As per EU Directives, professionals wishing to provide Investment 

Services and employed by Cypriot Investment Firms, Credit 

Institutions, Management Companies, and Investment Companies of 

Variable Capital, is compulsory to acquire a Professional Competence 

Certificate that reflects the ability to carry out such activities. These 

certifications are offered by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange 

Commission (CySEC) and can be obtained through the exams: a) Basic 

Financial Services Legal Framework Examination and b) Advanced 

Financial Services Legal Framework Examination. This course is 

preparing participants to attend the Advanced Level CySEC exam. Aim 

of the exam is to ensure that candidates can apply an appropriate level 

of knowledge and understanding of the financial services regulatory 

framework that will assist them in the performance of their duties. 

Successful candidates will be certified and eligible to perform all the 

investment services/activities of paragraph 4 of the Directive. The 

CySEC Advanced Examination is addressed to individuals who wish to 

be certified for all the investment services/activities of paragraph 4 of 

the Directive.

Konstantinos Michaelides currently leads the Compliance Function of Flashpoint Venture Capital. In the past, 

Konstantinos worked with Arthur Andersen and BDO in Audit Departments and held a number of Finance and Accounting 

Head in multinational and listed organizations like Coca Cola Hellenic and P&G. He has extensive experience in 

streamlining Finance functions, reorganizations, and debt restructuring. Konstantinos has demonstrated unique

As per EU Directives, any person wishing to provide Investment Services and employed by Cypriot Investment Firms, 

Credit Institutions, Management Companies, and Investment Companies of Variable Capital, is required to undergo 

through Continuous Professional Development courses as to be updated on new Directives and Regulations. AML is 

considered as one of the most important topics and it is one of the riskiest areas in a Financial Institution. 

The aim of this seminar is to educate professionals on how they can apply realistic and efficient risk-based approach,

Elisabeth is a holder of a bachelor’s degree in business administration and joined Reuters/Thomson Reuters Nicosia in 

2007. She launched her first Customer Service Six Sigma project in 2013 through Siebel CRM to reduce responsiveness 

time to customers in Financial Services, FTSE London and MSCI. In 2016, she played a key role in migrating to the new 

generation Salesforce software solution, Service Cloud, and continued her journey with several projects in Data Quality 

Management with BlackRock, MSCI and HSBC. In 2017, Elisabeth refocused and empowered frontline teams in different 

locations to shift from a Service to an Experience mindset and eventually launched the first Experience Pulse project 

within Content Customer Operations team globally, leading and improving Net Promoter Survey (NPS) scores with key 

clients such as STOXX, MSCI, FTSE/LSE, JPMorgan, and others. As an advocate for great Customer Experience in Cyprus, 

Elisabeth continues her journey as a corporate trainer of professional development courses. She recently joined the 

Cyprus Mail and is also contributing to Cyprus 4.0, the fourth Industrial Revolution, a paradigm created by McKinsey

Fraud is a global problem affecting economies, businesses, and individuals. A serious threat to any company 

independent of sector and size – and it is on the rise globally and nationally. It is estimated that a typical 

organization loses 5% of its annual revenue because of fraud. Consequently, all organizations, irrespective of their 

business sector, are nowadays more susceptible to fraudulent acts and there is an increased need for enhancing 

fraud awareness in organizations. The course explores the types of fraudulent financial transactions incurred in 

accounting records and helps gain a deeper understanding of the following concepts: basic accounting and auditing 

theory, fraud schemes, internal controls to deter fraud, and other auditing and accounting matters. This course is

organizations face increased financial challenges due to the negative consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. Fraud 

cases are rapidly increasing, and corporate accounting scandals become public everyday like Toshiba, Tesco, Luckin 

Coffee. 

Building a good reputation is of great value but sustaining it is of greater value; this is specifically true 

of the accountancy and audit profession, which lives off its credibility. Distrust has recently become a major issue 

in the accounting profession especially with the public backlash of the collapse of Enron (U.S) one of the 

world’s leading energy, natural gas, communication giants with a claimed revenue of nearly US$ 101Billion in the 

year 2000, but suddenly collapsed in 2001 which brought distrust, uncertainty to the business world and lack of 

confidence in the financial reports of companies.

time, she graduated with Distinction from London and was awarded a master’s degree in Strategic Marketing. In 2008, she 

founded Penta Marketing Art, which provided marketing and public relations solutions for private and public companies. 

