<strong>TNA</strong> Resolution<br />
Nurse Well Being and Resilience<br />
Whereas, The National Academy of Medicine has formed an action collaborative on clinician well-being and<br />
resilience;<br />
Whereas, clinician well-being supports improved patient-clinician relationships, a high-functioning care<br />
team, and an engaged and effective workforce;<br />
Whereas, The National Academy of Medicine reports 43% of nurses experience symptoms of burnout which<br />
can result in immense costs, personally, professionally, as well as, a cost to health care organizations and<br />
patient care;<br />
Whereas, nurses experience depressive symptoms at a rate more than double that of the general adult<br />
population and untreated depression can lead to suicide; therefore, be it<br />
Resolved, that the Tennessee Nurses Association will stand with and support all nurses in improving<br />
resiliency and well-being; and be it further<br />
Resolved, that the Tennessee Nurses Association will provide resources for nurses to measure burnout and<br />
encourage individual strategies to promote well-being; and be it further<br />
Resolved, that the Tennessee Nurses Association will encourage institutions and hospitals to respond and<br />
provide nurse wellness/resiliency programs; and be it further<br />
Resolved, that the Tennessee Nurses Association will work with appropriate parties to create transparency<br />
in nurse suicide reporting.<br />
