National Association of Accordion & Fiddle 

Clubs - Honours Celebration : 2pm on Facebook & 

YouTube. Due to current circumstances the NAAFC are 

unable to host our annual Honours Celebration 

afternoon and AGM in person this year, so we have 

decided to go virtual through the powers of the 

internet. We announced in early 2020 our intention to 

honour Peter Bruce, Anda Campbell and Malcolm 

Ross. Given we are now a year further on and still 

unable to hold gatherings we will bestow these 

honours online for the entire world to view. From 2pm 

on Sunday 27 June we will host our Virtual Honours 

Celebration featuring presentations, interviews and 

music performances from each of our Honoured 

Guests. The event will also feature a few other special 

guests and updates from the NAAFC. This will be 

hosted live on our Facebook and Youtube channels 

simultaneously and is free to watch. I’m sure this 

online event will prove to be a great afternoon of 

music and craic and I hope you will help spread the

TEENAGE FANCLUB :: At Forum, London. Scottish 

alternative rock band Teenage Fanclub have shared a 

preview of their highly-anticipated album with a new 

song and video. “In Our Dreams”, written by the 

band's Raymond McGinley, is the fifth single off 

Endless Arcade (now out). The song evokes an 

exploratory voyage inward and reflects the 

melancholic yet uplifting themes present throughout 

the rest of the record. The video was shot at 

Motherwell Concert Hall by long-time collaborator 

Donald Milne. McGinley had this to say about the new 

song: “To rephrase an aphorism most famously used 

by John Lennon, existence is what happens while the 

human race is busy making other plans. This song is 

kinda about that, but like all our songs, we write them 

intuitively and only think about what to say about 

them afterwards.” Even if we weren’t living through 

extraordinarily troubling times, there is nothing quite 

like a Teenage Fanclub album to assuage the mind, 

body and soul, and to reaffirm that all is not lost in 

this world.

Edinburgh's Bow Anderson has unveiled her beautiful 

new single, ‘Hate That I Fell In Love With You’, which 

is available now. This is the fast-rising Scottish pop 

star’s first new music since debut EP ‘New Wave’ - 

and breakout single ‘Sweater’ - which picked up early 

support across Radio 1 and Apple Music 1, saw Bow 

named one of Vevo's Ones to Watch, went top 20 on 

Spotify's Viral Charts and led to Anderson’s first TV 

appearances on the likes of Children In Need. Bow

ROBERT JON & THE WRECK with special

confirmed British blues rock slide guitarist Troy

ECHO MACHINE :: At Sneaky Petes, 

Edinburgh. A loud Pop Group from Dundee, and 

they have gigs! "They will be a flippin' hoot!" 

Echo Machine played the King Tut's Summer 

Nights Festival in 2019. In addition to 

performing live, the band released a number of 

singles in their first year together, many of 

which arrived with accompanying videos. Debut 

single St Elmo was followed by Vibrations, 

Chameleon and Automatic Love, the latter being 

reviewed as a 'bruising, belter of a song'. In 

addition to these videos, Echo Machine 

collaborated with Thai singer Janine Alissa 

Wollmann on a cover of the Billie Eilish track Bad 

Guy, producing an accompanying music video. 

Their single 'Headlights' was also well-reviewed, 

being described as 'infectious discowave'. The 

success of the band in 2019 prompted BBC radio 

presenter, Vic Galloway, to name the band as 

one of his 25 Scottish Artists to Watch in 2020.

The Fallen Angels Club presents ..... JOHN 

McCUSKER "30th Anniversary Tour" :: At 

The Queen's Hall, Edinburgh. In celebration of 

his 30th Anniversary as a professional musician, 

John McCusker will release ‘A Best Of’ album in 

2021 featuring tracks from his solo records and 

TV and film soundtracks over the last 30 years. 

John will also publish a book of his tunes ‘The 

Collection’ featuring 100 original compositions. 

There will also be a brand new solo album 

released to coincide with the UK Tour. The John 

McCusker Band, featuring some of the finest 

traditional musicians that John has worked with

Mustard consist of vocalist Katie Ball, guitarists David 

Noonan (also backing vocals) and Mete Kalyon, 

bassist Rob Clarke, and drummer Shane Maguire. 

