Friday 17th December 2021

As the Omicron virus has become the dominant Covid strain in Scotland the Government has

issued new guidance on how we should operate. Please make sure to read the Covid 19 section

later in the newsletter. The good news, for now at least, is that there is no change to how we book

or play golf.

Pitchmarks - It seems that we are now into the season for them and they have been making quite

a number of appearances in recent times. Not only are they unsightly but if they go unrepaired

will leave blemishes that will take several months to come out, but only once the growing season

starts again. Please make sure that you look for and repair your own, and also ensure that your

playing partners do the same. Our greenkeeping team do a great job in presenting the course for

us all to enjoy so lets make sure we do what we can to help.

Please note that if you would like to come for a roast on Boxing Day you MUST pre order on or before 23rd December

Golf Courses

It’s been unseasonably warm this week so the mowers have been back out again on both courses with the greens,

tees, greens surrounds and fairways all getting a trim. The downside to this weather is that the cutting routine takes

the team away from carrying out the tasks on the winter programme. The fairways on both courses have also been

brushed to lift up any flatter lying grasses as this opens up the canopy letting light into the newly seeded areas

promoting a healthier plant.

On the Championship Course the team continue with the revetting of the bunkers on top of the hill at the 17th and the

revetting and tiding around the 8th tee is now complete. We have started to turf worn areas on pathways and the turfing

of weaker areas on the fairways is on-going. The greens and greens surrounds have been sprayed with iron which will

help harden the plant during the winter making it less susceptible to disease.

On the Struie Course the tees have been sprayed with iron and we have also started that on the fairways. The greens

have been sprayed with fungicide to knock back any disease spores that may be present during this mild period. The

turfing of the weak and worn greens surrounds is now complete.

Play from Mats - When you see a mat on a teeing ground then you MUST use this for your tee shot.

Bunkers - We have reinstated the Preferred Lie local rule for the time being.

Thanks for reading.

Happy Golfing!
