MIKE BOWIE, who writes
the regular Backyard Critters
column in the Selwyn Times,
is in the news for the wrong
reasons this week.
Mike was knocked of his
bike on Gerald St, Lincoln,
which he says has become
super dangerous for cyclists.
He wants the district
council to repriortise a
planned cycleway which
won’t now be put in until the
2027/28 financial year.
Lincoln University student
Ye Yuan is backing him, and
she has good reason to.
Ye was knocked off her bike
two years ago. We publish
the dramatic photos today.
The video can be seen at
There has been opposition
to a cycleway in Lincoln. But
with the growth of the town,
cycle safety will increasingly
be an issue.