Their heady blend of noise, trip hop, and electronicinfluenced 

music has helped them build a reputation 

as one of Ireland’s most thrilling new bands. Their 

2018 debut ‘Wednesday’ earned acclaim at home and 

abroad – most notably capturing a Choice Music Prize 

nomination for Irish Album of the Year. Fader praised 

the band’s “intense and rich shoegaze-meets-noise 

sound,” NME called their album “a two-toned

CHUBBY AND THE GANG :: At Mash House, 

Edinburgh. Fast rising London punk 5-piece Chubby 

and the Gang have announced a bumper 40-date tour 

of the UK and Ireland through November and 

December of this year offering a chance for many to 

finally see just why they've become one of the most 

exciting and talked-about punk bands in the world 

over the past year. Fronted by Manning (a former 

cabbie who now also works as an electrician), Chubby 

and the Gang have been leading a pack of bands 

coming out of a new wave of British Hardcore. Speed 

Kills was one of the critical surprises of the year 

thanks to its unrelentingly fun concoction of hardcore, 

pub rock, doo wop, and blues. The album was 

produced by Jonah Falco of F**ked Up, and boasts 

songs of deep substance and political conscience with 

a precise sense of time and place. It received an 8.0 

Pitchfork review, Stereogum praised its “massive 

barroom gang choruses, power chords at breakneck 

tempos, rock spelled R-A-W-K and visceral 

gratification,” while The Guardian declared them "UK 

punk's most vital new band" and NME called them 

"the scene's clear front-runners" and Speed Kills "a 

thrilling white-knuckle ride through multiple flavours 

of hardcore punk".

to the road this winter for their first live dates since 

2019. The band’s new limited edition book includes 

intimate behind the scenes photographs and 

captivating images from the stage during the band’s 

2019 tour dates in Bristol, Southampton, Oxford, 

Nottingham, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Belfast, 

Dublin, Leeds and Coventry. Speaking about the book, 

Connor elaborates: "Originally there was no intention 

to make a book, we had Peter out on the road with us 

taking pictures but we thought it would be cool to use 

all the photos from one period of time to create 

something physical rather than images just sitting on 

Instagram or my hard drive for the rest of time. We’re 

all really happy with how the book has turned out, and 

hope that other people can find just as much

DJANGO DJANGO :: At The Mash House, Edinburgh. 

Back in the old world at the start of 2020, our 

psychedelic punk heroes The Lovely Eggs were primed 

to release their new album ‘I Am Moron’ – their 

greatest work yet, over-flowing with political venom 

and fresh ideas, set to a gloriously independent noise. 

Then, of course, the pandemic happened. The Lovely 

Eggs pushed ahead, and the album came out to 

critical-acclaim and indie chart-topping status, but 

their plans to tour it far and wide were obviously 

scuppered. At first, their UK tour was rescheduled to 

just two months later, thinking there’s no way the 

pandemic could last more than a few weeks…. Fast 

forward a year, their UK tour has been rebooked 

independently by the band at least five times and The 

Lovely Eggs are still yet to play the new album live, 

but new tour dtaes are now on sale for 2022.

On 24 June join Tide Lines, a band whose sound has 

been described as a combination of Celtic soul, folk 

philosophy and big guitars with the voice of a Gaelic 

angel, one of Scotland’s most exciting and successful

Alongside her extensive solo ventures, Miller’s

Glasgow. TAAHLIAH is a DJ and producer from 

Glasgow. After making her name in the 

underground queer club scenes of Berlin & 

Glasgow as a DJ and remixer, she took stage as a 

producer in 2021 when she started releasing on 

London label untitled (recs). Her debut-EP 

Angelica (out May 28th) brings together 

TAAHLIAH's expansive production skills and range 

of influences, moving effortlessly between 

squeaky-clean hyperpop textures (Brave, 

Freefalling) and the jacking hard-dance sounds 

(FMH, Bourgeoisie, Transdimensional) which 

defined her much lauded Boiler Room debut 

earlier this year.

they backed him up on his newest album. Jason 

Isbell called him one of the greatest triple threats, a 

great singer, songwriter and performer. Richmond 

Fontaine liked him so much they took him on 

support for their UK farewell tour in 2016. 


16 SEPTEMBER 

TEENAGE FANCLUB :: At Barrowland, Glasgow. 

