for the dollar amount that 

I had to invest. I decided to go public and this was a great platform! 

Katherine called me asking if she could help me with the project. 

She delivered, she designed what I would utilize on the Social Media platform of Instagram, you. 

tube, Linked In and Twitter. She did an excellent job in a short time. 

Marcy and Gigi designed the landing page and the banner! 

I wanted to thank these ladies for doing a phenomenal job for me in such a short time frame! 

Community, working together for the common goal makes things happen and prevents the 

stress of one person doing it alone!

Our May speaker was Kara Maldonado of Real Bodies Period. She inspired us all! We had a 

record attendance! There were 23 of us! Our wonderful founder Robbie Motter came with 

two members from other chapters-Joan Wakeland and Stone Love. Other members present 

were: Catherine Barr and her guest-Holly Willner, Linda Blair, Suzann Calbert, NanciAnn 

Horvath, Kara Maldonado brought her daughter Reyna and son Ronnie, plus two other guests- 

-Michelle Reiner and Suzanne Tourangeau. Also present were: Rosalie Duong, Aggie Kobrin, 

Pattie Lambert, Jodie Moncrief and her guest Tina Anderson, Karen Pollick, Lauren Powers, 

Iris Rosenfeld and her guest-Gail Waterman, and our newest member Mikki St. Germain. Kara 

Maldonado gave out some great prizes and Catherine Barr won the raffle! It was a great 

evening!

Mikki St. Germain 

Mikki is a a native New Yorker, transplanted to Southern California for the 

past 25 years. She attended Florida Atlantic University, where she earned her 

degree in Marketing & Advertising. She is a certified life coach studying under 

Dr. Shad Helmstetter, and has a health coaching certification through Dr. Bill 

Sears. 

Mikki earned her second degree black belt and instructed for 20 years. An 

addition, She is accredited and certified through the National Federation of 

High School Education as a high school tackle football coach. Mikki has been coaching football 

from pop warner to high school over the past 14 years. 

She’s also an author of the “Got Baggage” series about her journey through an eating disorder. 

Currently she hosts two podcast shows, Coach Mikki & Friends. She invites everyone to join 

her circle of friends each Monday by tuning in on Amazon Music, Spotify and IHeart Radio! She 

says, “Arrive as you are, no perfection needed! We laugh, cry, share and lift each other up as 

friends. We are all unique and offer a gift to share to others.” She refers to herself as “Just an 

Ordinary Gal, trying to Live an Extraordinary Life!”

Our June Temecula Meeting was great our speaker Dawn McCoy Ceo/Founder of the Red Shoe 

Project, Inc in Redlands, CA was great, she is funny and gave us some great points to help us 

soar to greater heights. 

Attending the meeting were:

It was great to hear that Violet Williams has completed her new book more information on the

Next months speaker is Stone Love who is coming from the Bay area to speak for us her topic

We always have a great time combining our meetings with Angele & San Fernando Valley on 

zoom. Our group never ceases to amaze me with sharing from the heart and being so helpful to 

one another. 

Los Angeles ladies pulled together an impressive amount of gifts to fill the basket for conference 

and towards our raffles to raise $ for GSFE. One lucky member won our 2K worth of gifts. Always 

exciting. Several members were vendors for the event including Angele Cade & moi. 

At conference, we had great training, networking, shopping , dining, dancing and entertainment. 

I had my first chiropractic evaluation & adjustment. I felt great afterwards. Who could ask for 

anything more? 

On June 15th , Tuesday evening at 6:30, we will meet again via zoom. One can obtain tickets on

We had an enjoyable virtual network meeting through zoom on First 

Thursday afternoon, May 6th, 2021 at noon PST. 

Sonja, a spiritual practitioner, and speaker with a gift for helping people 

toward success and manifest their dreams. Her topic of presentation: 

“How to Manifest Your Desires to Improve Your Business” 

At her presentation, she shared the 5 spiritual steps needed to move us 

toward what we want. 

