The daughter of a research project on the<br />
use of materials and how they can be used in<br />
furniture, <strong>Raphia</strong> is the perfect converg<strong>en</strong>ce<br />
of modernity and tradition, technology<br />
and craftsmanship. An oxymoron that<br />
brings together two of the spirits of Italian<br />
production: the metallurgical industry and<br />
small sugar cane producers, with the aim<br />
of giving continuity to the tradition of sugar<br />
cane craftsmanship, which dates back to the<br />
beginning of the last c<strong>en</strong>tury, wh<strong>en</strong> the areas<br />
specialising in this craft saw schools and a<br />
culture that revolved around this material<br />
flourish.<br />
Today there are few companies that preserve<br />
the know-how of this craft, where manual<br />
skills and craftsmanship merge to make each<br />
creation unique.<br />
<strong>Raphia</strong> embodies this history and tradition<br />
in a contemporary context, thanks to a<br />
harmonious balance betwe<strong>en</strong> two materials:<br />
the metal structure is the base on which the<br />
cane and rattan are wov<strong>en</strong> to create the seat.

Designers<br />

Both graduated and professionaly trained<br />
in Milan, they started to develop their first<br />
projects together since 2003 and in 2006<br />
founded their studio LucidiPevere.<br />
They are facing constant chall<strong>en</strong>ges using<br />
unusual technics and aesthetic means to<br />
develop new forms of products.<br />
Their products appeared in differ<strong>en</strong>t<br />
museums and won major awards such as<br />
Designpreis Deutschland, Red Dot Design<br />
Award, Good Design Award, Compasso<br />
d’Oro Honourable m<strong>en</strong>tions and many<br />
others.<br />
They took part in various exhibitions in<br />
Europe and in the U.S. and appeared in<br />
differ<strong>en</strong>t publications.<br />