Scottish alternative rock band Teenage Fanclub 

have shared a preview of their highly-anticipated 

album with a new song and video. “In Our Dreams”, 

written by the band's Raymond McGinley, is the fifth 

single off Endless Arcade (now out). The song 

evokes an exploratory voyage inward and reflects 

the melancholic yet uplifting themes present 

throughout the rest of the record. The video was 

shot at Motherwell Concert Hall by long-time 

collaborator Donald Milne. McGinley had this to say 

about the new song: “To rephrase an aphorism 

most famously used by John Lennon, existence is 

what happens while the human race is busy making 

other plans. This song is kinda about that, but like 

all our songs, we write them intuitively and only 

think about what to say about them afterwards.” 

Even if we weren’t living through extraordinarily 

troubling times, there is nothing quite like a 

Teenage Fanclub album to assuage the mind, body 

and soul, and to reaffirm that all is not lost in this 

world. 


18 SEPTEMBER 

The Fallen Angels Club presents ..... THE 

HANDSOME FAMILY plus DANIEL KNOX :: At 

Community Central Halls (CCH), Marhill Road, 

Glasgow. The Handsome Family have written some 

of the most haunting and beautiful songs in 

American music. During a 30-year career, Brett and 

Rennie Sparks have created songs that transform 

the mundane landscape of modern life into a place 

of mysterious portent.

JONES plus support :: At The Glad Cafe. Diana 

Jones has appeared on world-renowned TV and 

radio shows Later With Jools Holland, BBC4 Folk 

America, BBC4’s Songwriters Circle and BBC Radio 2 

Country with Bob Harris. Diana’s progressive, yet 

historically rich, songs have been recorded by 

artists including Joan Baez and Gretchen Peters and 

have won her awards from Kerrville Folk Festival, 

New Song Festival and nominations from 

International Folk Alliance. Song To A Refuge 

(Proper Records, April 24 2020), Diana’s 6th solo 

recording, gives voice to the stories of asylum 

seekers worldwide; a testament to Diana’s 

commitment to social justice through her gifts as a 

consummate songwriter and performer. 


2 OCTOBER 

ECHO MACHINE :: At Broadcast, Glasgow. A loud 

Pop Group from Dundee, and they have gigs! "They 

will be a flippin' hoot!" Echo Machine played the 

King Tut's Summer Nights Festival in 2019. In 

addition to performing live, the band released a 

number of singles in their first year together, many 

of which arrived with accompanying videos. Debut 

single St Elmo was followed by Vibrations, 

Chameleon and Automatic Love, the latter being 

reviewed as a 'bruising, belter of a song'. In 

addition to these videos, Echo Machine collaborated 

with Thai singer Janine Alissa Wollmann on a cover 

of the Billie Eilish track Bad Guy, producing an 

accompanying music video. Their single 'Headlights' 

was also well-reviewed, being described as 

'infectious discowave'. The success of the band in 

2019 prompted BBC radio presenter, Vic Galloway, 

to name the band as one of his 25 Scottish Artists 

to Watch in 2020. In January 2020 the band 

announced that their debut album would be called 

Instant Transmissions. 


Despite the global catastrophe that has 

been Covid-19, three music innovators 

emerged from the nocturnal shadows 

as CHECK MASSES in 2020 with their 

debut album Nightlife — an evocative 

trawl through psychedelic soul, hiphop, 

dub, electronica and rock’n’roll. 

The timing was disastrous thanks to the 

pandemic obviously, but absolutely everyone 

in music was hit hard… So what else was there 

to do, but get the remix crew in! 

On 23 July they release the Moroccan Skies 

EP. This 6-track EP takes a key track from 

Nightlife and twists it five spectacular 

directions, adding the original album version. 

Erik Tricity turns the song into a Prodigy 

versus Pendulum break-beat banger; Ex 

Makina transform it with melancholy, 

cinematic electronics; Man of Moon throb and 

pulse like the guvnor Andrew Weatherall; 

Great Ezcape up the hip-hop with a low-slung

MADNESS :: At SSE Hydro, Glasgow. Madness have 

today announced their sure-to-be triumphant return 

to the road with ‘The Ladykillers Tour’. After 18 

months cooped up considering their career options 

(punctuated by excursions out for critically acclaimed 

docu-series ‘Before We Was We’ and last night’s 

magnificent ‘The Get Up!’ more on which later) the 

Nutty Boys finally get back to doing what they do 

best - uniting the people for a right raucous live bash.

