The Berwyn Group<br />
Felix F. Federowicz is president of the Berwyn Group. Felix began his career as a physicist in a laser<br />
engineering and manufacturing firm in 1971. He soon found that his ability to solve complex problems<br />
in the laboratory proved invaluable in the area of business. When asked by a colleague for some<br />
practical ideas about improving a severe customer services issue for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of<br />
Ohio, he was able to improve customer service response time from over 24 hours to answer a<br />
customer complaint to less than 5 minutes, while at the same time cutting customer service personnel<br />
by 50 percent. Felix served in many managerial and executive positions for over 20 years in the<br />
insurance industry prior to forming the Berwyn Group. He is well known for his innovations in solving<br />
and crafting complex data mining and analysis solutions for his customers. His company was first to<br />
develop a comprehensive solution for the insurance industry related to the new regulatory audit<br />
requirements.<br />
Paul F. D'Emilio<br />
Supreme Council of the Royal Arcanum<br />
Paul D'Emilio serves as General Counsel for the Supreme Council of the Royal Arcanum. Paul has been<br />
engaged in the private practice of law since June 1974. His bar memberships include the Supreme<br />
Court of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; the United States District Court for the Eastern District of<br />
Pennsylvania; and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Paul is a past director for<br />
the <strong>American</strong> <strong>Fraternal</strong> <strong>Alliance</strong> (then known as the NFCA) and served on the NFCA Law Committee.<br />
He is a current member on the <strong>Alliance</strong>’s Solvency Task Force. Paul also is Vice-President for the<br />
Association of <strong>Fraternal</strong> Benefit Counsel (AFBC).<br />
Al Lorge, CPA, CLU, FLMI<br />
Catholic Financial Life<br />
As Secretary, Treasurer and Executive Vice President for Catholic Financial Life, Al is responsible for<br />
coordinating all Board reporting, overseeing the flow of management information, maintaining<br />
relationships with insurance regulatory authorities, coordinating the strategic planning process and<br />
overseeing all investment and banking activities. He also oversees technology and records retention<br />
functions and is actively involved in the Society’s mergers and acquisitions plans. Al joined the Society<br />
in September, 1981, as its first Controller, was named Secretary that November, assumed Treasurer’s<br />
responsibilities in 1986, was named Senior VP in 2007 and has served as president of the Society’s<br />
securities broker/dealer subsidiary since its founding in 1995. Al also served as Chief Financial Officer<br />
from 1986 to September, 2011, when he assumed his current Executive VP responsibilities. Al<br />
currently serves as a member of the Finance Council and the Investment Committee of the<br />
Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Al is active in several other professional and civic organizations. Before<br />
joining the society, Al spent nine years in public accounting, specializing in banking, insurance and<br />
financial services companies.<br />
