About the Student
Assignment Guidelines (Instructor: Dong Dong Huang 黄 冬 冬 )
This piece of writing was written last week for our yearly art writing project. Here is the
assignment to all grade Chinese students:
“You will find a Chinese painting online that you feel connects to you the most and observe
the painting carefully. Then you will write about what you see and how you feel after taking a
good look at the Chinese painting. The writing style is not limited, but, it should have at least 10
sentences. The final version should be handwritten and decorated according to the painting. If you
try to use some words you haven’t learned yet, you can use an English - Chinese Dictionary or
Google translate to find the words. However, you cannot use Google translate to translate whole
sentences. You need to know what you write, and to know how to pronounce the words you learn
from Google or a dictionary.”
