INTRODUCTION 

Welcome to our twelfth issue of EPM 

Showcars Magazine! 

My Partner Yvonne and I are so pleased 

at how well our issues have done this year 

and are very excited about this latest issue. 

We would like to thank all of the 

wonderful car owners, models, advertisers, 

sponsors and people that have been so

Truck name: “Mistress” 

This photoshoot was done at an old gas station in the Historical downtown area of 

Independence Missouri. Mathew felt it would bring out the classic characteristics of his 

truck. 

Mathew Shotton is the very proud onwer of this one of a kind 1951 Ford F-Series truck. 

He has a very deep and inspirational love for this truck. He actually aquired this truck 

when he was 14 years old and didn’t even realize it. The story is that when Mathew was 

in his early teen years he had been working all summer long to earn money to give to his 

grandfather. He remembers giving him $800 that summer. Little did he know his grandfather 

had bought this 1951 Ford truck at a local farm auction in 1997 for him. Unfortunely 

Mathew didnt find out that his grandfather had bought him this truck until after 

his grandfather had passed away. So this truck has a very special place in his heart. 

Once Mathew found out about all of this, he slowly started working on the restoration of 

the 1951 Ford truck. The first time he was able to drive it on the road was in 2003. When 

he was driving the truck in 2003 it was only primered and had one seat in the cab area. 

Ever since then he has self fabricated the truck to where it is today. As most restorations, 

this one had taken many years of hard work and a lot of love. 

This is the first-generation of the Ford F-Series, also known as the Ford Bonus-Built 

trucks. This was the generation that was produced at over 16 facilties and is the sole 

generation produced with “Flathead” engines (inline-6 and V8).

showing your truck? 

A: I really enjoy how everyone admires 

the truck and being able to help others 

with ideas for thier cars and trucks. 

Q: What got you into attending car 

shows? 

A: My Grandfather! 

Q: How many car shows do you 

attend a year? 

A: I attend maybe 10 shows and would 

love to attend more. 

Q: Are there any certain car shows 

that you attend every year? 

A: I attend Piston and PinUps, Midwest 

Nation in Springfield and local shows. 

Q: Do you have any other hobbies 

or interests? 

A: I have a fabrication shop, I’m just into 

cars and trucks. 

Q: What are your original specs? 

A: The original engine was a “Flathead” 

V8 with three on the tree. 

Q: What mods have you done? 

A: The engine is now a 302 HO, C6 

transmission, 9” rear end, mustangII 

front suspension, 4 air-bag suspen 

sion, custom front grill, front bumper, 

shaved doors, metal work, custom 

15 in rims, front windshield visor, lou 

vered the hood and custom self made 

air conditioner. 

Q: What mods do you want to do? 

A: I believe the truck is where I want it to 

be! 

Q: Anything else you'd like to add? 

A: I would like to give a BIG SHOUT OUT 

to my wife-Suzie Shotton, my daugh 

ter-Ashlyn and my Grandfather(R.I.P.) 

Q: Do you have any other show cars? 

A: I own a 1986 Ford Bronco, 1947 Wheelies 

Army Jeep and a 1998 Chevy 

Silverado. 

Q: If money wasn't an object which 

car would you buy? 

A: I would buy a 1949 Mercury - chop the 

top and I’d put it on the ground.

Ford Mustang and 

the transmission is 

out of a 1979 Ford 

van, the 9” rear end 

is out of a 1972 Ford 

Ranchero. The suspension 

is MustangII 

front suspension. 

The front grill is 

modified along with 

the handles being 

shaved. 

The dashboard 

has the original 

guages, along with 

the custom autometers. 

As you see 

the custom pinstripping 

really gives the 

interior even more 

of a custom touch. 

The top picture 

is of the air conditionor 

that Mathew 

custom fabricated 

to the specs of the 

truck from back in 

1951. He takes a lot 

of pride in all of his 

fabrications and as 

you can see he is 

very good at it!

is of the 15” rims 

that are on the 

truck with the Ford 

moon caps. 

This is definitely a 

custom truck that 

is one of a kind and 

Mathew is the one 

who has done all of 

the work.

Truck name: “Black Betty” 

This photoshoot was done in the West Bottoms of Kansas City near the underpass of 

I35. The location is near the Train Park at Madison Ave and W 8th Street. 

