Back-To-School Sales
To Hit Record Highs
AFTER several dismal sales months, retailers around the country have been
recording record high sales figures across the board as stores have reopened
and consumers are spending again. There has been a tremendous increase in
summer sales numbers and the upcoming back-to-school selling season is poised
to be a record breaker.
THIS month back-to-school sales are in full swing. Mask or mask-less, shot or
shot-less, schools will be open for students and the students will be spending
on everything from suppliers to apparel. The forecasts we have seen show a
dramatic increase in sales so we encourage our readers to stock up and be
ready for the rush which we anticipate will continue well into next month.
ONCE school starts each student will have a list of needed supplies to buy for
the new semester. So after the first round of shopping the lists will be fine-tuned,
which means more shoppers will be at your store. Additionally, many college
students will be settling into their dorms and looking to add finishing touches.
THE economy in general has greatly improved. Even taking inflation into
account there is a good deal of activity in the retail markets. The stock markets
have been holding their own and we are still benefiting by the pent-up demand
for consumers to spend money and get out and about.
LOW and mid-price points are the most active products moving the market
today. Sparked by the recent considerable increase in inflation we are seeing
less spending power which has been creating opportunities for retailers with
value priced merchandise. Popular priced gift and home stores have also been
generating great profits as consumers have been spending an extraordinary
amount of money in home furnishings.
WE will soon be heading into the home stretch. The final quarter for holiday
sales and provided things don’t tip too much in either direction we could be
looking at the best holiday season we have seen in a decade. Spend time now
planning your holiday sales strategy. With trade shows back in operation make
sure that you are attending them and hunting for new goods to share with your
shoppers.
SELECTION of goods is more important than ever. Shoppers are looking for
new and exciting merchandise to buy. Retailers simply can’t dust off their “precovid”
stock and shine it up as new! If you have unsold and stale goods, mark
them down to turn over some money to use for stocking up new merchandise.
Excite your buyers with fresh, trendy goods that they want and they will excite
you with purchases. Spend your time wisely now to position yourself for the next
sales spree.
