Our Lower School curriculum is carefully chosen and researched to focus

students on developing a deeper understanding of “Why.”

Teachers facilitate the talents and gifts of each child to help them to discover

new and creative ways to access knowledge, interpret content and develop and

share their ideas.

Montverde Academy has been accredited by the Florida Council of

Independent Schools (FCIS), the Southern Association of Independent

Schools (SAIS), and the Cognia (SACS/AdvancedEd).

A Quality Assurance Review is conducted jointly between NAIS, FCIS, and SACS/AdvancEd.

Curriculum

Second Step Social-Emotional Learning Curriculum across all grade levels.

Pre-K3: Our developmental curriculum is hands-on and play-based to promote growth in social

development, school readiness, academics, and self-help skills. We work to make students feel

safe and nurtured as they experience school for the first time. Curriculum introduced includes

mathematics, science, social studies, fine arts, technology, and foreign language.

Pre-K4: OWL by Pearson, Heggerty Phonics – Building on the developmental curriculum of

Pre-K3, our Pre-K4 program continues to promote growth in early literacy, early numeracy,

social development, and self-help skills. Looking at the individual needs of each child,

students grow and learn independently and collectively through small group and large group

experiences. Curriculum include: Handwriting without Tears, Spanish, PE, Music, and Art.

Kindergarten: Collaborative Classroom: Being a Reader, Being a Writer; Math in Focus – the

Singapore Method; Next Generation Science Standards, and Studies Weekly. Curriculum

include: Handwriting without Tears, Spanish, PE, Music, Art, Drama, Technology, and Library.

First Grade: Collaborative Classroom: Being a Reader, Being a Writer; Math in Focus – the

Singapore Method, Next Generation Science Standards, and Studies Weekly. Curriculum

include: Handwriting without Tears, Spanish, PE, Music, Art, Drama,Technology, and Library.