Shasta McKee is now the proud owner of this Bad Ass 1967 Chevy C10 truck. Unfortunately 

she aquired the truck after her father Ricky Lee Foster passed away in 2020. This 

truck was her fathers pride and joy and she is honored to carry on his legacy with now 

being the owner of it. Rick Foster bought the truck in 1984 when he had came across it 

for sale in the newspaper. The truck was located in Colorado. Rick purchased the truck 

and immediately was driving it around, he had done this for a few years before he decided 

to do a complete restoration. The restoration began in 1990 by disassembleing the 

C10 all the way to the frame. The frame restoration took a few years due to the fact the 

Rick was a Millwright at Local 1529 Carpenters Union. He was a Millwright for 31 years. 

The guys (Charles, Jack, Mike and Doug) would get together on the weekends to work 

on the truck. Rick retired in 2007 and that is when he was able to focus more on the 

restoration of the C10, he and the family started putting it back together. The fabrication 

and engine completion took about 10 months, then the body work and paint took about 

6 months. The work was done in Charles Kings garage. Rick started showing the truck 

in 2008, he was always adding finishing touches to the C10 even up the year he passed 

away. When he wasn’t working on his truck, he was spending time with his family and 

chilling out with his buddy Mitchell Shepard at the shop. 

Rick loved his Family and Friends dearly! He will truely be missed and be forever in 

their hearts, thoughts and prayers always!

Dad’s bad ass hotrod truck.

A: The engine use to be a 327 with a 

3-speed transmission. 


A: The engine is now a 468 Big Block, 

3-speed th400 turbo transmission, 9” 

rear end, lowered 2”’s, custom interior, 

wooden bed and frame off resto 

ration. 


A: We are planning on swapping out the 

ratchet shifter and maybe put black 

rims on it.

The interior on 

the truck was

Rick wanted to 

keep the truck as 

close to original as 

he could be then 

put his own touches 

on the truck 

too! As you can 

see in the upper 

picture he added 

a few things to 

make it his own.

the truck, they are 

15” rims. Shasta 

plans on putting 

some nice black 

rims on the truck 

to bring out the 

look and attitude

C10's engine is a 

468 Big Block with

and has been lowered 

2"'s. The work 

on the engine was 

done by Rick and

We decided to do this photoshoot in the Crossroads of Kansas City. This is a very 

colorful wall with all of the different kinds of expressive objects and designs. So to bring 

out the lines of this muscle car. 

Daniel Schultz is the proud owner of this Bad Ass 1970 Dodge Charger. He has always 

had a love of muscle cars since he was a kid, because his dad had owned two Dodge 

chargers in the 70’s and 80’s when he was growing up. At that young age he liked the 

Viper instead of the Charger. But then decided to get himself the Charger instead, because 

he appreciated how the body lines stood out to him more then the lines on the 

Viper. There was also the simple fact of seeing the old pictures of his dads Chargers. 

Daniel found the car online for sale in 2008 and bought the car from Classic Investments 

that is located in Amarillo, Texas. He wasn’t able to go and get the Charger so he 

had it shipped to Kansas City. 

When Daniel recieved the car it had an older motor in it and the engine bay was a total 

mess. He knew for sure all of the things he wanted to get done or have done to make 

the car his own. He had an engine built and installed first. That work was done at PMI 

Performance in Jeff City which took about 6 to 8 months. Then moving on to the suspension, 

rear end, brakes, exhaust and then the original interior redone by NKC Auto Trim. 

Daniel installed the carpet, the guages and dash himself. He has made sure that every 

year since he has owned the car, to make sure to do something to further complete the 

restoration of the Charger. There are still things he is wanting to do to complete the vision 

he has for the car.

and wheels.

Car: 1966 Chevelle 300 

This photoshoot was taken in the Nothern section of the Crossroads of Kansas City. 

When we came across this colorful backdrop we knew this would bring out the beauty of 

this car. 

Chet Matthys is the proud owner of this 1966 Chevelle 300. He has always loved this 

make and model of the Chevelle. Back in 1966 he had gone to Parish Chevrolet dealership 

to find out the information on the purchase of a Chevelle. They told him there would 

need to be a $300 deposit on the car for purchase. As Chet was working on saving up 

the money to purchase the Chevelle, he recieved a letter from Uncle Sam (drafted) into 

the Military. At that time the Chevelle’s purchase price was $2,200. Chet’s love for this 

specific model of the Chevelle never went away. 

