About the Student<br />
Chanel Sun 孙 姝 婷 was born into a<br />
<strong>Chinese</strong>-<strong>American</strong> family, where she learned to<br />
speak Mandarin at a very young age, before she<br />
k<strong>new</strong> English, in fact. Over the years, she has<br />
taken <strong>Chinese</strong> classes outside <strong>of</strong> regular classes<br />
at school, and because <strong>of</strong> that, she has skipped<br />
through <strong>Chinese</strong> 1, 2, and 3 with As in all<br />
classes. In 2018, she took the national language<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>iciency test- AAPPL and obtained advanced<br />
level in her writing and speaking.<br />
In her spare time, she is also dedicated to performing in local international events. For the<br />
past 7 years, she performed <strong>Chinese</strong> dances, instruments and operas in Tulsa <strong>Chinese</strong> New Year<br />
Gala and in Tulsa International Festival for and in South Tulsa <strong>Chinese</strong> School.<br />