CHUBBY AND THE GANG :: At King Tuts, Glasgow. 

Fast rising London punk 5-piece Chubby and the Gang 

have announced a bumper 40-date tour of the UK and 

Ireland through November and December of this year 

offering a chance for many to finally see just why 

they've become one of the most exciting and talkedabout 

punk bands in the world over the past year. 

Fronted by Manning (a former cabbie who now also 

works as an electrician), Chubby and the Gang have 

been leading a pack of bands coming out of a new 

wave of British Hardcore. Speed Kills was one of the 

critical surprises of the year thanks to its unrelentingly 

fun concoction of hardcore, pub rock, doo wop, and 

blues. The album was produced by Jonah Falco of 

F**ked Up, and boasts songs of deep substance and 

political conscience with a precise sense of time and 

place. It received an 8.0 Pitchfork review, Stereogum 

praised its “massive barroom gang choruses, power 

chords at breakneck tempos, rock spelled R-A-W-K 

and visceral gratification,” while The Guardian 

declared them "UK punk's most vital new band" and 

NME called them "the scene's clear front-runners" and 

Speed Kills "a thrilling white-knuckle ride through 

multiple flavours of hardcore punk".

12 FEBRUARY 

KING KING plus special guests THE DAMN 

TRUTH :: At O2 Academy, Glasgow. The Damn Truth 

have extensively toured Europe and the USA, opened 

tours for Z.Z. Top (and partied with Billy Gibbons in 

his pyjamas), the Sheepdogs, Styx, and Rival Sons. 

They sold out the legendary Whisky a Go-Go in Los 

Angeles, sold out the Corona Theatre in their 

hometown of Montreal, and even had one of their 

videos featured on the official Janis Joplin Facebook 

page. It's a culmination of a lot of blood, sweat and 

tears that’s come fruition with “Now or Nowhere”. 

“Now or Nowhere” chronicles the band as they 

navigate life, love, and everything else in a world 

gone seemingly upside down and sideways during the 

past year they were unable to finish the album with 

Bob because of COVID-19 restrictions, the band 

recorded the remaining three songs with help from 

Juno Award-winning producer Jean Massicotte (Patrick 

Watson, The Damn Truth) who mixed “Everything 

Fades”; and the rest of the mixing was done by Vance 

Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton), Nick DiDia 

(Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against The Machine), and 

Mike Plotnikoff (Van Halen, Cranberries, Three Days

TROY REDFERN on tour with 'WILLE & THE 

BANDITS' :: At Hug & Pint, Glasgow. Slide guitarist 

and singer-songwriter, Troy Redfern, dubbed by the 

British press as “the king of slide guitar,". Troy cut his 

teeth and refined his style over the last few years, 

playing festival main stages and blazing a trail across 

Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia. He’s also become a 

well-known draw on the UK Blues Rock festival circuit, 

playing alongside rock luminaries including Robert 

Plant. “Troy is a passionate, intense, free-spirited 

musician whose ferocious slide guitar style twists and 

turns timeless themes and ideas to his own ends. He’s 

a musical visionary unafraid to trample on the 

boundaries of restricting labels,” said Blues Matters 

Magazine. The forthcoming studio album is a 

culmination everything Troy has learnt so far on his

DJANGO DJANGO :: At Stereo, Glasgow. Back in the 

old world at the start of 2020, our psychedelic punk 

heroes The Lovely Eggs were primed to release their 

new album ‘I Am Moron’ – their greatest work yet, 

over-flowing with political venom and fresh ideas, set 

to a gloriously independent noise. Then, of course, 

the pandemic happened. The Lovely Eggs pushed 

ahead, and the album came out to critical-acclaim and 

indie chart-topping status, but their plans to tour it 

far and wide were obviously scuppered. At first, their 

UK tour was rescheduled to just two months later, 

thinking there’s no way the pandemic could last more 

than a few weeks…. Fast forward a year, their UK tour 

has been rebooked independently by the band at least 

five times and The Lovely Eggs are still yet to play the 

new album live, but new tour dtaes are now on sale 

for 2022.