One day he was browsing online and came across this specific car, he contacted the 

seller and decided to make the arrangments to go look at the car to buy it. So this was in 

2014 when he and his friend Steve Nelson drove with trailer in tow to Little Rock, Arkansas 

to pick up the car. Steve went with him to check out the frame and to see what was 

going to need to be done. They trailered the Chevelle back to Kansas City and immediately 

started removing everything completely down to a bare frame. Chet was working 

on the suspension as Steve was working on the cars body, since he has over 20 years 

experience in body work. At anytime that Steve would need any help Chet would gladly 

step in and help him out. The two of them also did the fabrication of the car, including 

the floors of the car. The restoration of this Chevelle took about a year to complete.

usually go to about 40 or more

burg, Mo and a lot of local shows.

A: I have a huge passion for cars. 


A: The engine available in 1966 was either 

a 327ci V8 or a 283ci V8 with a 3 speed 

automatic transmission. The car in 

cluded many extra options for the ap 

pearance of the Chevelle. 


A: The engine now is a crated 350 Chevy 

small block, 700R4 overdrive trans 

mission, 4 barrel carb, front disc 

brakes, replaced original suspension, 

new exhaust with headers, custom 

interior to the original specs. 


A: The Chevelle is good as it is. 


A: I’d like to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to 

Steve Nelson, my brother Jim and 

nephew Scott for helping me with the 

Chevelle’s restoration. 


A: I own 2 other Chevelle’s, 55 Chevy 

and a 62 Impala. 



A: I would buy another 66 Chevelle. 



This 1966 Chevelle 

has been completely 

restored to it’s original 

version. Chet 

wanted to keep it the 

way it should look to 

the fatory specs. 

This was a frame 

restoration, every 

thing has been restored. 

The rims are 

the factory rims with 

the Chevy dog dish 

center caps. 

The interior has 

been done to the 

original factory specifications 

as well. 

The engine is a 

crate 350 with a 

700 R4 transmission, 

4 barrel carb, 

front disc brakes, 

original suspension, 

the exhaust is original 

with headers. 

The dashboard 

has a few extra 

guages added. 

There is the tac, oil 

and water. 

This year of the 

Chevelle is called a 

2- door post. 





“TAZ” 

Truck owner: Larry Nida 

Truck: 1959 Ford F100 

Model: Michelle Brown 

Truck name: “TAZ” 

This photshoot was done in the West Bottoms of Kansas City underneath the 670 

bridge which is right by The Beast Haunted House. 

Larry Nida is the proud owner of this one of a kind 1959 Ford F100. He purchased this 

truck back in 2000 from a guy in Kansas who was always working on Ford Mustangs. 

Larry had to buy himself an older truck to make it his own after helping his brother Gary. 

He and his brother had gone and retrieved a 1960 Ford F100 truck from an over grown 

field. The two of them worked on that truck for a few years to restore it and Larry fell in 

love with the older truck, so thats when he knew that he wanted one. Larry started the 

restoration of his truck by working on the body and rebuilding the engine first. This was 

with the help of his brother Gary. The two of them achieved alot of the projects for the 

truck incuding it running by 2004. The restoration of the truck was put off in 2004 for 

a little over a year because of the fact Larry was deployed to Iraq for that time period. 

He has served 27 years in the United States Army. When Larry arrived back in Kansas 

City he was able take the truck to the body shop for the paint job to be done. He chose 

the color of laser red metalic for the truck to be painted. Larry was able to start showing 

the truck in 2006 going to multiple car and truck shows. He ended up winning several 

awards, including Best in Paint and Best In Interior. 

This Ford F100 is the third-generation of the Ford F-series they were produced between 

1957 and 1960 and are 1/2 ton trucks. They came with multiple engine options for 

those years.

A: The engine now is a 351 Windsor, 

4-speed automatic transmission, 

single carb, crown vic suspension, 

2 1/2 dual exhaust, 17” tires, grill, 

vintage air and redipped the 

chrome pieces. 


A: I think the truck is where I want it to 

be!
