Foreword Chairman of Wervingsdagen
KING-SIZE YOUR SKILLS!
What does your future look like? It is a question you probably
get asked more and more. Finding the right answer is not as
easy anymore as ‘I want to become an astronaut’. No, it takes a
lot of time and effort, but I promise you, it will be worth it! Your
next step towards answering this question starts right here.
Foreword Rector Magnificus
KING-SIZE YOUR NETWORK
Dear students,
The Interviewing Days are a unique opportunity to
combine the skills you learned during the Skill Sessions
with the contacts you made during the Career Expo.
teams that were all eager to get in touch with you. Have you
already taken charge of your future and explored lots of
different possibilities at our biggest event? In December, we
also organized the Skill Sessions, a week filled with more than 50 interesting workshops. I hope
you subscribed and king-sized your skills, just like over 2000 other students! Do not worry if
you missed this past edition; the next Skill Sessions take place from the 12th until the 17th of
December! Before that there will even be one more event.
The third and last Wervingsdagen event of this academic year is already on the horizon. From
the 9th until the 12th of May, you get the ultimate chance to king-size your network! We are
excited that for the first time in over two years, the Interviewing Days will be offline again. This
year’s edition will take place in the illustrious Van der Valk Hotel Eindhoven. Take part in oneon-one
interviews or play a game of golf with over 40 different companies. Learn what it is like
working at a particular company, by working on a company case. Or improve your manners
during the etiquette dinner and wine etiquette workshops. You can immediately practise your
freshly gained knowledge by attending one of the company lunches or dinners.
You will probably have interviews with various leading
national and international companies. During one of
the previous events, you must have noticed that these
companies would like to know everything about you. Rightly so! Your skills and qualities
are in high demand.
At the same time the interviews are also an opportunity to learn more about the companies.
After all, you must make a well-founded choice. Be critical during the conversations you will
have, ask questions about matters that are important to you.
Maybe about the challenges you will find in the work itself, or about the company culture.
But you can also think broader. Perhaps you would like to know more about the direction of
the company when it comes to, for example, climate measures or more about their inclusion
and diversity policy? Or you think it’s important to have a few weeks off to travel the world?
Be clear about what you want and expect from your future employer. I am sure that there is a
great match for every TU/e student!
After all this information, you might feel a little overwhelmed by all the opportunities you
have available at the Interviewing Days. This guide provides you with a solid foundation for
your visit to this unique and deepening event. Take your time absorbing and exploring all
available options, and subscribe at wervingsdagen.nl once you have found a company that
suits your interests.
Visit the Interviewing Days and find out which company excites and challenges you. Prove
that you are a real career king and who knows, maybe you will find your new employer.
I would like to express my gratitude to the organizing Committee of de Wervingsdagen.
You did a great job! Each year thousands of students from Eindhoven and the rest of the
Netherlands visit one or more events. To organize the biggest technical career event in The
Netherlands, takes a lot of guts. Thank you for your time, energy, sweat and tears.
I wish you all a successful career!
Are you ready to find out the answer to my question?

ACTIVITIES
POWERED BY
The Interviewing Days are the perfect opportunity to meet potential
employees, discuss your career opportunities, and learn more about
companies interested in you. From May 9th until May 12th, you will have
the chance to personally get in touch with one or more companies of your
choice. The topic of discussion is entirely up to you, as long as it is careerrelated.
To create a suitable atmosphere, Wervingsdagen will host the event
at van der Valk hotel in Eindhoven.
Interviews
An Interview is a personal conversation between you and one or two company recruiters. An
interview will take around 45 minutes, as chosen by the company. The Interview could serve
as a way to get to know the company, but it can also be an application as part of a selection
procedure. It is up to you and the company to decide what kind of Interview you want.
Golf with Interview
Next to the regular Interview, we also offer you an Interview combined with an activity; golf! With
a company, you will go to the driving range and decide together how to divide the 45 minutes.
Company Cases
The Company Cases are a way of getting to know the company, through actually solving a
problem the company presents to you! You will work in small groups of students and work
together to find an optimal solution to the problem. Each case will take 3 hours and will
take place only once. By participating in a Case, you will get a very hands-on look into what
working at the company is like and what knowledge from your studies you can apply. You
can find all available Cases in a later section of this guide.
Wervinsdagen is a joined initiative of 10 study associations of the Eindhoven
University of Technology. A short description is added below to give you an
impression of what these studies have to offer.
Applied Mathematics AM
Mathematics is all about learning to see things in an analytical way, to think
critically and to solve problems by being solution-oriented. Any problem
can be made abstract, which makes nearly all challenges in real life
solvable in the abstract world of mathematics.
Applied Mathematics is made up of three main fields of study: first
analytical mathematics provides the basics into the mathematical
structures of functions and spaces and why they apply. Giving every
student a reasonable understanding of why we can simply add and
subtract numbers and how to create new theorems from there. The
second field is stochastics, where probability and stochastics will be
learned and applied while analysing big data. The third main field focuses
on security and optimization, such as cryptography applications and
company process optimization.
