HOW MANY PINTEREST
BOARDS HAVE YOU
CREATED FOR YOUR
WEDDING DAY? HOW
MANY FOR STYLING?
Styling of your event space is
single-handly the most important
(fine, second most important) aspect
of your wedding day. To be able to
transform a blank space into your
dream setting, there is some weight
to investing in the little details.
Whether you are a traditional bride,
or a modern one, there is one thing
we know for sure when it comes to
styling; be true to yourself and your
personality. Whilst styling trends come
and go, it is vital that you stay true to
your personal preferences and desires.
Whether you prefer a simple
arrangement or life-size tree’s, this is
not the time to experiment with your
innate tastes.

PERSONALISE
Let each guest know

Consider a custom

HOW TO MAKE YOUR
STYLING LOOK
EXPENSIVE
Working with a budget? Don’t worry,
we all are. What if we told you, there’s
a way to save some money keeping
your styling luxe?
Let’s start with something easy.
Menus. A small detail with big impact.
And the best part is, menus can be
made by yourself!
Ask your Invitation Specialist for the
fonts and colours used on your invite,
and download whatever necessary.
Hop onto Photoshop or Canva
and create your own personalised

REAL
OR
FAKE?
THE AGE OLD
QUESTION:
TO DO REAL
OR FAKE FLORALS.
CAN GUESTS
REALLY TELL?
The answer is, yes - some of them
will notice. And if that is a big deal
for you, then why not have both?
The most common trend is mixing
engineered florals with real foliage
or vice versa.
One thing to note; anything that
can be touched by guests, try and
keep real. This is where it is most
noticeable.
Otherwise, go crazy!

trends
Events come and go, but what
remains are the memories of them
celebrated through trends.
While it’s important to recognise trends, it’s even
more important not to get carried away - your
wedding day is afterall all about you and
your own style and tastes.
2021 so far has made waves when it comes
to trends. Fluctuating guest numbers have
made couples more focused on the
spectacle of the event: entertainment
and styling.
Let us get creative and dive into what is
circling around the wedding trend globe.
1
KEEP IT
TIGHT
THE GUEST LIST THAT IS
Since the start of 2020, we have seen couples
put their event budget toward more elaborate
styling and entertainment. Guest numbers may
have caps but that expense can be put to creating
an unforgettable experience for your guests. The
Events Couture Team by Navarra have witnessed
this firsthand, stating, “More entertainment, more
styling, more experience. It’s been incredible to see
such WOW events come to life.”

BE A SIZE
QUEEN
BRIGHT, BOLD & UNSTRUCTURED
Florals are THE most important part
of styling. So what’s the trend in floral
arrangements right now? Think large.
Think bright. Think bold and unstructured.

BALLS OF

HYDRANGEAS: HERE TO STAY
A versatile flower that comes in
various colours, hydrangeas will
definitely fit with any theme or
styling you can imagine. As a
hardy flower, there’s so much you
can do with them either as an
accent or the hero, hydrangeas
will bring the extra pop to any
floral arrangement. Now this is a
trend that needs to stay.

TREND ALERT:
FORESTRY
Bring the outdoors in and transform your space
into a whimisical wonderland and have a fairytale
wedding that will wow your guests:
Start with large greenery and shrubbery as your
florals. Use baby’s breath and light-coloured
shrubbery to keep the space light and airy.
For your accessories, use mirrors, clear glass and
acrylics to create a sense of space and openness.
Reflective surfaces always make a space appear
larger and your florals more abundant.
Get your entertainers to go
along with your theme. Have
them wear long flowing light
coloured outifts and even get
them to grab a piece of your
florals to use on their outifts
or in their hair.
Tie all these elements
together, complete your
vision of enchanted whimsy
and blow your guests away
with a magical wedding to
remember!

ENTERTAINMENT
IS ENTERTAINMENT REALLY IMPORTANT?
Perform
#01 Art #02 Music #03
From dancers, to gymnasts,
event performers can come in
all shapes and sizes. Suitable
for intimate celebrations, or
grand-scale events, consider
the eye-catching movement
of these talented humans for
your wedding.
Take your event entertainment
to the next level
with this unique offering.
Highlight local street artists
or professional event artists,
as they capture the attention
of your guests prior to the
reception even starting.
The classic, and always
effective musician/band
is the right way to go. Set
the mood with a range of
instruments/talents that best
suit your personal taste. The
best thing about music, you
can have more than one band
throughout the celebration.
14 THE MAGAZINE VOL 1
01
Plan for pre-dinner too
Don’t let boredom get the best of your guests
before the start of your reception. Remember
that before the reception, expect a minimum of
1/2 an hour pre-dinner drinks and canapes to
be served. What’s more awkward than silence
during this time?
Things
You Should
Know About
Entertainment
02
Make your guests
feel extra special
Give your event that touch of luxe. With
entertainment, comes a taste of expense.
Whether it be a musician or dancer, having at
least one form of entertainment can have your
guests feeling that they’re attended a special
type of celebration.
03
Show your true colours
Represent YOU! Entertainment is one of
the most obvious ways to best display your
personality and preferences. Choose the type
of performer and/or music genre, and have
guests knowing more about you.
BY NAVARRA
15
04
Distracted and
happy guests
Keep everyone happy and distracted. There is a
high chance that someone (we know the ones),
will have something to say about something.
Keep these guests busy with entertainment to
take their mind far, far, far away.
05
Get it together
Let your entertainers and entertainment
be part of the styling and venue, it would
help with the mood and cohesiveness of
your event. If you are having a wedding at a
comtemporary and chic venue, like Montage,
consider a modern jazz band; if you’re having
a garden ceremony at one of our gardens,
consider a string quartet and have the ladies
wear a flowers from your styling arrangments
to match the event.
06
Share your love
Lastly, entertainment is important because it’s
your day to celebrate your love told through
the physical. Whilst all love is intangible, a
wedding is a physical showcase of this. Set the
scene of your love through the choice of music
and entertainer, so others can gain a deeper
understanding of your love through the physical.
16
IPS
DIETARY
REQUIREMENTS
“Has it got nuts in it?”, “Oh, I don’t eat
meat.”, are you sick of hearing these
at a dinner with friends or family and
feeling bad for the wait staff having to
return plates to the kitchen? Well guess
what? You’re the host now. Stop this
from happening on your watch by discussing
with your caterer what dietary
options they have, and also by asking all
your guests what they can or can’t have
on their plates. Create a list for your
organiser - if you are using one - or for
your own reference.
FOOD
GLORIOUS
FOOD
IT’S ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT
ASPECTS OF EVERY EVENT,
SO MAKE IT GOOD!
FOOD -
EVERYWHERE
Main courses and dessert aren’t the only
foods you’ll have to pick when you’re
hosting an event. Think about canapés
on arrival, food stations (post-covid)
or even degustation menus if you are
wanting to make that impact.
WHAT IS AN
ALTERNATE SERVE?
Chicken and Beef...Those are the
first words we think of when
someone says venue food. Abolish
the stigma around main courses for
your party and consider organising
options that go against the status quo.
From Grilled Salmon Fillet to
an Encrusted Rack of Lamb, tantalise
taste buds and witness a food
experience like no other.

