a newborn photographer for over a decade,
Being
have had a lot of sessions in front of my lens.
I
easy tool and trick I learned through the years
An
CROPPING shots in camera. You can get a
was
multitude
up your angle.
changing
Shot 1: Far away from straight above
Shot 2: Crop close in to baby for full face
Shot 3: Angle camera from side, 45 degree angle
Shot 4: Side view of baby profile
joy
in my career, I would worry over how to pose and handle an awake baby. It was when I
Early
embraced the possibility that some babies will desperately want to be a part of the
finally
things first... learn how to wrap and wrap well. A baby who is tucked in cozy and tight - with
First
full belly - will be a joy to photograph (sleeping or wide awake). In fact, double wrap baby to
a
session (hehe) that I learned how much I truly love this pose.
In addition, I found that most parents also loved the eyes open and wide awake poses as well.
ensure a snug fit with little 'wiggle' availability.

huck finn is not only an easy pose to
The
but it's a super comfortable
accomplish,
of my favorite ways to start off a
One
is with a wrapped baby (on back)
session
then unwrapping into a simple huck
and
transition.
finn
head finds a cozy natural tilt, with
Baby's
crossed on top. Hands can lay to the
legs
under chin, above head - wherever
side,
finds a natural pose.
baby
huck finn is also a great time for crops
The
macros as well. Simply change your
and
or move your lighting, and crop in
angel
camera
one for baby as well.

Parent posing is one close to my heart, and I try to include it with every session - parents willing.
