Keep the holidays sweet

The holidays can be filled with

many activities – shopping,

decorating and yes, eating.

It can be tricky and stressful

to stay on a diet with so many

tempting treats, especially if you

have diabetes. But that doesn’t

have to be the case if you make

simple, healthy decisions!

• Make time to exercise

• Check your blood glucose as often as your doctor recommends

• Eat healthy foods and limit ones that are not on your diet plan

• Take your medications as prescribed

The holidays can wreak

havoc on your sleep,

making it hard to control

your blood sugar. When

you are tired you may eat

more high-fat, high-sugar

food. Try to get 7 - 8 hours

of sleep every night.

Don't skip meals to

save up for a party.

Your blood sugar will

be harder to control,

and you'll be more

likely to overeat.
