Registration Procedure<br />
<strong>Stamford</strong> residents are given first priority to register for all programs.<br />
Non-Residents may register for programs on an availability basis one<br />
week prior to the start <strong>of</strong> the program, with a $10.00 surcharge. This<br />
does not apply to athletic leagues which have separate eligibility polices.<br />
Registrations are not accepted at any <strong>of</strong> our programs & must be<br />
done in advance at the Recreation Office or ONLINE.<br />
Fee Payment<br />
Instructors CANNOT accept registration at the class. Fees must be<br />
paid at the Recreation Services Office in advance. Payments may be<br />
made by cash, check and credit card only. Credit cards will be accepted<br />
at the Recreation Services Office, or on line with Visa and<br />
Master Card Only! You must be 16 years old to register for adult<br />
programs and 21 years <strong>of</strong> age for casino trips.<br />
All checks should be made payable to the <strong>City</strong> Of <strong>Stamford</strong><br />

Reduced Fee Policy<br />
Any child that receives free or reduced lunch in the <strong>Stamford</strong> Public<br />
School System is eligible for a reduced fee on selected programs,<br />
events & camps. A copy <strong>of</strong> the school lunch certificate must be<br />
supplied at the time <strong>of</strong> registration to receive the reduced rate. Programs<br />
that this applies to are marked in the pages ahead. There<br />
is also a maximum number <strong>of</strong> reduced fee slots available per program<br />
or camp.<br />
Refund Policy<br />
Refunds shall be granted before a class begins for an incapacitating<br />
medical hardship with a doctor’s note, relocation<br />
with documented pro<strong>of</strong> or if a waiting list is available and<br />
the spot can be filled. Any approved refund will be granted<br />
minus a 15% processing fee. If we cancel a program for any<br />
reason, there will be a full refund with no processing fee.<br />
Any refund granted after a class begins shall be prorated in<br />
addition to the 15% processing fee. If false information is<br />
given on a registration form, the registration is null and<br />

Returned Check<br />
If a check is returned to Recreation Services for any reason, a<br />
cash or money order payment <strong>of</strong> $50.00 plus the face value <strong>of</strong><br />
the check is required immediately.<br />
Class Cancellation<br />
Whenever schools are closed due to bad weather or holidays, all<br />
youth recreational programs scheduled will be cancelled. Cancellation<br />
announcements can be heard on WSTC 1400 AM ,<br />
WTNH Channel 8 News, Channel 12 News, WGCH 1490 AM<br />
or by calling our cancellation phone line at 977-4641 EXT. 111<br />
or 977-5214.<br />
On-Line Registration Is Fast and Easy<br />
We now have on line registration available for residents by logging<br />
on to www.stamfordrecreation.com Registrations can<br />
only be paid by credit card on line with a Visa or Mastercard.<br />
On-Line registration for spring and most summer programs<br />
begins at 8:30AM on the first day <strong>of</strong> registration which will be<br />

Breakfast With The Bunny & Early Childhood Programs<br />
Breakfast With The Bunny<br />
Bring the whole family to a pancake breakfast with Mr. &<br />
Mrs. Sebastian Bunny. After a delicious breakfast <strong>of</strong> pancakes,<br />
bacon, juice and c<strong>of</strong>fee, children will be able to visit<br />
with Mr. & Mrs. Bunny. Each child will receive a small treat<br />
and some colorful eggs. This event is open to children <strong>of</strong> all<br />
ages with a parent or guardian. Tickets must be purchased<br />
in advance at the Recreation Office. There will be two<br />
seatings with a maximum <strong>of</strong> 140 participants per seating.<br />

At Soccer Tykes, we stress a non-competitive environment.<br />
This is a child development program for kids ages 3 - 6.<br />
Classes are designed to develop motor skills, promote physical<br />
fitness, and create self-confidence. We also mix fun, skill development<br />
activities with actual small sided games Listed below<br />

A full list <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>ferings for Session 3 is now posted on the<br />

This is not the previous city-funded Project Music Program <strong>of</strong> private<br />
lessons. This is a successor program <strong>of</strong>fering group lessons and ensemble<br />
classes for student instrumentalists. It is a fee-based program<br />
designed and administered by Mrs. Polly Jimenez, former Project<br />
Music Coordinator. Several <strong>of</strong> the current teaching staff also come<br />
from Project Music. We now <strong>of</strong>fer group lessons and instruction for<br />
ensemble groups in voice, guitar, piano, strings, woodwinds, brass,<br />
and drums. All <strong>Stamford</strong> residents who are 4 th -12 th grade students<br />
are welcome. You may register for one or more <strong>of</strong>ferings as you<br />
choose, and siblings are welcome.<br />

will be ensemble groups that will be focused on a final<br />
performance in late May at Westover School auditorium<br />
or on performances in the community. We are <strong>of</strong>fering as<br />
much variety <strong>of</strong> day and time as possible to accommodate<br />
as many students as possible who want to play. Groups<br />