In 2010, she founded the Cyprus Image Institute after obtaining the title of Certified Image Maker (with attendance in 

London) and joined as an associate member of the Association of Image Consultants International. At 27, Andrie was the 

youngest nominated Ambassador for Female Entrepreneurship for Europe, serving since then as a business advisor and 

mentor. In 2013, Andrie was designated as the Goodwill Ambassador of the Hope in Life Foundation and a Cypriot Woman 

of the Year (2013) finalist. She enjoys regular and extensive publicity in local print, online and television programs, and 

have been interviewed for various publications in the US, Denmark, Holland, and Greece. She was a Senior Manager at the

Compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering legislation and regulations have become critical for various sectors of 

the economy such as the financial, the legal etc. Auditors, accountants, lawyers, and administrative service providers 

are required to always comply with the demanding regulations placed by the EU regulations, local legislation, and 

local Regulatory Authorities (e.g., ICPAC, CYSEC, Central Bank of Cyprus etc.). This workshop targets professionals that

compliance with the Anti – Money Laundering (AML) legislation of the portfolio she was managing. She has a thorough

A performance appraisal is a formal meeting between a manager and a member of staff that occurs on a regular 

basis. In some cases, it's simply referred to as an appraisal; in others, it's referred to as an appraisal review or a 

performance review. The aims of the appraisal tend to reflect the priorities of the organisation. It is important, 

though, that the appraisers who are being trained reflect on what they want to get from appraisals and on what they 

think appraisees will want. Both the person being appraised, and the appraiser might be distressed by appraisals. 

However, the good news is that well-conducted assessments can be extremely beneficial to both parties. 

Achieving higher performance does not happen automatically; success depends on the human skills of the person at 

the sharp end – the appraiser. Very often – with the best intentions – managers get appraisals wrong. The goal of 

this session is to immerse and develop hiring managers or HR members to conduct successful, productive, and full

Efthymios Kanaris is a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA), member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in

Fraud cases are unfortunately one of the most important and complex problems

Born in the Washington DC Metropolitan area with roots in Kentucky and El Salvador, Kevin loves to travel, is 

drawn to technology and music in his down time. Kevin twice received a scholarship from Georgetown 

University in conjunction with the United States Department of State to live and work in Lomé Togo, West 

Africa where he built various projects within the University of Lomé with the assistance of the United States 

Embassy in Togo. Kevin has worked for various governmental agencies throughout the Americas including 

Peace Corps and the United States Department of Labor focusing on training and Education, Kevin received a 

Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Trinity University in Washington DC in 2006.

Μία από τις σημαντικότερες εξελίξεις στον τομέα της προστασίας των προσωπικών δεδομένων κατά την τελευταία εικοσαετία είναι η 

ολοένα αυξανόμενη εστίαση στην έννοια του κινδύνου ως μία από τις θεμελιώδεις παραμέτρους για τη δημιουργία νομοθετικών 

ρυθμίσεων και για την επίτευξη της απαιτούμενης συμμόρφωσης. Υπό το πρίσμα αυτό, ο ΓΚΠΔ ακολουθεί μία προσέγγιση βασισμένη στον 

κίνδυνο (risk-based approach), προδιαγράφοντας την απαίτηση για ανάλυση του κινδύνου και σχεδιασμού αντίστοιχων μέτρων που τον 

αντισταθμίζουν αναλόγως. Ωστόσο, προς το παρόν υπάρχουν περιορισμένες και διάσπαρτες μεθοδολογίες που ενσωματώνουν πλήρως 

τον κίνδυνο για την προστασία των προσωπικών δεδομένων, όπως απορρέει από τις διατάξεις του ΓΚΠΔ. Το σεμινάριο αυτό παρουσιάζει 

μία ολιστική και ολοκληρωμένη μεθοδολογία για τη συνολική αντιμετώπιση της διαχείρισης του κινδύνου από τους υπεύθυνους 

επεξεργασίας και τους εκτελούντες την επεξεργασία προσωπικών δεδομένων στο πλαίσιο των απαιτήσεων του ΓΚΠΔ, χρησιμοποιώντας 

πρακτικά παραδείγματα και περιπτωσιολογικές μελέτες (case studies).
