thriledtobebackandLIVE!“AliceinWonderland”marks
ourfirstshowbackonstagesincethestartofthepandemic.
IthasbeenaVERYlongtimecomingandwecannotwaitto
seeyousitingoutthereinouraudience.
Thepandemichasbeendevestaingtotheartscommunity.
Theatreshavebeenshutdownfornearly18months.When
theywerealowedtore-openitwaswithreducedcapacity
andrestrictions.Thisyearwewereunabletouseourusual
venue,TheOakvileCentreforthePerformingArts.Sowe
thoughtwhat’snot“traditional”butstilatheatre?Amovie
theatre!Film.caCinemascametoourrescue.
Thisyearwewereabletorecreatethemagicofmoviesandblenditwithlivetheatre.
AhybridshowthatworkswonderfulyinaCinemaasourvenue.
Safetyhasbeenourtopprioritythroughoutthisprocess.BOTG hasmadethe
decisionthisyearthatalcastandcrewhavetobefulyvaccinatedtobepartofthe
production.Maskshaveremainedonthroughouttheentirerehearsalprocess.When
wegetonstagetheperformerswilbeunmaskedbutwehaveimplementedrapid
testingofalperformersbeforeeachshow.
Weareexcitedtoalsoannounceourfirstspringmusicalsince2019!Wewilpresent
“RENT”atTheOakvileCentreforthePerformingArtsApril6-10,2022.Thecastis
setandthissuretobeanincredibleshowyoudon;twanttomiss.
BOTG hasastudiospacethatisourhomeforreherasals,meetings,set,costumes,
andprops.Westilhadtomaintainthisspacewhileclosed.Abigreasonweareable
togetbackonstageisthankstotheOntarioTrilium FoundatonandTheGovernment
ofOntarioawardingasaCommunityBuildingFundgrantthatsupportstheoperating
costsoforganizationlikeBOTG.Thankyouforhelpingcommunitytheatresurviveand
helpingusentertainouraudiencesagain.
Returningtolivetheatreandadaptingtoanon-traditionalspacehasshownusthat
theatrewilsurvive.Thehsowwilandmustgoon.Wethankyouforsupportingus