During the study, students are trained to work together and think
creatively in numerous modelling projects in all fields. That is why
mathematicians can think analytically and `outside the box’. By doing so,
mathematicians can come to the optimal solution to a wide variety of
problems, and can be all-round employable for many companies.
13
Lunch or Dinner
Subscribing for a Lunch or Dinner will get you the opportunity to get to know a company
and its culture in a more informal way. Together with 5-7 other students, you will have lunch
or dinner with two recruiters of the company of your choice. During these sessions, you can
discuss any topic with the company recruiters.
All activities above will take place according to the RIVM-guidelines. Check our website
and social media for the most recent updates about this.
Applied Physics AP
Applied Physicists learn to see the world around us in a very analytical
manner. By thoroughly analysing problems and thinking critically,
suitable solutions are found to many problems. As an Applied
Physicist, physical phenomena turn into fascinating questions and
topics of discussion. Applied Physicists go one step further than just
asking questions, by namely applying the obtained skills on physical
phenomena for the sake of technological developments. In a lot of cases,
this gives rise to ambitious projects. During projects some assumptions
may need to be made, which are learned to recognize and validate. The
master’s program in Applied Physics allows the student to get involved
in physical phenomena, new technologies and measurement methods.
Which are all based on the technical application of physical principles
in varying disciplines. Applied physicists use their practical experience,
problem-solving and analysis skills to solve complex problems and can
make an argument why that particular solution is the most suitable one
to the problem.
14
Automotive Technology AU
The program Automotive Technology is a unique study of automotive
engineering on a university level. During this study students get to
face the technological challenges in a societal perspective. Modern
cars are intelligent systems which require a lot of knowledge of
various disciplines. These disciplines (Electrical Engineering, software
engineering and mechanical engineering) will be learned by a student of
Automotive Technology. The student uses this knowledge in projects like
smart mobility and clean vehicles.
Biomedical Engineering & Medical Sciences and
Technology BE
Biomedical Engineering focuses on problems in modern healthcare. It
originates from a study track of mechanical engineering, which focused on
the human body. It has developed into a broad field of study, combining
engineering and knowledge of the human body to seek for innovative
solutions in healthcare. Diagnostics, disease treatment and prevention ask
for a constant renewal of technology in healthcare. Biomedical Engineering
is the answer to this, because students are educated to use interdisciplinary
knowledge applied to human healthcare problems. Biomedical problems
are often complicated and require knowledge of fields like mechanical
engineering, chemical engineering, applied physics, mathematics, computer
science and electrical engineering. All these fields come into play in the
three research groups; Biomechanics & Tissue Engineering, Molecular
Bioengineering & Molecular Imaging and Biomedical Imaging & Modelling.
The Biomedical engineer uses available data from all different sources and
translates it into solutions which can be used by a doctor. The broad field
of knowledge of a biomedical engineer makes him useful both in and out
of the medical world, where he can function as a bridge between different
disciplines or as a specialist in his field.
Chemical Engineering and Chemistry CE
As a Chemical Engineer, you are able to provide technical solutions to
problems and issues related to the process and product technology. In
addition, the great analytical skills provide career opportunities within a wide
range of sectors such as consultancy. Within the Chemical Engineering
department, different divisions can be distinguished. Some students work on
the design, maintenance, improving and troubleshooting of large industrial
processes. Other students work on the innovation in the field of materials
science, polymers in order to design smart materials. Finally, there is a group
of students working on synthesis and design of new compounds, such as
catalysts and organic solar cells. The Chemical Engineering study provides
specialists with a broad base, which can be used in a variety of industries.
Computer Science CS
The study of Computer Science & Engineering provides all principles
and methods to develop software systems and web services. It uses a
discrete, logical form of mathematics seen in all kinds of areas within
Computer Science. Because of this strong mathematical base, any
Computer Science student has a very broad curriculum, which is applied
in the following fields within the study:
• Theory and algorithmics, where students learn how to solve different
mathematical problems the best way possible.
• Software development, where students learn to create and document
software programs from scratch.
• System architecture, networks and information systems, where
students look at the safety of networks and the optimization of systems
and processes, as well as the saving of data.
• Web technology, where the psychological side of technology is viewed,
such as the attractiveness and the user friendliness of products.
• Data science, in which different techniques are used in the field of data
analysis, data mining and machine learning.
Besides that, students learn professional skills and how to work in a team.
These things are learned/practiced during the many design-based group
projects in the study. All of this enables a student to bridge the gap between
the user and the endless number of applications of a computer. The critical
way of thinking bridges this gap, specialized in the form of logical reasoning,
and the structured approach to the most complex of problems.
Data Science DS
Data Science is a new engineering discipline and the main innovation
driver in the years to come, much like Computer Science, which
emerged as a new field of research when computers became widely
available. Data Science has emerged in answer to the vast volume of
complex and unstructured data that has become available. Modern
technology enables data collection any place, any time, about anything.
