pioneer scholars
Pioneer Scholars ensures that elementary
and middle school students are building
academic skills, achieving in school,
and laying the foundation for future
college success.
+ Pioneer Scholars served 82 students in the
2020-2021 school year.
+ Students stayed actively engaged in virtual
programming for the duration of the school year
and had the option to participate in three weeks
of project-based summer instruction.

Scholars to College ensures that high school students
challenge themselves academically and personally and explore
their unique leadership potential, ultimately becoming high
school seniors who are scholarship-eligible, college-ready, and
admissible to their best-fit college or university.
+ Scholars to College served 121 students in the
2020-2021 school year.
+ The Class of 2021 received 202 acceptances to 81
different colleges and universities and received more than
$2.4 million in scholarships and grants. On average, 85%
of their first-year college costs are covered.

Jaden first came to the Center as a 3rd
grader at Maureen Joy Charter School.
Today, he’s an accomplished 8th grader
who enjoys math and science and wants
to be a chef when he grows up. From
field trips to special projects, Jaden
always takes advantage of everything

NEIDA
Neida first began at the Center as an elementary
school student in Pioneer Scholars. Now she is a
proud Jordan High School Class of 2021
graduate enrolled at Appalachian State
University. During her high school career, Neida
stayed busy with the Center’s Scholars to
College program, her school newspaper and
basketball team, and Junior Leadership Durham.
