Olympic silver medalist Teahna Daniels visits The First Academy, her alma mater. The First Academy community welcomed a special guest during halftime at the school’s first football game of the season. TFA alumna Teahna Daniels recently won a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for the women’s 4x100m relay. She is the first TFA alumni to not only quality for the Olympics but also to medal. The TFA family couldn’t be more proud of her accomplishments. Team Orlando Watersports Complex claimed its seventh overall traditional national title and the feature title at the 2021 Nautique World Wake Association Wake Park National Championships. Wakeboard teams from across the country competed at the event hosted by Elite Cable Park. Not only did the group bring home the gold, Team OWC had 14 podium finishes and five gold medals amongst their 34-person team. In the pro men features division, MetroWest resident Trent Stuckey won the overall title. His brother, Gavin, placed third. Southwest Orlando resident Will Hooker won the junior men’s division, and Celebration resident Bryce Lyles came in second for the novice wakeboard. “I am very proud of our team for winning their seventh consecutive title during the Nautique WWA Wake Park Nationals,” said Kellan Rudnicki, Aktion Parks director of operations. “The OWC family are strong individuals [who] care about the progression of their teammates. They have written quite a story of the years, and I am looking forward to how they will excel in the future.” Southwest Orlando athletes are making the cut in collegiate sports. Windermere resident Arron Edwards joined the Central Methodist University football team. Gabriel Bertolazzo Araujo of Winter Garden is playing football for Assumption University. Also Windermere resident Aaron Deal competed on season three of American Ninja Warrior Junior. This year’s show is divided into three age divisions: 10, 11-12 and 13-14. Deal had a great first qualifying run in the 10-year-old division. Mimiking his favorite animal, the wolf, Deal’s family howled during his run while he pulled ahead of his opponent and won the round. However, his momentum was stopped during the knockout run, but his family and friends were proud of his excellent performance on the TV show.
