Willow are a team of adults with learning disabilities working together to make Croydon better. We make decisions about what Willow does and how it is run, and help run it.
We offer a mix of education, training, and work experience. Our support staff include qualified tutors and an occupational therapist.
All our activities will help you improve your English and maths skills and most people will also work towards a City and Guilds employment qualification. We work with CALAT adult education to deliver qualifications.
Willow is a social enterprise, this means that all the money we make is used to provide more opportunities for people with learning disabilities.

About Willow
We are a team of adults with learning disabilities working
together to make Croydon better. We make decisions about what

How much does it cost?
Every session of each of our activities or courses costs us £170 to
run.
We apply for funding to reduce the cost to members
Some of our courses are paid for by grant project funding. This
means the fees are paid by the funder and there is no cost to the
member.
Some of our other courses or activities are not funded by grant
project funding. For these courses we ask each member to pay £4
to help cover our costs.
There is more information about costs on each activity or course
page. There are also details on how to pay your fees at the back
of the booklet.
If you will need additional or 1 to 1 support please contact us for a
chat. We may be able to provide a support package. There is a
charge for this service which you may be able to fund through
direct payments.

Join our Snack Attack catering team running our pop up café. You will learn
about health and safety and food hygiene, how to prepare and serve food,
and how to handle money.
Work will include
Setting up
Cooking cakes, snacks and simple meals
Making tea and coffee using a coffee machine
Taking orders and money
Serving food

Learn to make and package beautiful soaps to sell. You will learn about
health and safety, making, pricing, and selling a product.
Work will include
weighing and mixing ingredients
preparing moulds

checking orders

You will be able to keep some of the soap you make.

Learn how to research and write news reports about what’s going on in
Croydon. Your articles will be featured on our social media sites and in Club
Soda’s Leisure Link magazine.
This group also finds out what people with learning disabilities want to do
and organises events including day trips and rambles.

Gain a business administration qualification.
You will learn about administration policies, how to use Word and Excel,
good telephone and message taking techniques, and working as a team.
You will also help with Willow’s administration.

Eat out peer leaders
Wednesday 10am – 12.30pm
OurSpace, Croydon
You will plan group meals out with friends, trying the culturally diverse range
of food available in Croydon.
You will learn about staying safe, first aid, travel, dietary needs, budgeting,
and communicating well with a group.
Your team will eat out once every 2 weeks.
At the end of the course you will be able to confidently arrange and manage
nights out with friends.
This course is funded by The Peoples Health Trust and is designed
to help reduce isolation and improve mental health. The course is
free, but you will need to pay for your own food when you go out.

Wednesday 10am – 12.30pm

You will plan weekly gentle group walks in Croydon, and longer walks in
surrounding areas.
You will learn about leadership skills, staying safe, first aid, travel, assessing
risk, budgeting, and communicating well with a group.
At the end of the course you will be able to confidently arrange and manage
rambles with friends.
This course is funded by Transport for London and is designed to help
people with learning disabilities improve their physical and mental health by
walking more often.

Have your say on the things that matter to you.
You will feedback to the staff at Croydon University hospital on what they
do well and what needs improving, and help train them to be better.
You can help decide what other things you want to make better and
campaign for positive change.

Help design and teach sessions for children in schools and online.
You will teach children about the great things people with learning
disabilities can do. And teach them to understand what it’s like to have a
disability, and what they can do to help.

Join our team of secret shoppers to help find out which Croydon businesses
treat people with learning disabilities well.
You will learn how to measure how good services are, and write a review on
them.
Your reviews will be shared on our social media to help other people decide
where to go.

Football training
Join our team the Croydon Knights.
Saturday 12noon-2pm. These sessions run all year round.
Practice football skills, work as a team and play friendly games at Arena
South Norwood. The first hour is warm up and skills practice on the grass,
followed by a game on the five a side pitch.
£4 per session
Wednesday 5pm-6pm (April-September).
Practice football skills, work as a team and play friendly games at Ashburton
Park. These sessions are held when it is light in the evenings.

Gentle ramble

This is a gentle ramble aimed at people of all abilities who want to keep fit,
meet friends, and see some of our beautiful local parks.
We meet at a tram stop each week and walk for an hour.
This course is funded by Transport for London and is designed to help
people with learning disabilities improve their physical and mental health by
walking more often.
