Regional fund open<br />

Enterprise <strong>North</strong> <strong>Canterbury</strong> (ENC) is<br />

inviting organisers of major<br />

Waimakariri events to apply for the<br />

newRegional Events Fund which<br />

offers up to $10,000 per event,per year.<br />

Distributed by the Ministryof<br />

Business, Innovation and Employment<br />

(MBIE), thetotal$50 million fund was<br />

split across NewZealand’s<br />

International Marketing Alliances<br />

(IMA)groupings based on their share<br />

of international visitor spending prior<br />

to Covid­19.<br />

ENC received atotalof$150,000 for<br />

distribution between <strong>2021</strong> and 2024.<br />

current Waimakariri Event Fun.<br />

amazing newlarge­scale events,<br />

adding to ouralreadyabundant annual<br />

The firstround of funding<br />

applications is openbetween <strong>August</strong> 1<br />

and<strong>August</strong> 31.<br />

Fromthen, rounds open between<br />

March 1and March 31, between <strong>August</strong><br />

1and <strong>August</strong> 31 in 2022 and 2023, and<br />

again in March 2024.<br />

Applicants are encouraged to read<br />

allthe application criteria and<br />

requirements before starting the<br />

applications process.<br />

encouraged.<br />

Organisers of smallerevents,or<br />

those whoseevents do notfit the<br />

Regional Events Fundcriteria are<br />

encouragedtostill applyfor the<br />

WaimakaririEvent Fund. It is<br />

provided by the Waimakariri District<br />

Council, managed by ENC and<br />

administered by Visit Waimakariri. It<br />

offers between $500 and$5,000 per<br />

application.<br />

Farmer support available<br />

Flood­affected farmersinthe South Island<br />

are being encouraged to make use of<br />

livestockfeed support services funded by<br />

the Ministryfor PrimaryIndustries (MPI).<br />

Widespreadflooding across the<br />

<strong>Canterbury</strong> region this winter, on top of<br />

drought, has damaged pasture and caused<br />

losses to supplementary feed.<br />

SinceJune, MPIhas boosted feed<br />

support services and allocated more than<br />

$4.7 million for recoverygrants, technical<br />

advice and wellbeing support, MPI rural<br />

communitiesand farmingsupport director<br />

Nick Story says.<br />

MPI animal health and welfare director<br />

Chris Rodwell says grazing pasture coated<br />

with silt can cause animal health issues<br />

and farmers with concerns about the<br />

health of their animals should seek advice<br />

from aveterinarian.<br />