OUR CHEF CHRIS’ FAMOUS
SPAGHETTI
ALLA CARBONARA
They say that all roads lead to Rome,
when in reality, they lead to Chef Chris’ Famous
Spaghetti alla Carbonara. “This is the best
pasta in the world!” says Chris Reali.
INGREDIENTS
1 tbsp Black Peppercorns
5 cups Pecorino Romano
320g
Guanciale
500g
Spaghetti
METHOD
1. Dry-roast the black peppercorns in a frying pan over
low heat. Keep swirling for 5 minutes, or until fragrant.
Cool, then grind with a mortar and pestle. Combine with
Pecorino Romano.
2. Cook guanciale in a saucepan over medium heat,
stirring occasionally, for 7 minutes or until fat renders and
guanciale is crisp. Leave guanciale in the pan with 2 tbsp
of fat and reserve 1 tbsp of fat separately.
3. Cook pasta in a large saucepan of salted boiling water
until just short of al dente (2 minutes less than the time on
packet instructions). Drain, reserving 1 litre pasta water.
4. Return pan with fat and guanciale to medium heat.
Add pasta and a ladleful of pasta water, then increase heat
to high and stir constantly, adding pasta water as needed
until pasta is al dente (2 minutes). Remove pan from heat
and gradually stir in pecorino mixture, reserving a little
extra to serve. Add reserved fat, and stir constantly until
emulsified, adding a little more pasta water if needed.
RECIPE
5. Serve immediately and top with remaining
Pecorino mixture.

SPACE
THE IMPORTANCE OF YOUR WEDDING SPACE
Your event space is what sets the scene for your
wedding ceremony or reception. Determine your
space depending on the ‘vibes’ you are trying to
achieve for your big day.
For a European Vibe, consider the
French Chateau, Oatlands House.
With historic detailing and your
very own vineyard, who doesn’t
want to escape to another world?
If a grand romance is more
your style, Curzon Hall is for
you. This breathtaking castle
is set on acres of gardens and
features Horse stables.
Whether you are a modern or
traditional kind-of-gal/guy,
Montage is for you. Set on the
bayside in the Inner West of Sydney,
this contemporary space radiates
luxury and class.
Now, if the vibes for your wedding
space scream ‘MAGNIFICENCE’ and
you want nothing more than the
perfect blank space to create your
dream event, than Conca D’oro is the
place for you.
Before booking your wedding space,
whether it be a ceremony, reception
or both, it’s important to recongise
the atmosphere you are hoping to
achieve before booking.
If you are vibin’ any of the above
spaces, find out more on each by

“Talkin’ about
“Yes, it was a wedding
before the wedding.”
PRE-WEDDINGS
Only but a few years ago, some
cultures would celebrate the lead
up to their big day with a massive
‘pre-wedding’ celebration. These
parties would consist of hundreds
of people. Yes, it was a wedding
before the wedding.
With the shift of events as we know,
one change we have noticed is that
people are choosing to stick with
hosting more private and exclusive
pre-wedding celebrations.
Couples are opting to put their budget
toward styling a special dinner hosted
by the families, as they keep this affair
different to that of the wedding.
Now, that seems logical.
21
Where’s
the best space
for your
pre-wedding?
MODERN CHIC BAYSIDE VIEWS
If you are looking for a luxury and private
dining experience with exclusive restaurant
and bar vibes, consider The Lobby. This
bayside gem will create a special and chic
space for your event.
IT’S TIME TO THINK
OUTSIDE THE BOX.
The average bridal party, including parents, is 14. Chuck in a
few extra family members and friends, and your pre-wedding
celebration can be hitting numbers around 60 to 100 people.
In saying this, because of the lower guest number compared to
your wedding, the options as to where it can be held are limitless.
UNDERGROUND HIPSTER VIBES
However, should you be considering more
of a venue space, Conca D’oro’s Den is the
newest and coolest private function space
with trendy interiors, including luxe, deep
green walls and gold accenting. Did we say
it was underground too?

FUN FACT:
What are Run Sheets?
Most venues have something called a ‘Run Sheet’. This is
an all inclusive document that details the event from start
until finish. Should you want to feature something special,
make sure your co-ordinator has it on the Run Sheet, so your
Banquet Manager can make it happen.
