MALMAISON WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT
AREA www.MDWFP.com
This 9,483 acre WMA is as diverse and unique as any other

delta/hills interface in Grenada County. Roughly 800 acres of the WMA lies in the
loess hills and the rest in the Yalobusha/Mississippi River floodplain. McIntyre Scatters
is a shallow swampy lake perfect for paddling and the western edge of the WMA
and contains 500 to 600 acres open to the public.
TALLAHATCHIE NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE
www.FWS.gov/refuge/tallahatchie
Since these lands were acquired by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, 1,300 acres have
been reforested with native hardwood species. The refuge’s largest unity is a patchwork of
old fields and scattered hardwood forests bisected by the meandering Tippo Bayou.
