WELCOME
Welcome to the 2021 Toronto Summer Music Festival! For three weeks
in July, New Horizons looks beyond the challenges of the pandemic, and
forward to a better future. We celebrate this summer with a wonderful
assortment of music from both past and present, showcasing the
resilience and creativity of our featured artists.
From July 15 through August 1, you will experience an incredible
line-up of chamber music, art song, and even dance, and notably the
return of our TSM Academy for Emerging Artists after a one-year hiatus.
Performers and composers will include Adrianne Pieczonka, Charles
Richard-Hamelin, Asitha Tennekoon, Kelly-Marie Murphy, the Gryphon
Trio, Alice Hong, the New Orford String Quartet, Echo Chamber Toronto,
the National Academy Orchestra, Jessie Montgomery, Philip Chiu, and
of course our amazing Academy Fellows and Mentors.
We are grateful to you, our fabulous patrons, supporters, donors,
volunteers, and community members. Your enthusiasm and support
makes this all possible, and we raise a glass to you!
With best wishes,
Jonathan Crow

MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD CHAIR
Welcome to the 2021 Toronto Summer Music Festival! While we had
hoped to be back to normal this summer, I am thrilled that you could
join us for this year’s “virtual” Festival. Our Artistic Director, Jonathan
Crow, has planned another stellar line-up of amazing talent, as well as
performances by our Academy Fellows.
This past 16 months has been an extremely challenging time for
Canada’s arts community, including TSM. This year’s Festival would not
have been possible without the incredible generosity and support of
TSM’s sponsors, patrons, staff, volunteers, family and friends. The fact
that we can support our wonderful Artists and Fellows and provide
music to our audience through this Festival is what makes TSM thrive.
I send my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your support, and very much
look forward to when I can thank you in person as we share music
together. Until then, please stay safe, and enjoy the music!