Kinross. Edinburgh-based 5-pieceThe Wynntown 

Marshals formed in 2007 and have been described by 

the Metro as arguably Scotlands strongest band and 

regarded by The Herald as the best Americana band 

outside North America. With three studio albums, 

several EPs, and a 10-year retrospective collection 

under their belts so far, the Marshals have recorded 

sessions for Whispering Bob Harris's BBC Radio 2 

show, as well as BBC Radio Scotland sessions on 

Another Country with Ricky Ross and an appearance 

on The Quay Sessions with Roddy Hart in 2018.

recording three albums to date, with their latest opus 

“Reflections” having received rave reviews and

Focus, Walter Trout, Dr Feelgoodamong many others. 

In addition, the band have made many large festival 

apperances where they have shared the stage with 

the likes of The Stranglers, Feeder, FM and Cats In 

Space. Also, the band and it’s members have won and 

been nominated for numerous awards including Young 

Artist of The Year in ‘The British Blues Awards’ two 

years running in 2012 & 2013. Away from the band, 

it's members have worked with Grammy award 

winners to rock legends. 


20 OCTOBER 

ECHO MACHINE supporting THE NINTH WAVE :: 

At Church, Dundee. A loud Pop Group from Dundee, 

and they have gigs! "They will be a flippin' hoot!" 

Echo Machine played the King Tut's Summer Nights 

Festival in 2019. In addition to performing live, the 

band released a number of singles in their first year 

together, many of which arrived with accompanying 

videos. Debut single St Elmo was followed by 

Vibrations, Chameleon and Automatic Love, the latter 

being reviewed as a 'bruising, belter of a song'. In 

addition to these videos, Echo Machine collaborated 

with Thai singer Janine Alissa Wollmann on a cover of 

the Billie Eilish track Bad Guy, producing an 

accompanying music video. Their single 'Headlights' 

was also well-reviewed, being described as 'infectious 

discowave'. The success of the band in 2019 

prompted BBC radio presenter, Vic Galloway, to name 

the band as one of his 25 Scottish Artists to Watch in 

2020. In January 2020 the band announced that their 

debut album would be called Instant Transmissions.

FINAL DRIVE :: At Backstage at the Green Hotel, 

Kinross. It's been some time since Vincent Flatts laid 

down "new" music. And, if you know anything about 

the band, and it's inimitable frontman Bertie, you'll 

probably be able to guess why. If not, let's just say 

these things take time. The album's title, Back in the 

Saddle, acknowledges Bertie getting back to "work" 

after taking some time out between 2016 and 2018. 

While the songs are covers, each represents 

something to him at this time in his life. So, it's more 

than just a hotchpotch. There's a story amid the 

chaos. But all you need to know is this: there's blues, 

there's booze-infused tunes and there's a bollock-load 

of boogie.

TEENAGE FANCLUB :: At Music Hall, Aberdeen. 

Scottish alternative rock band Teenage Fanclub have 

shared a preview of their highly-anticipated album 

with a new song and video. “In Our Dreams”, written 

by the band's Raymond McGinley, is the fifth single off 

Endless Arcade (now out). The song evokes an 


melancholic yet uplifting themes present throughout 

the rest of the record. The video was shot at 

Motherwell Concert Hall by long-time collaborator 

Donald Milne. McGinley had this to say about the new 

song: “To rephrase an aphorism most famously used 

by John Lennon, existence is what happens while the 

human race is busy making other plans. This song is 

kinda about that, but like all our songs, we write them 

intuitively and only think about what to say about 

them afterwards.” Even if we weren’t living through 

extraordinarily troubling times, there is nothing quite 

like a Teenage Fanclub album to assuage the mind, 

body and soul, and to reaffirm that all is not lost in 

this world.

