SIXTH FORM COLLEGE
The Bridge to Success
WELCOME FROM THE PRINCIPAL
I am delighted to introduce you to Painsley’s Sixth Form
College. Painsley already has an outstanding reputation
for delivering academic excellence and is ranked as the
highest performing, non-selective, school in Stoke-on-
Trent and Staffordshire (Real Schools’ Guide 2020). This
outstanding and proven record in delivering excellent
teaching and learning continues into our Sixth Form.
Students participate in excellent enrichment opportunities, which include numerous
sports, societies, trips both in the UK and worldwide, and work experience. There
are a variety of societies available, for example, a medical society which provides
an enrichment opportunity for students wishing to enter the medical profession. The
enrichment programme includes a vast number of university visits, taster sessions and
workshops where students are able to talk and work alongside real-life practitioners.
There is a wide range of courses available at ‘A’ Level and a number of vocational
programmes. Indeed, we are one of the pioneer centres for the delivery of the T
Level qualifications. In each subject, students have 10 hours of taught lessons, with
embedded tutorials, which follow the university style of learning. This is the case in
all subjects studied. In addition, students have access to a Personal Tutor and Mentor
system where they are supported on a one-to-one basis throughout their studies.
The Sixth Form is based in a newly refurbished building which provides students with
a relaxed and mature learning environment; which includes: quiet study zones, groupwork
rooms and a Learning Resource Centre. In addition, students are able to relax
and socialise with friends in the coffee-hub area.
This is a really exciting time for students to be joining the Painsley Sixth Form. It is
not only crucial that students achieve their academic potential, but it is important that
they enjoy their time with us, in a relaxed and mature Sixth Form environment. We
welcome all students, of all faiths and none.
I look forward to welcoming you to our Sixth Form in September.