1. You need to have a vision, ex. You ask to improve your business. 

2. Affirmation- to affirm positive statement 

3. Pay attention to a present moment 

4. When you give, you need to open the channel to receive 

5. Be grateful of what you have. Have a gratitude journal 

Sonja also suggested to read books that elevate ourselves. Since Sonja’s

On Friday, May 21st, finally we were able to have the GSFE annual 

Soar to Greatness Women’s Conference at The Links at Summerly in 

Lake Elsinore, CA. It was an all-day a successful, great, and awesome 

conference. We have inspiring and empowered speakers and great 

entertainers. A lot of gift baskets and Door prizes, all donated by GSFE 

members and sponsors. Thank you to Robbie Motter, our founder and all

This month, we are excited to introduce our new Virtual First Thursday 

GSFE member, Dr. Nephetina Serrano, Relationship Expert, the Marriage 

CEO. Let’s welcome her to be part of our virtual GSFE sisterhood.

Philadelphia born and raised, Dr. Nephetina Serrano (a name meaning beautiful companion) 

was the eldest of six siblings. Her mother originated from southern region of the Carolinas 

and her father from the Pennsylvania. For over 31 years, she has been married to the love of 

her life and best friend, Dr. Richard Serrano. They share one daughter, Brande. Together, this 

entrepreneurial power couple are co-founders of Covenant Marriages, Covenant Rescue 911, 

Marriage CEOs Incorporated and Covenant Marriages Institute. Through these institutions 

and organizations, they actively counsel and coach couples in transitional phases within their 

marriages and lives. They offer life-changing advice, guidance, and tools to deal with the 

challenges incident to achieving authentic oneness in marriage. 

From a young age, Dr. Serrano had a love for people and an affinity for solving problems. 

She loved listening, and especially treasured listening to stories. As an adult, this love 

developed into a passion for counseling. Through Covenant Marriages, Covenant Rescue 911 

and Covenant Marriages Institute, Dr. Serrano’s shared mission along with her husband, is to 

save one marriage at a time, thereby building a community of strong families. She is now a 

Certified Counselor and member of The N.B.C.A., as well as a Certified Life Coach. 

Dr. Serrano is a national and international speaker, an ambitious and committed trailblazer. 

What you may not know about her is though she is often called to the limelight, whether it 

be in the role of a leader, speaker, or counselor, she is shy. In her younger years, she loved 

operating behind the scenes, and it was in those times that she would get noticed or called 

upon. Today she is no longer that person that sits in the back. She now desires to be upfront 

and personal, boldly seeking information or understanding from those whom she is learning, 

clear of all the distractions of the rear. Additionally, she doesn’t like to sit in the same spot or 

be in the same place for long. She is truly a mover and shaker that loves the diversity of life. 

It has not always been easy for Dr. Serrano and much of her anointing has come from the 

pressing of hard experience. Finding her way during her formative years, she matured into 

the driven, independent, and self-sufficient go-getter she is today. She is committed and 

determined to accomplish all of her goals. Her belief is “Defeat is not an option.” It’s that 

tenacity that has earned her stripes and success that she walks regally in today. 

Currently, Dr. Serrano works for the government on a full-time basis; after that commitment is 

fulfilled, she pours herself into her entrepreneurial business models. She counsels and presents 

workshops, seminars, intensives, and retreats which are specifically centered around intensive 

relationship repair. By way of her companies and institutions, she specializes in helping 

couples to find themselves and assume their position and roles within their relationships, 

achieving balance and stability in life and in business through biblical principles. This model 

of oneness, steeped in identity and purpose lends to more effective modes of communication 

within relationships, helping couples achieve the stability and success that she believes God 

desires them to have within their covenant marriages and families. Her clients are not limited 

to married couples, but also include those who desire to be married and those who desire 

healthy stable relationships.