PEAT & DIESEL :: At The Ironworks, Inverness. The 

story began when three Stornoway Cove’s (Innes, 

Uilly and Boydie) met up in the house to have the 

craic on a Saturday night playing some music with 

just the dog and cat watching. After a few tunes 

getting thrown across the room Boydie started 

muttering a few sentences. As he is a man of few 

words no attention was really given to him until he 

shouted “Quick, line me out!” Not a second to spare, a 

set of old broken headphones were cable tied to a 

guitar stand and this back fed the muttering into a 

crackly guitar amp and out came a few cobwebs 

followed shortly after with a second that nobody had 

ever heard before. What came next was five gallons of

ROSS AINSLIE and INNES WATSON :: At SEALL at

live concert with two Trad giants - Multi-awardwinning 

ROSS AINSLIE is one of Scotland’s finest 

traditional musicians and composers, playing pipes, 

whistles and cittern. He is renowned for his highly 

acclaimed solo material and as a skilled performer and 

prolific collaborator who performs regularly with bands 

Treacherous Orchestra – of which he is a founding 

member – Salsa Celtica, Dougie Maclean, Ali Hutton, 

Jarlath Henderson, Charlie Mckerron, Tim Edey, 

Hamish Napier, India Alba and has performed with 

Kate Rusby, Blue Rose Code, Zakir Hussain, Trilok 

Gurtu, Capercaillie, Shooglenifty, Carl Barat, Papon, 

Karsh Kale, Flook, Breabach, Soumik Datta and Patsy 

Reid. Skye-based musician INNES WATSON is an 

award-winning multi-instrumentalist with over 21 

years of contemporary and traditional Scottish music 

performance, recording, teaching and producing 

experience cumulatively. He grew up in the Scottish 

Borders in very supportive musical surroundings 

encouraging an extremely eclectic mix of skills, 

abilities, interests and accolades that combine to 

make Innes one of the most highly-regarded and 

sought-after musicians on the folk scene today. This

IAIN MACFARLANE and INGRID HENDERSON :: At 

SEALL at Armadale Castle Gardens and Museum of the

Combining years of experience playing with bands 

such as Blazin’ Fiddles and Cliar, multiinstrumentalists, 

and stalwarts of the traditional music 

world, IAIN MACFARLANE and INGRID 

HENDERSON create a sound which is reflective of the 

stunning, culture-rich Lochaber area where they grew 

up. Based mainly on harp and fiddle, and mixing 

traditional and newly written material, they combine 

rousing marches, jigs and reels with poignant slow 

airs of love and loss, giving the listener a unique 

insight into the rich history and music of the West 

Highlands. This event is part of the Sabhal Mòr Ostaig 

short courses concerts hosted by SEALL each year. 


16 JULY 

JASON SINGH :: At SEALL at Armadale Castle 

Gardens and Museum of the Isles, Armadale, Isle of 

Skye IV45 8RS. 4-5pm. Plant Song: interactive 

concert - Beatbox sensation JASON SINGH will be 

performing an ambient set of new music derived 

entirely from plants using bio feedback sensors and 

incorporating voice and live processing. The set 

focuses on wellbeing, relaxation and elements of 

sound healing. You are encouraged to bring along 

your own plant and afternoon tea in this wonderful, 

interactive concert. Teas to take away will also be 

available from the Stables Café at Armadale. Booking 

required. Jason will put a live feed into the plants so 

that you can hear them and he will improvise with 

their song. The performance is about an hour long 

with a 15-minute reflection/Q&A afterwards. Malin 

Makes Music will be guest musician improvising with 

Jason. 


20 JULY 

ROSS COUPER :: At SEALL at Armadale Castle 

Gardens and Museum of the Isles, Armadale, Isle of 

Skye IV45 8RS. 7.30-9.30pm. Critically-acclaimed 

Scottish fiddle player, ROSS COUPER, hails from an 

incredibly musical family in the Shetland Islands. He's 

played with many different groups including awardwinning 

band Bodega. With Bodega he toured all over 

Europe and in America where he met Peatbog Faeries 

at the Milwaukee Irish Festival. This event is part of 

the Sabhal Mòr Ostaig short courses concerts hosted 

by SEALL each year.

