What is VTOS?
It means Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme. It is a full time day course
suitable for adults who are unemployed, in receipt of a Social Welfare Payment
and who wish to return to education in a supportive
environment.
Why choose Killarney VTOS?
Killarney VTOS has provided Free Adult Education in Killarney for 25 years
and recognises the importance of learning as a lifelong process. It provides a
supportive friendly environment for Adult learners to develop new skills for
progression to Further Education or entry to the world of work.
Who is eligible?
You may qualify for a VTOS programme if you are:
• 21 years or older (Opportunities are also available to individuals aged 18-21
under the Youthreach Scheme)
AND
• Unemployed and in receipt of a qualifying Social Welfare payment OR
signing for credits for at least 6 months OR a dependent of an eligible
person OR have received Statutory Redundancy

On average up to 40% of our learners progress to PLC courses, while the
remainder enter Third Level Education or the world of work.
