is Kimpton Clocktower Hotel. Dating back

to the 1800s, the magnificent Grade II listed

Jane Haselden is the General Manager at Best

Western Cresta Court Hotel in Altrincham,

Manchester. The stylish and contemporary

hotel offers a choice of seven meeting and event

spaces, suitable for one-to-one meetings through

to large celebrations and corporate gatherings

for up to 350 delegates.

Having been in the role of GM for the past three

months, it’s a great time to catch-up with Jane

and find out more on her working day…

Tell us how a typical working

day starts for you?

I like to arrive at the hotel in time to check in with

the night team and ensure everything is ok before

seeing the breakfast team and chatting with

our regular guests and corporate clients staying

at the hotel. A walk round the property to see

everything is ok and a catch-up with reception

normally follows and then it’s time for a coffee,

a look at our revenue figures and reply to

guest reviews.

We have a team briefing every morning which

is great for sharing information and then I’ll

have various appointments and meetings

throughout the day, like getting together with the

maintenance and housekeeping teams.

I’ll also put some time aside to review our

business plans and keep up to speed with what’s

going on in the industry.

What’s the most rewarding

part of your job?

It’s two things; training and mentoring team

members, watching them grow and develop

is highly rewarding. And secondly, great guest

feedback is always good for the whole team.

Are there any events held at

Hotel that standout for you?

Well I’ve been at the hotel for three months and

in this time it’s been exceptionally busy with

people playing catch-up with missed events like

weddings, receptions, birthdays, baby showers,

so they’ve all been special. It’s been great seeing

the return of corporate meetings and training

days too. Business is definitely bouncing back

and if there are companies who are a little

nervous about holding events, we’re happy to

work with them to so they feel safe

and comfortable.

Everyone is looking forward to

2022 - what plans are in the

pipeline for the hotel?

We are looking forward to more companies and

organisations growing in confidence, booking

their events and meeting face-to-face. We think

2022 is going to be a busy year for us as we grow

our corporate market and also look at bringing

some great events to the property. We’re ready to

welcome regular and new clients to the hotel.

How does your working day

finish? And what do you do in

your spare time?

I always ensure that the teams have a handover

of any relevant information needed for their shift

and then I like to visit each department, check that

everyone is ok. If I need to step in anywhere with

support, I’ll do that until I’m comfortable to the

leave the building.

In my spare time I will catch up with my family.

Spend time in my home and try to relax with a nice

glass of wine! I enjoy my holidays. I’m really looking

forward to some time away in 2022, jumping on a

plane and taking me to the sunshine!

Latest news

Church House Westminster has created a new

instant event package to help event organisers find

last-minute venue hire solutions until the end of 2021.

The all-inclusive day time conference

packages include room hire and

audio-visual equipment for in-person

events from £6,385. Event organisers

can choose to include live streaming with

a £1,495 bolt-on or make the conference

hybrid with a £2,000 supplement.

The move follows an influx of last-minute

venue hire requests in recent months,

expertly organised by the expert venue

team, which boasts both in-situ event

planners and technologists.

cancellations because of reduced staffing

and supplier issues experienced within the
