fish like eel, salmon, herring, sprat and mackerel were
added to the assortment. Today, Mooijer's smoked fish
is being sold in many fish deli's to consumers in many
1997 A sales office with storage capacity was built in Amsterdam.
In this trendy food center at the Jan van Galenstraat in Amsterdam
small retail and food service type customers can pick up a wide
range of products. Dozens of customers (mainly from the catering
industry) come here to get their frozen and fresh fish on a daily basis.
The history of Mooijer-Volendam B.V. goes back to the year
1932. The current owners Carlo and René Mooijer started
expanding the small prawn business to a global wholesale
in frozen, fresh and smoked fish products, where quality and
customer focus are first.
The company HOLSU (abbreviation for Holland-Suriname) was founded
in 1996 in Suriname, together with two partners from Harlingen (NL).
Nowadays, five boats sail under its own management and they daily
catch fresh Caribbean fish that is being processed and exported to
The Netherlands, China, Jamaica, Japan and the US.
