2021 HOLIDAY DECORATING CONTEST
It is hard to believe that it is almost time for our annual decorating contest.
Homeowners should start planning their decorations for the contest; the
two best houses on either side of West Road will win $50 Gift Cards.
Judging will be done on Monday December 13th, so please have any
decorations that you wished to be included in the contest in place by
As a reminder, our garbage days are Monday and Thursday. If trash from
yard clippings and other sources are placed on the curb after these days,
they will need to be moved to the side/back of your house, out of view
from the street. Lawn companies should be reminded of this, as well.
Best Trash is being paid to empty your trashcans from your garage door.
Unless you desire, there isn’t any need to put your cans on the curb; they
will be emptied from in front of your garage door.
Trash Cans should be put out by 7 AM on the days of service (Monday and
Thursday) and should be removed from view by the end of the day. Any
cans left longer will be subject to a potential Deed Restriction violation
by the Homeowners Association.
Recyclables will still have to be placed at the curb; bins will not be
emptied from the front of the garage door.
If you have any issues with trash pickup, please contact Best Trash directly

If you have any issues with Best Trash, please contact them directly
instead of contacting Inframark.
Homes in the subdivision can only be leased for a MINIMUM of 6 months.
Anyone who leases/rents their homes MUST provide the first page of the
Rental Agreement to Inframark. Additional details about the process to
provide this information can be found on TownSquare.
It is a Deed Restriction Violation if homeowners do not provide the proper
documentation. If your home is already leased or rented, please provide
rental information to Inframark at your earliest convenience so that you
will not be in any violation.
We have had numerous complaints lately about the number of cars
being parked at certain houses. Society has evolved over the years from
one car to multiple-car households; unfortunately, the developers of the
subdivisions didn’t allocate enough space for parking. Associations are
at a loss about how to control parking; it is an issue that is fraught with
challenges and abuses.
The streets belong to the County; the HOA is unable to enforce traffic
laws as there is nothing in the covenants that limit the number of
personal vehicles a Resident may have. If a resident feels there is an issue
with parking, i.e., location of vehicle, blocking site lines, parking in front
of fire hydrants, etc., you may call the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on the
non-emergency line, which is 713-221-6000. As much as we would like to
do something about this issue, our hands are really tied on it. Therefore,
your best course of action would be to call the Sheriff’s office directly.
Inframark, our Property Management Company, has a website that
homeowners can log into to access current Association information. The
website is: townsquare.nabrnetwork.com; the site is constantly being
October 2021 | Copper Village
updated to provide the latest association news. You are also able to see
all pertinent governing documents related to the association.
All homeowners will need to register to access this website. Currently
there are less than one-half of the homeowners registered. Please
register to be able to access this website so that you can stay abreast of
HOA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Copper Village Board of Directors has been discussing possible 2022
Capital Projects. Proposed projects include:
a) Repair/replace the green wrought iron fence around the pool.
b) Upgrade/improve subdivision entrance signs.
c) Repair and/or replace the wooden fence we own along West Road.
d) Install lighting around the lake path.
e) Install swing set in empty lot on North side of West Road.
f) Install sidewalk passage through the empty lot by Gentlewood Court
to the walking trail.
g) Construct a new shelter for the lake pumps.
h) Install dog wash station near the clubhouse.
i) Add flowers/bushes in the little park on East Copper Village Drive.
While we are unable to do all of the projects due to their cost, we will
be able to do many of them. Please let Inframark know if you have any
feelings on one or more of these 2022 projects.
HOWDY NEIGHBOR! IMPORTANT NOTE:
Thank you to those who have cleaned your bronze street number plate
on your home exterior. PLEASE make sure your house number is visible
from the street. You might need to lower the shrubs that are blocking the
visibility of your house numbers. Or polish/clean the plate. This is very
important because in the event an emergency vehicle needs to find you
and can’t, it might be critical in time lost.

