Life at Bishop Selwyn Village
A day in the life of a resident
at Bishop Selwyn Village offers

Every day there is an outing or
activity organised.
Our Thursday quiz afternoons are
attended with much anticipation as
quiz master extraordinaire, Alan,
creates a list of questions to try and
stump some of our masterminds.
They are an intelligent and sharpwitted
bunch who enjoy pitting their
knowledge against each other. At the
end of the quiz, happy hour and an
informal chat listening to the stories
and experiences from this varied and
interesting group are shared.
The beautiful gardens at Bishop
Selwyn are a pride and joy, with our
green fingered Barb and Graeme
leading the way. Residents love
the fact they can choose what they
wish to plant in their little piece of
paradise. They can have as much or
as little involvement as they want
in the garden, with a permanent
gardener there to pick up the slack.
The bird aviary lovingly attended to
by Rosemary and John brings much
pleasure to residents and visitors
alike. The colourful array of birds is
much admired by all. Closing your
eyes and listening to the sounds, you
would be forgiven for thinking you
are in a native forest and not just
minutes away from the city, Hagley
Park, Christchurch hospital and
shopping malls - talk about the best of
both worlds.
To round off our talented bunch of
residents we have the creative and
crafty Lorraine and Merv with his
beautiful woodwork skills.
