LOOK-SEE ART: MODERN TO CONTEMPORARY (2 PARTS AVAILABLE)<br />

Explore select examples <strong>of</strong> modern <strong>and</strong> contemporary art <strong>and</strong> their connections to previous<br />
works <strong>of</strong> art that inspired them. With a focus on painting, we will follow the thread between art<br />
<strong>of</strong> the recent <strong>and</strong> their link to the past to see how art continues to unfold. This participatory class<br />
includes active-looking strategies, enlivened with multimedia, that deepens appreciation for<br />
the presented image, the theories, <strong>and</strong> the context in which the art was made. Works <strong>of</strong> art will<br />

PROGRAM NOTES: CLASSICAL MUSIC SERIES<br />
Taught by: David Heitler-Klevans<br />
Discover more about <strong>and</strong> prepare for local, upcoming symphony performances. Underst<strong>and</strong>ing<br />
<strong>and</strong> familiarity can greatly increase your enjoyment <strong>of</strong> this type <strong>of</strong> music. No previous musical<br />
background is required. David Heitler-Klevans has a degree in composition from Oberlin<br />
Conservatory <strong>of</strong> Music, <strong>and</strong> is a full-time performing musician. He has taught music to adults <strong>and</strong><br />
children for over 30 years, including at Settlement Music School, Cheltenham Township Adult<br />
School, Mt. Airy Learning Tree, <strong>and</strong> <strong>Temple</strong> University Ambler. Series Fee: $135. Register for<br />

READING BETWEEN THE WARS (BOOK DISCUSSION)<br />
Taught by: Miriam Camitta<br />
Join us in our discussion <strong>of</strong> five classic novels about the interwar period. Not just social history,<br />
there are stories, first, about the people living through the tumultuous years following the First<br />
World War. We begin with Elizabeth Jane Howard’s The Light Years, a family saga <strong>of</strong> class <strong>and</strong><br />
desire at the beginning <strong>of</strong> Britain’s modern age. We continue with Heat <strong>and</strong> Dust, Ruth Prawer<br />
Jhabvala’s brilliant Pulitzer Prize winning novel <strong>of</strong> unforgettable characters caught in the fall <strong>of</strong><br />
the British Empire in India. Next, we turn to the United States with Jazz, Toni Morrison’s story <strong>of</strong><br />
a fatal love triangle set in the Harlem Renaissance. Returning to Engl<strong>and</strong>, we follow with Mrs.<br />
Dalloway, Virginia Woolf’s modernist rendering <strong>of</strong> love, regret, <strong>and</strong> reckoning. We end with Ernest<br />
Hemingway’s Lost Generation classic, A Moveable Feast, a nostalgic look at Paris in the twenties<br />
<strong>and</strong> the hopefulness <strong>of</strong> youth.<br />

Spanish is the second most-used language in the United States <strong>and</strong> the most practical foreign<br />
language for Americans to learn. During this course, you will learn basic sentences, adjectives,<br />
vocabulary, conjugation, rules <strong>of</strong> the verbs ser <strong>and</strong> estar (to be), <strong>and</strong> the present form <strong>of</strong> the<br />
regular verbs. Students will also be exposed to different exercises <strong>and</strong> drills that will help them<br />
improve their communication skills. This course is ideal for beginners, those who have forgotten<br />
what they learned in school, businesspeople, or those seeking personal enrichment.<br />

Aging wine in wood is an integral part <strong>of</strong> winemaking. We will discover how exposure to wood<br />
changes the character <strong>of</strong> the wine by smoothing out the tannins <strong>and</strong> adding layers <strong>of</strong> flavors <strong>and</strong><br />
complexity. We will compare <strong>and</strong> contrast wines from the same grapes aged or not in oak barrels.<br />

techniques such as a return to traditional methods that include no pesticides, fewer additives, <strong>and</strong><br />
native yeasts for fermentation. Here’s a chance to try unique wine varietals from France, Spain,<br />
Greece, Austria, Georgia, <strong>and</strong> Herzegovina. Some are biodynamic, natural, organic, <strong>and</strong> sparkling,<br />
<strong>and</strong> some include unusual varietals virtually unknown <strong>and</strong> almost extinct. We look forward to<br />

<strong>Temple</strong> University <strong>and</strong> Kaplan Schweser, the leading provider <strong>of</strong> financial planning <strong>and</strong> education materials, <strong>of</strong>fer the<br />
Certificate in Financial Planning (CFP) Program. This program meets the challenges faced by today’s financial planning<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essionals in the brokerage, insurance, accounting, banking, <strong>and</strong> related fields. The program fulfills the educational<br />
component, one <strong>of</strong> the four requirements <strong>of</strong> the CFP certification, established by the Certified Financial Planner Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Most <strong>of</strong> our courses that have scheduled meetings with instructors will meet via Zoom. You can access<br />
Zoom from your internet browser or by downloading the free app to your laptop, desktop, tablet, or<br />
smartphone.<br />
You’ll be sent the link for your class(es) once you’ve registered.<br />
For a successful online learning experience, make sure you have the following:<br />
• Video capability—If your computer/device does not have a built-in camera, then we recommend<br />
you purchase a webcam.<br />
• Headset/headphones<br />
• Access to the Zoom app on your computer/device—Zoom can be downloaded from its website<br />
or from your app store.<br />
