"We sense that ‘normal’ isn’t coming back, that we are being born into a

new normal: a new kind of society, a new relationship to the earth, a new

experience of being human."- Charles Eisenstein

Unfortunately, pandemic life is the "new normal" and not an excuse to blow

off the continuous learning of an individual. Starting a new school year with this kind

of situation and new environment means more patience, commitment and effort.

We have to push ourselves and believe that everything would be possible. Yes, it's

quite difficult, but we need to cope up and adapt ourselves to this kind of reality.

Kalayaan Elementary School supports the goals and objectives of the

Department of Education. We in the academe encourage students to continue their

learning. Blended learning is being introduced-the online class and modular learning.

Online educational platform-the DepEd Commons is also available. Teachers are

being upgraded also by attending webinars and virtual In-service trainings.

KES also supports the Department of Health's campaign on how to deal and

cope up with this COVID-19. We see to it that the school is always clean and free

from harm. The school implements the strict wearing of face mask and face shield,

proper handwashing, use of sanitizers, monitoring of ones temperature using a

thermometer scanner and disinfecting the school facilities every week.

The new normal education is at stake without the equal cooperation of the

learners, teachers and parents. Full cooperation is needed. Everyone must have a

role to play and must take it seriously. No one is left behind, together we heal and

stand.

KES remains steadfast on its journey to bring forth excellence even in this

new normal.

DR. LORETA B. TORRECAMPO, CESO V

Schools Division Superintendent

Division of City Schools

Pasay City

Madam:

Warm greetings!

The undersigned takes pride and honor in endorsing to your office the completed School

Annual Accomplishment Report for Year 2020 of this academic institution, Kalayaan

Elementary School, Kalayaan Village, Pasay City.

Relative to educational challenges brought by the pandemic, we remain steadfast in the

implementation of the Department of Education's mandate; 'To protect and promote the right of

every Filipino to quality, equitable, culture-based, and complete basic education . . .' This has

become the voice within this institution to embrace the 'new normal' platforms of education.

Thus, the theme, ‘Steadfast’, encapsulated the schools’ journey for the year 2020. Changes

have brought the school to new heights of victories and depths of challenges.

With this, Kalayaan Elementary School will remain to live to its purpose; “Be the home of the

Champions even in the new normal.”

Thank you and more power.

Very truly yours,

DR. SEVERO A. BAJADO

School Principal IV

BANTAY BASA

Kalayaan Elementary School’s Bantay Basa is a school-based

Curriculum Development. Its purpose is to improve reading skills,

especially comprehension of pupils both in English and Filipino.

Under this initiative, teachers in all areas prepare short stories

related to the subject and expose pupils to those reading texts and at

least three comprehension check-up questions of different levels

(more on interpretative and applied questions). Teachers give this

exercise before they start their lessons. Based on this exercise,

teachers recommend to the Remedial Reading Mentor those pupils

who need assistance.

This program of the school plays a vital role in promoting learning by serving as a

venue for pupils to experience the actual community life of producing their own harvest

in preparation for them when they join the mainstream of society. Gulayan sa Paaralan is

indeed an ideal program to develop and enhance the skills of students in relation to agriculture.

This would not only teach them to be responsible, but would also make them realized

the value of hardship and personal labor. By exposing them on how to propagate plant,

it would be easy for them to eat their personal harvest instead of forcing them to do so.

In this year’s activity, the initiative made parallel to this program started with the

solicitation of seeds from the Bureau of Plant and Industry as early as May of the current.

The Agency benevolently responded and handed a hundred packs of seeds. Having

such farm input planning and making layout of the garden started. Harvest were strictly recorded

and handed over to the feeding teacher. The rest were also sold to sustain the

implementation of such program.

Besides maintaining the Gulayan sa Paaralan, other activities were made in

preparation for the school involvement in the 2019 Technolympic of Talents. Thus the

school particularly Agri teachers were involve in propagating not only vegetable but also

ornamental plants which was utilize in that activities. Through that the school had

proven that it’s not only effective in ensuring food sustainability program but also in

developing skills of students relevant to plant propagation as it garnered the highest

rank in the Dish Garden competition and winning the overall recognition in the 2019 SDO

Pasay Technolympic of Talents.

Our educational system was in a hiatus after the declaration of total locked down and the

only way to continue the work and sustain the communication is through the use of technology; gadgets

and devices. It was a real challenge for everyone; shifting from the use of green board to virtual

board and classroom to google classroom.

With the function of ICT virtual activities & major school events became possible; Virtual

Recognition, Graduation , Online Enrolment,, Webinars, Meet ups & various meetings happened in an

instant.

In transitioning to this new normal the ICT has the major share of responsibility.

1. Collaborated and assisted in the creation of all Virtual events and online meetings/

webinars.

2. Conducted training on the use of different platforms; Google Suite in Education,

Microsoft Teams, and others

3. Provided technical assistance in the use of various technology available for teaching.

4. Conducted ICT related trainings and hands-on workshops in different LAC sessions per

grade level.

5. Implemented the use of e-QATAME in the Learning Action Cell and In Service Training.

for Teachers.
