Without warning, the boy she had been watching chugged the contents of his
mug and stood up, making his way to the table she was seated at. She was
wrong. So, very wrong. Getting chewed out by a stranger for her creepy
behavior was a terrible way to spend Christmas Eve.
The boy took a seat. He even smiled at her, which was the exact opposite of
what she expected. “Hey,” he said, brown eyes alight with an emotion she
couldn’t decipher.
“Hi?” She didn’t mean for it to come out as a question, but she was nervous.
The boy was handsome. Too handsome.
He quirked a dark brow. “Were you watching me?”
“No.”
“Liar.”
She crossed her arms. “You would have had to be watching me to know if I
was watching you.”
“I was watching you. Sort of.” He grinned boyishly. “I was working up the
courage to come talk to you.”
“Aren’t you waiting for someone?”
“No?” he answered, a bit confused.
“So you’re alone on Christmas Eve? That’s kind of sad.”
“Then I guess we’re both kind of sad.”
“Speak for yourself—I’m perfectly content.”
