Junior Museum & Zoo Camps Zoo Camp Experience the new Zoo at the Junior Museum--a wonderous land of adventure for kids and animals. Safely interact with new and returning animal residents, including a wide variety of exotic birds that roam freely in the netted over Zoo. Learn about animal behavior, habitat, anatomy and diet, and find out what it takes to be a zookeeper by participating in the zoo’s daily activities. Post-camp is available - see our Post-camp section. Sorry, there is no pre-camp for this session. Activities are the same each week during the summer. Camp projects change from year to year, but we do repeat many favorite projects. Use the grade your child JUST COMPLETED in the spring as his/her grade for camp registration. Each day we will have a different theme to explore through engaging activities. You will be a fisherman and a scientist, traverse Byxbee Park, and paddle the Baylands sloughs in canoes for a closer look at the plants and birds. Be prepared to be out in the sun and to get a bit muddy or wet while you learn about this special habitat. Daily games and arts & crafts activities will complement the days’ themes, so bring your imagination! Post Camp is available (see our Post Camp section). Post Camp Join us after camp for more fun activities! Post campers will create art, swim and play at Rinconada Park. Please make sure that the Post Camp you are signing up for matches the dates of your camp session. Enrollment in this camp is limited to campers enrolled in JMZ science camps for students exiting Grades Kinder through 4th (Bay Camp, Camp Kinetic, Camp Chronos, Jurassic Camp, Camp Oceana, and Zoo Camp). Children not picked up on time will be charged $30/half-hour (or fraction of the half-hour). Registration for Post Camp will be available until 5:00 on the Thursday before camp starts. SCAs help Junior Museum Camp staff prepare and run camp activities. This is a great opportunity to learn more science and investigate future work as a science camp counselor. High school students may also apply the hours they spend in this program toward their community service graduation requirement. DO NOT REGISTER THROUGH ENJOY ONLINE! Acceptance into this job training program is not guaranteed. To apply, complete and submit a SCA application by February 20th, and interviews will be scheduled. You may obtain an application at the Junior Museum & Zoo, by e-mailing: alex.hamilton@cityofpaloalto.org, or by calling 329-2111. Interviews will be scheduled and conducted during the month of March. Schedules will be set on an individual basis, but a 2-WEEK MINIMUM is required (in most cases, 2 consecutive weeks). Fees listed are for a 2-week session, and will be pro-rated for Monday, July 4th.
