Board meetings well attended

LOCAL representatives in the
Nor’West News area attended a
high percentage of community
board meetings last year.
City council data has
shown members of the
Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood
Community Board attended
the majority of board
meetings and city council
staff information sessions or
briefings.
Chairwoman Bridget
Williams said she was proud of
the board attendance levels.
“Those are fairly healthy
statistics,” she said.
Board members missed a
maximum of four meetings and
nine briefings
Attendance was sometimes
a balancing act as members
juggled work and family
commitments, and the
Covid-19 pandemic posed an
ongoing challenge, Williams
said.
“There is life outside the
community board and
given the challenging
circumstances I would say
we’ve done well.”
Papanui-Innes Community
Board members also had high
attendance levels last year.
Board members missed a
maximum of just two meetings
and four briefings.

said.

Work started
after epoxy
resin arrived

Caygill said there was delay
getting the epoxy resin shipped
from the United States.
More low noise asphalt will be
installed on the on and off ramps
at QE II Drive and on the motorway
from February 13. This work
is planned to continue all summer.
From April, asphalt would be
installed on QE II Drive between
Main North Rd and the QE II
Drive motorway bridge and Cranford
St between the roundabout
and the QE II Drive motorway
bridge.
Sealing work will take place
overnight from 8pm to 6am,
with detours and road closures
sign-posted. The roads will be
reopened during the day.
“As traffic management and
other road work, like line marking,
will still be happening in this
area during the day please drive
to the posted speeds and take
extra care driving in this area.
All asphalt work is weather and
temperature dependent, dates for
this work may take longer and
conversely, if we have great conditions,
we may be able to speed up
our programme,” NZTA said in a
statement.
“The Christchurch City Council
roads: QE II Drive west and
Cranford St are planned for later
in our sealing programme as we
are awaiting the remaining epoxy.”
