OUR CONCEPT

What if there was a fundraising program to publish a book, that wouldn’t cost you anything and

didn’t require a whole lot of effort? Does this sound too good to be true? Not with HPN Books

and LedgeMedia!

HPN Books presents a fundraising concept for both promotion of your message in a coffee-table

book format as well as a unique method of income generation that supports your traditional methods

of fundraising instead of competing with them.

The concept can be applied with any of our HPN Books’ Historic/Community Heritage, Cityscape, or

Commemorative book-series templates as well as customizing a book to your own organization or

association needs.

The following organizations have utilized our unique book program:

• Historical Preservation Societies

• City and County Governments

• Chambers of Commerce

• Trade Associations

• Convention & Visitor Bureaus

• Nonprofit Organizations

• Colleges & Universities

• Hospitals

• Museums

• Public Libraries, and more!

HPN Books was created with the mission of helping to preserve in print some of the nation’s invaluable

local historical narratives and utilizing them to raise funds for the organization preserving them.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF PROPOSAL

FOR COFFEE TABLE HISTORY BOOK

ABOUT AND FOR THE

DESCRIPTION AND EXAMPLE OF REVENUE SHARING

In general, revenue sharing from the book’s fundraising campaign can be broken down

something like this:

• Sixty percent (60%) of the sales income total is reserved for associated costs of

creation, publication and printing the book & production of the documentary film,

providing a minimum of 300 free copies of the book to the American Freedom Festival at

Provo (AFF) and up to 5000 additional books to sponsors.

• Twenty percent (20%) of sales income total is reserved for the Associate Publisher and

local Project Manager conducting the fundraising campaign and compiling the book.

• Twenty percent (20%) of income total is the expected profit is split equally with the

book’s commissioning agency which, in this case, will be the AFF and with the publisher,

HPN Books: 10% to each organization.

Please Note: The AFF royalty or commission is from the gross revenue dollars therefore

you have zero risk

The total number of pages in the book and the number of copies printed

will be based upon the number of sponsored pages sold

The expected revenue should fall between the following projections:

LOW PROJECTION : 30 Sponsors = $30,000 to AFF

MINIMUM REVENUE TO AFF

Profile sales goal: 30 participants purchasing 50 pages @ $2,500.00 per page

Anticipated gross dollars from sale of history/profiles:

$ 125,000.00

Multiplied by 10% average royalty to AFF $ 12,500.00

Researcher’s Fee (often your staff chooses to be the author) $ 1,500.00

300 books provided at no charge (x 59.95 suggested retail cover price) $ 17,985.00

TOTAL PROJECTED INCOME TO AFF $ 31,985.00

In this double fundraising model, the initial pre-release fundraising campaign will raise a nice sum for your

organization and the 300 printed books will provide additional income in the coming months and year(s).

MODERATE PROJECTION : 50 Sponsors = $50,000 to AFF

EXPECTED REVENUE TO AFF

Profile sales goal: 30 participants purchasing 50 pages @ $2,500.00 per page

Anticipated gross dollars from sale of history/profiles: $ 187,500.00

Multiplied by 10% average royalty to AFF $ 18,750.00

Researcher’s Fee (often your staff chooses to be the author) $ 3,000.00

500 books provided at no charge (x 59.95 suggested retail cover price)

TOTAL PROJECTED INCOME TO AFF

AMERICAN FREEDOM FESTIVAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and approve an “invitation letter” printed on the AFF letterhead and signed

by an officer of the AFF. This letter will be mailed (at the expense of HPN Books) to

your members as well as other local organizations and business leaders within the

project area, with a focus on this region and any other area you deem most likely to

be supportive.

• Help acquire two or three additional “endorsement” letters for the project from prominent

local individuals and other community organizations (elected officials such as mayors

and county supervisors, board members, etc.)

• Recommend a potential author/researcher(s) who will compile the historic photographic

timeline portion of the book—most often, volunteers or a member of the AFF itself or

another local trusted historian and writer.

• Review and approve all sales materials and all book pages prior to printing.

HPN BOOKS RESPONSIBILITIES

• Produce and publish a high-quality coffee table history book and documentary film for

the American Freedom Festival at Provo

• Hire & work with the organization’s researcher/author to compile the photographic timeline

utilizing a special template and online file sharing system for ease to the author

• Conduct a professional, dignified sales campaign within the community or communities

for sponsored pages.

• Provide a staff writer to write the sponsored pages sold

• Pay a “royalty” to the AFF on sponsored pages sold as shown in projection below.

• Provide to the AFF a minimum of 300 books at no cost as well as the opportunity to

purchase additional books at discounted prices, if so desired. The AFF can then sell these

books at full cover price in the coming years or give away these books to important

donors, staff, volunteers.

• Indemnify the AFF from any liability for the project.

We guarantee that we will publish the books for you!

The only thing in question is the number of pages and printed copies of the book.

The more sponsors, the more potential income for your organization, as well as more

printed copies of the book and a thicker more beautiful book with additional pages.

ABOUT THE PUBLISHER

HPNbooks was conceived around the idea of an ultra-high-quality hardcover chronicle of a city or organization’s

past. These exceptional books were also designed to raise funds for a partnering organization. As of 2020,

HPNbooks has published more than 200 titles, while raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for its many

partnering groups.

technologies such as embedding video into printed materials via QR code. LedgeMedia is a leading-edge

multimedia company, now headquartered in Jackson, Wyoming, with its parent company, FRE-Enterprises. Its

origins can be traced back to 1973, where HPNbooks, based in San Antonio, Texas, was helping businesses

and historical societies tell their stories in the most compelling ways possible.