Heroy Summer Day Camp<br />
The Heroy Day Camp is open to children 6 - 12 years old<br />
located on Riding Stable Trail. Each day campers will be<br />
involved in such activities as arts & crafts, sports, swimming,<br />
board games, water games, Play Station games, competitions,<br />
tennis, swimming and more. Campers are grouped<br />
by grade so they will be involved in activities and events that<br />
are age appropriate. We also <strong>of</strong>fer weekly camp themes,<br />
field trips, several special events and an end <strong>of</strong> the summer<br />
family picnic. This program <strong>of</strong>fers a ten to one camper to<br />
staff ratio. Also, our activity room is air conditioned and has<br />
a large indoor arts & crafts room. The camp will run for 7<br />
weeks from Wednesday, June 29th through Friday, August<br />
12th, 2011. Normal camp hours are Monday through<br />
Friday from 9:00AM - 4:00PM with extended AM & PM<br />
care available for an additional charge. Our AM care is open<br />
from 7:30AM - 9:00AM and the PM care is from 4:00PM -<br />
5:30PM. A max <strong>of</strong> 40 spots are available for each time slot.<br />
The cost will be an additional $25.00 per week for AM or<br />

Newfield & Stillmeadow Activity Program<br />
The Activity Programs will be open to children 6 - 12 years<br />
old ONLY and will be open Monday through Friday<br />
from 8:00AM - 4:00PM . This year campers will be divided<br />
by age groups and will participate in age specific<br />
activities each day. Younger campers will no longer be<br />
allowed to participate in activities with older children. The<br />
only time this may occur will be during supervised “All<br />
Camp: Special Events. Parents will sign campers in /out<br />
each day in their campers designated class room. There are<br />
three major field trips during the summer which will be<br />
<strong>of</strong>fered to campers that they must sign up for separately.<br />
Trips will take a maximum <strong>of</strong> 90 campers per site and parents<br />
will be required to sign a permission slip in order for<br />
the child to go. All trips are on a first come first serve sign<br />
up bases when they are announced. Swimming is provided<br />
two times a week at either the <strong>City</strong> pools or trips to Cummings<br />
Beach and are on a sign up bases. Other activities<br />
include Ice Skating , cartooning classes, special events and<br />
more. There are indoor capability at both Activity Programs,<br />
therefore we do not close due to inclement weather.<br />
Activities include sports, arts& crafts, swimming, board<br />
games, music, reading program, special events and more.<br />

Skyhawks Golf focuses on building the confidence <strong>of</strong><br />
young athletes through proper technique and refining the<br />
essential skills <strong>of</strong> the game. Golf is a challenging and lifelong<br />
sport, so young athletes need proper focus on the<br />
fundamentals <strong>of</strong> form, swinging, putting, and body positioning.<br />
To assist in this training, Skyhawks has adopted<br />
the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system to its curriculum.<br />
SNAG is specifically designed for the entry-level<br />
player; SNAG simplifies instruction so that young players<br />
can make an easy and effective transition onto the golf<br />
course. No need to bring your own clubs--all equipment is<br />
provided. For safety reasons we utilize special helmets for<br />
all campers and keep the instructor-to-camper ratio for this<br />
program very low, resulting in limited availability. These<br />

Come learn from one <strong>of</strong> the NFL most successful franchise as<br />
<strong>Stamford</strong> Recreation Co-sponsors this youth football camp <strong>of</strong>fered<br />
by the NY Giants. The camp is open to students ages 6-14 and all<br />
camps are non-contact. Comprehensive Skills and the new Accelerated<br />
Skills Section are available. Campers are led by pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
educators and college coaches. Our coaches develop athletic skill,<br />
build confidence and provide positive reinforcement. These outstanding<br />

Dinosaur Discovery Junior is similar to our EXPLORER program, however, brought down to a pre-school level. Designed to<br />
give your child/children a hands-on experience while learning about dinosaurs. Students learn about becoming a paleontologist<br />
and how to dig for fossils by going on a fossil dig in class. We combine computer technology, games and arts and crafts.<br />

Horseback Riding Lessons ( Ages 5 & Up)<br />
Horseback Riding Lessons With Mead Farm<br />
We have teamed up with Mead Farm in <strong>Stamford</strong> to <strong>of</strong>fer horseback riding lessons for children ages 5 & up, teenagers and even<br />
adults are welcome. Each session with an instructor includes a 1/2 hour horseback riding lesson in an outdoor ring plus 1/2<br />
horsemanship classes covering general horse care, grooming, tacking & untacking. Requirements are a signed waiver, long<br />
pants & boots with heels. Mead farm will supply the helmet. Participants must wear warm clothing for this outdoor program.<br />