MAIREARAD GREEN and INNES WATSON :: At 

SEALL at Armadale Armadale Castle Gardens and 

Museum of the Isles, Armadale, Isle of Skye IV45 

8RS. 7.30-9.30pm. Accordion and pipes from the 

north west - Having grown up in the West Coast 

Coigach peninsula of the Scottish Highlands – an area 

steeped in culture and local traditions – MAIREARAD 

GREEN is a musician and landscape painter based in 

Ullapool. Renowned for her deft and lyrical accordion 

style, as well as her dextrous piping, Mairearad is also 

in great demand as a performer. Regularly on stage 

alongside multi-instrumentalist Anna Massie, 

composer, Mike Vass, as Buoy Gull with Kenny 

Anderson (King Creosote) and piping supergroup, 

Tryst. She has also previously toured with Eddi 

Reader, Karine Polwart, The Poozies, The Unusual 

Suspects and Box Club. Skye musician INNES 

WATSON is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist 

with over 21 years of contemporary and traditional 

Scottish music performance, recording, teaching and

DEIRDRE GRAHAM :: At SEALL at Armadale 

Armadale Castle Gardens and Museum of the Isles, 

Armadale, Isle of Skye IV45 8RS. 7.30-9.30pm. Gaelic 

song from the Isle of Skye - Skye singer DEIRDRE 

GRAHAM is joined by esteemed musicians ANGUS 

LYON (Blazin’ Fiddles), SEONAID AITKEN (BBC Jazz 

Nights) and JAMES LINDSAY (Breabach) for an 

intimate evening concert. Together they will perform a 

selection of songs from Urranta, Deirdre’s longanticipated 

debut album, which weaves together a rich 

tapestry from her traditional heritage and her broad 

cultural influences to become a powerful celebration of 

Gaelic music. “Deirdre’s singing is always assured and 

has a rare clarity; she makes you hear songs in a 

different way” John Waltham, The Living Tradition. 

The evening promises to be a celebration of Gaelic 

songs and their stories, many from Skye, breathing 

new life into them and complemented by the beautiful

BOB HOLLIS :: At Talking Horse*, Annan - as part of 

D&G Arts Festival. 6-7pm. Dumfries based musician 

and singer; Bob Hollis is renowned for his powerhouse 

vocals. Rising to local stardom fronting Ska band More 

From Jim, Bob shows us a different musical side as he 

trades bass guitar for acoustic. His performance, an 

eclectic mix of songs, demonstrates versatility and 

puts his vocal prowess on display. *The Talking Horse 

is a fully functioning, outdoor theatre space that will 

allow us to bring high quality professional 

performances to 4 communities across the region. The

CATRIONA MCGHIE & JODIE RAE :: At Talking 

Horse*, Annan - as part of D&G Arts Festival. 5:30- 

6:30pm. Catriona McGhie :: Catrìona is a 26 year 

old singer from Stranraer who released her debut 

album, Òran, in 2017. Catrìona can regularly be found 

in The Grapes Bar on Friday evenings performing with 

“The Cl’yholers”, or at local Open Mic sessions, where 

she regularly performs a variety of Scottish songs. 

Jodie Rae :: ‘At First Glance’ – a project established

by Jodie – was selected as part of the commissions 

set out by the Young Promoters Group. The project 

will include a combination of her own musical material 

alongside British Sign Language Interpretation. Jodie 

Rae is musician, song-writer and actor currently 

residing in Ayrshire and has performed in multiple 

venues across Scotland, both musically and 

theatrically. Most recently, she was selected as a 

song-writing mentee for the Dumfries Music 

Conference Futures programme and utilised this to 

develop her musical identity as a song-writer. 


25 JULY 

KATE KYLE :: At Talking Horse*, Annan - as part of 

D&G Arts Festival. 4-5pm. Shortlisted for BBC 

Scotland Singer/Songwriter 2019, 19 year old Kate 

Kyle has recently released her 2nd EP “Without 

Warning”. With her strong soulful country vocals, 

Kate performs locally and nationally including events 

such as, Millport Country Music Festival and Celtic 

Connections among many others. “Kate Kyle sounds 

like she’s come right out of Nashville….one of the 

regions finest performers” – Bruce McKenzie D&G Life 

Magazine February 2021. Kate Kyle is also performing 

with Sarah Law at the Talking Horse in Dumfries on 

Saturday 24 July at 2.30pm.

alt.blues sounds owe as much to trash country, punk 

and rockabilly as they do pre-war Delta blues and

at Memorial Hall – recorded at a venue close to his 

home on the eastern shores of Loch Lomond, 

Scotland, was released on 1 September 2017 on

aggressive, dynamic blues-based sound that owes as

with the release of “Renaissance Man’, their first fulllength

RODDY WOOMBLE (Idlewild) :: At MacArts, 

Galashiels. 8pm, tickets £17.50. Known for his 

enigmatic lyrics, warm baritone voice and 

consummate gift for a tune, Roddy has released five 

solo albums to date - 'My Secret Is My 

Silence' (2006), ‘Before The Ruin’ (2008, with Kris 

Drever and John McCusker), 'The Impossible Song & 

Other Songs' (2011), 'Listen To Keep' (2013), and 

‘The Deluder’ (2017). For the past two decades Roddy 

has also been the frontman of much loved Scottish 

alternative rock band Idlewild, releasing eight studio 

albums, and touring worldwide as a headline act, but 

also in support to R.E.M., Pearl Jam and U2 amongst 

others. 