fun crafts to do
1. Start with the right pumpkin.
Choose one that's fresh, with a sturdy stem, no bruises, and a
flat bottom so it won't roll while you carve.
2. Cut from the bottom, not the top. Michael
Natiello, pumpkin carving pro and creative director for The Great
Jack-o'-Lantern Blaze, says cutting your "lid" from the bottom of
the pumpkin helps prevent the sides from caving in later.
3. If you do carve from the top, cut out the lid
on an angle. This way it won't drop inside the pumpkin
when you put it back on top, like it would with a straight upand-down
cut. A boning knife should work well for this.
4. Scoop out all the pulp (and then some). You
can buy a special "claw" for pumpkin gutting, but an ice cream
scoop will do just fine. Thin the inner wall of the "face" area to
1¼-inch thick, so it will be easier to pierce the shell.
5. Sketch out your design on paper first. If you
draw your jack-o'-lantern face to size, Natiello says you can
use it as a pattern: Just tape it to the front of your pumpkin
and use a fork or pencil to poke holes along the lines you want
to carve. (Or save yourself from creative blocks by getting a
pumpkin carving kit, complete with a marker, scraper, cutting
tools, and pre-made patterns.)
6. Hold the pumpkin in your lap. It's easier to create
features when the face is gazing up at you. Natiello suggests
using a serrated kitchen knife or an X-Acto knife for carving,
but to make intricate designs, you could try using a small saw.
Just don't cut on a slant — clean up-and-down slices look best.
How to carve a pumpkin
7. Start by making simple rough cuts. If you get
the big pieces of pumpkin out of the way first, you can go back
and clean up the edges of your design later.
8. Use your scraps creatively. Make a tongue, pipe,
or hair accessories out of a discarded piece of pumpkin shell,
9. Keep your pumpkin fresh. Natiello recommends
spreading petroleum jelly on the cut edges to seal in moisture.
If your pumpkin still shrivels a few days later, you can revive it
with a facedown soak in cold water for up to eight hours.
10. Create a chimney. First, leave the lid on for a few
minutes while the candle burns. Then make a small hole where
the lid has blackened. Or, save yourself the stress and go with
battery-operated votives instead.
11. Sprinkle cinnamon inside the lid. That way,
when you light the candle, your jack-o'-lantern will smell like
a pumpkin pie. Yum.

Hanging Bat Craft
Here’s a simple hanging bat craft for kids using empty toilet paper rolls. These
adorable cardboard tube bats are a great way for kids to help decorate for
fall or Halloween. They also make a great activity to go with the children’s
book, Stellaluna! (Free bat wing template is provided on website www.
Materials for Bat Craft
Cardboard tube (We used an empty toilet paper roll.)
Tempera paint (black or brown) and paintbrush
Construction paper (black or brown)
Black pipe cleaners
Single hole punch (This is my favorite! It can punch through multiple
sheets without making your hand sore!)
Marker (We used black and silver Sharpies.)

How to Make the Bat Craft
1. Paint your cardboard tube either black or brown (depending on the color
bat you’d like to make). This is our favorite tempera paint to use. I love the
colors and it doesn’t have a strong paint odor like other tempera paints.
2. While the cardboard tube is drying, draw some bat wings onto
construction paper and cut them out. (If you don’t want to draw them
yourself, you can use our bat wing template.)
3. Glue the wings onto the back of the cardboard tube.
4. Cut out some little triangles from your construction paper to make
ears. Glue these onto the bat, along with some googly eyes. Use a marker
to draw a mouth.
5. Punch two holes in the bottom of your cardboard tube. This is where
the legs will go.
6. Cut a black pipe cleaner in half. Twist one end of each pipe cleaner
through each punched hole.
7. To make the feet, snip off the last inch of each leg. Wrap the one-inch
piece of pipe cleaner around the bottom of each leg. Fold the middle part
of the foot to make a hook for hanging.
8. Hang your bat up for fall or Halloween!
