Encounter the 7th continent in comfort! Substituting the 2-day Drake passing with a 2-hour flight, 

we can experience the incredible wildlife, stunning mountain scenery and gigantic icebergs in 

record time and comfort. 

Departing from Punta Arenas in Chile, we fly across the mighty Drake Passage and land at King 

George Island. From here we embark our wonderful ship and navigate around the South Shetland 

Islands and the Antarctic peninsula. Throughout the following days we will be making Zodiac 

landings at penguin rookeries and fascinating lookouts. Continuing southward, deep into the inlets 

of Antarctica, we pass the famous Gerlache Strait, where 3000-ft ice cliffs rise straight out of the still 

water. Experiencing so much of the remote continent in comfort, and in so few days, is only possible 

on a “Fly the Drake” voyage! 

Any voyage to Antarctica is an adventure, but this cruise offers a unique experience for the few. 

Shore landings, excursions, lectures and Zodiac safaris are easily accommodated to help you enjoy

expedition vessel, Ocean Albatros, we are sure to get close to the dramatic coastlines. Zodiac 

cruising and shore landings are an important and considerable part of the planned itinerary, 

hopefully enabling all expedition guests to set foot on the Antarctic continent, as well as the many 

surrounding islands. 

Macaronesia is the name for the Atlantic islands off the North African coast. It is also – according to 

mythology – the winterless resting place for the fortunate heroes of the Greek pantheon. On board 

Albatros’ brand-new expedition vessel Ocean Albatros we now have the fortune to visit five small 

sanctuaries in this long chain of volcanic islands. From two islands in Cape Verde Archipelago via La 

Gomera and Tenerife in the Canaries to Portuguese Madeira. After a unique 11-days’ voyage we 

reach Lisbon in Portugal and bid farewell to the crew and vessel. 

Each of the islands we visit has its origin from a so-called hotspot of molten magma resting deep 

under the ocean floor. At intervals, the lava breaks through to form yet another island, while the 

older volcanoes slowly erode and disappear as submerged seamounts. On all our visits we will see 

evidence of this hot volcanic past from huge craters to steaming fumaroles and tell-tale lava 

formations showing signs from their molten creation. As we travel north across the Tropic of Cancer 

and into the trade winds we go from desert-dry landscapes to cooler and more humid climates 

enabling local farmers to exploit the immense fertile value of volcanic soils. During the cruise we 

will experience the diverse cultures from the easy-going Caribbean ambiance in Cape Verde to 

hardworking mountain farmers on Madeira.

South Georgia Island, remotely located in the far south of the Atlantic Ocean, is the 

dream destination of any wildlife enthusiast. Usually it takes a 3-weeks voyage to visit 

Antarctica, South Georgia, and the Falklands. But on this unique Ocean Albatros 

expedition, your adventure commences with a comfortable 2-hour flight from Punta 

Arenas to King George Island in Antarctica. This way you can visit all three 

destinations in less than 2 weeks! 

After arriving by air to the Chilean Frey Station we will make Zodiac landings on the 

Antarctic continent before following in the wild wakes of Ernest Shackleton from 

Elephant Island and onwards to South Georgia. We will make several Zodiac landings 

at penguin rookeries and elephant seals’ haul-outs below spectacular mountain 

landscapes. 

This lifetime expedition voyage “in a nutshell” comes to an end in Port Stanley of 

Falkland Islands after just 13 action-packed days. 

Ruling the Baltic Sea has been the goal of Nordic kings, German knights, and powerful 

merchants since the Middle Ages. One Danish King fulfilled his dream of power for a few years in 

the 14th century, whereas the Swedish Empire lasted for more than a hundred years until it 

broke up at the peace negotiations in 1721. And throughout these eras the Hanseatic League 

drew strong economic threads between the important trading cities of the Baltic Sea. 

The voyage starts in Turku, oldest town of Finland, called Åbo during the Swedish rule and ends 

after six days of cruising with disembarkation in central Copenhagen, capital of Denmark. 

Our brand-new expedition vessel Ocean Albatros will be our home for this beautiful cruise. Like 

her sister ship Ocean Victory, she is a revolutionary and stylish small ship that combines 

exquisite comfort with modern technology as well as unique stability in rough seas. 

Ocean Albatros can accommodate 188 guests, and the elaborate design, together with a

Join us for a once in a lifetime expedition voyage to the Weddell Sea 

and the seventh continent. Experience the incredible wildlife in icy

Departing Ushuaia in Argentina, we cross the mighty Drake Passage on 

our way to the South Shetland Islands, where we plan to make our 

first Zodiac landing. From here we navigate the South Shetland Islands 

and the Antarctic Peninsula. We plan to make landings at penguin 

rookeries, research stations and fascinating sights that allow us to 

enjoy the spectacular views. Continuing eastward, we will explore the 

Antarctic Sound with its mighty tabular icebergs and enter the Weddell 

Sea in search for wildlife. On our way back, we plan to follow in Ernest 

Shackleton and rest of the Endurance crews wake as we navigate close 

to Elephant Island. On no other journey can you experience so much 

pristine nature and varied wildlife in so few days!

After the fall of Jerusalem in 1187, Christian states and their crusading knights pointed their 

weapons at the pagan tribes along the Baltic Sea. This rarely told story of the Danish medieval 

kings and the expansion of the German order of knights forms the framework for this cruise. 

The Baltic Sea has always played a central role in the history of Northern Europe. It acted as a 

parallel to the Mediterranean for the surrounding states, and for a short number of years 

Denmark – due to her maritime sovereignty – expanded into an empire that stretched around 

the Baltic Sea all the way to Estonia. 

On our route east, we visit some of the medieval trade association's strongest members, 

Gdansk and Klaipéda, then called Danzig and Memel. We reach the island of Øsel, now Saarema, 

Denmark's easternmost possession. Our voyage ends in Finland in the beautiful town of Turku,