12 OCTOBER 

JOESEF :: At The Cluny, Newcastle. Glasgow’s rising 

star Joesef's latest release, the Late To The Party EP, 

features gorgeous, stripped-back takes on three of his 

early releases, Loverboy, Limbo and Does It Make You 

Feel Good. Much more news coming soon and you can 

also see Joesef at Glasgow's TRNSMT Festival in 

September and on tour in October. 


26 OCTOBER 

ECHO MACHINE :: At Mac Arts, Galashiels. A loud 

Pop Group from Dundee, and they have gigs! "They 

will be a flippin' hoot!" Echo Machine played the King 

Tut's Summer Nights Festival in 2019. In addition to 

performing live, the band released a number of 

singles in their first year together, many of which 

arrived with accompanying videos. Debut single St 

Elmo was followed by Vibrations, Chameleon and 

Automatic Love, the latter being reviewed as a 

'bruising, belter of a song'. In addition to these 

videos, Echo Machine collaborated with Thai singer 

Janine Alissa Wollmann on a cover of the Billie Eilish 

track Bad Guy, producing an accompanying music 

video. Their single 'Headlights' was also wellreviewed, 

being described as 'infectious discowave'. 

The success of the band in 2019 prompted BBC radio 

presenter, Vic Galloway, to name the band as one of 

his 25 Scottish Artists to Watch in 2020. In January 

2020 the band announced that their debut album 

would be called Instant Transmissions. 


29 OCTOBER 

WREST with support THE BOY WITH THE LION 

HEAD :: At Mac Arts, Galashiels. Wrest are a hotlytipped 

Scottish indie folk-rock band, making music 

from Edinburgh's Old Town. Their sound combines 

soaring guitars with layered lyrics and heartfelt 

melodies, reminiscent of bands like Frightened Rabbit, 

The National, Idlewild, Snow Patrol and We Were 

Promised Jetpacks. Don’t miss this must-see gig from 

one of Scotland’s most exciting emerging live acts.

TROY REDFERN on tour with 'WILLE & THE 

BANDITS' :: At The Cluny, Newcastle. Slide guitarist 

and singer-songwriter, Troy Redfern, dubbed by the 

British press as “the king of slide guitar,". Troy cut his 

teeth and refined his style over the last few years, 

playing festival main stages and blazing a trail across 

Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia. He’s also become a 

well-known draw on the UK Blues Rock festival circuit, 

playing alongside rock luminaries including Robert 

Plant. “Troy is a passionate, intense, free-spirited 

musician whose ferocious slide guitar style twists and 

turns timeless themes and ideas to his own ends. He’s 

a musical visionary unafraid to trample on the 

boundaries of restricting labels,” said Blues Matters 

Magazine. The forthcoming studio album is a 

culmination everything Troy has learnt so far on his 

musical journey, and, more importantly, brings into 

sharp focus a much tighter song-writing and more

26 MAY 

DJANGO DJANGO :: At The Cluny, Newcastle. Back 

in the old world at the start of 2020, our psychedelic 

punk heroes The Lovely Eggs were primed to release 

their new album ‘I Am Moron’ – their greatest work 

yet, over-flowing with political venom and fresh ideas, 

set to a gloriously independent noise. Then, of course, 

the pandemic happened. The Lovely Eggs pushed 

ahead, and the album came out to critical-acclaim 

and indie chart-topping status, but their plans to tour 

it far and wide were obviously scuppered. At first, 

their UK tour was rescheduled to just two months 

later, thinking there’s no way the pandemic could last 

more than a few weeks…. Fast forward a year, their 

UK tour has been rebooked independently by the 

band at least five times and The Lovely Eggs are still 

yet to play the new album live, but new tour dtaes 

are now on sale for 2022.