The goal of Data Science is not to collect more data, but to derive
actionable insights from large amounts of data, by using state of the
art techniques from research in the fields of data cleaning, process
mining, business analytics, data mining and machine learning. As Data
Science is multidisciplinary and has great societal impact, a good
Data Scientist needs to be aware of relevant societal issues, such
as legal, social, ethical, business, and entrepreneurial problems. The
Joint Bachelor Data Science and the Joint Master Data Science and
Entrepreneurship are programmes offered by Tilburg University and
Eindhoven University of Technology with their joint collaboration in the
Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS).
15
16
Electrical Engineering EE
An Electrical Engineer from the TU/e has enjoyed wide bachelor ranging
from electromechanics and -magnetics to signal processing, integrated
circuits and programming courses. This gives an Electrical Engineer the
knowledge about mathematics, physics and computer systems needed
to solve complicated problems. Electrical Engineering focuses on three
societal themes:
‘The Connected World’, ‘Care and Cure’ and ‘Smart and Sustainable
Society’. Every Master program of Electrical Engineering connects to one
of these three themes, which means that a graduate student possesses a
lot of knowledge of at least one of these societal themes.
Operations extend from the performance management of a group of
design engineers to the precise prediction of production and delivery
performance. The Innovation Management discipline studies the
management of innovation processes. It contains quantitative and
qualitative theories, tools and techniques to make businesses and
entrepreneurs more innovative, as well as more successful in their
innovation activities. Key aspects of the Innovation Management
discipline are new product development, strategic marketing, sales and
after-sales service management, business intelligence, open innovation,
and entrepreneurship.
17
Industrial Design ID
The goal of the study Industrial Design is to create interactive products,
systems and services in a societal context. The study is an umbrella for
different disciplines, which means the students have a coherent overview
of different areas of expertise. These areas include: programming,
electronics, user interaction, materiality, branding, business strategies
and scientific research. This overview makes it easy for an Industrial
Design student to link the disciplines within a design process. A designer
constantly has to adapt to changes in technology and society. At the
faculty of Industrial Design, students learn to take control over their
own knowledge, skills and development. When the students run into
something unfamiliar to them or something they have never done
before, they can adapt their education and teach themselves new skills.
Additionally, the students from our fac-ulty are very open-minded and
creative and always up for something different or new. Industrial Design
students are translators; they translate problems into solutions and
wishes into product specifications. In this way, Industrial Design students
form a bridge between technology and people. They reason from users
to make technology intuitive for them. Industrial Design students have
knowledge of many different disciplines and therefore are very versatile
in their work. Every student has his own unique expertise, but also has
knowledge of the other competences.
Industrial Engineering IE
At the major Industrial Engineering, the students get subjects on the
field of Mathematics, Engineering and Integration (a combination of
technical and business subjects). The master’s degree programs of
Industrial Engineering are Operations Management and Logistics
(OML) and Innovation Management (IM). Operations Management
and Logistics is a multidisciplinary field that addresses the efficiency
and effectiveness of the operations of an organisation. OML comprises
disciplines such as product development, quality management, (supply
chain) logistics, information systems, and human resource management.
Mechanical Engineering ME
Mechanical engineering combines subjects from mathematics, physics
and chemistry. Aspects taught during the program include heat and
flow, mechanics and dynamics, the control of machines and systems,
and properties of materials. But as an aspiring mechanical engineer, you
need to have more than technical knowledge alone. Later a mechanical
engineer will often be at the centre of a project team of specialists
from different disciplines. That’s why a lot of attention is given to the
social and communication aspects of the students’ development. As
well as creativity and innovative abilities, mechanical engineers are also
expected to be able to work well in teams.
Psychology & Technology PT
Students in the bachelor Psychology & Technology learn how
technology influences people and how to use their knowledge of
psychology to make technology function optimally for its users.
Graduates know how people think, act, feel, observe and take decisions,
and have the knowledge to understand how technologies work. The
students try to adapt the technology to the individual with the aim of
getting the best user experience and societal value out of a technology.
Examples are smart interfaces, social robots, persuasive technologies,
ambient intelligence, brain-computer interfaces, or big data.
Sustainable Innovation SI
Students in the Sustainable Innovation major have the ambition to create
a more sustainable future. They have in-depth knowledge of sustainable
technologies but also study the economic and societal factors that are
crucial to make these innovations a success. They are able to analyse
what is needed for consumers and firms to adopt these technologies
and how policymakers can speed up the transition to a sustainable
society. Examples of relevant subjects for the major Sustainable
Innovation are the energy transition, blockchain, smart grids, circularity,
smart mobility and sustainable food production.

HyTEPS: the specialist in Power Quality
We have the knowledge, experience and technologically innovative products
required to make a difference and provide the best possible solution.
HyTEPS consists of a team of highly qualified, enthusiastic employees. We
help organizations optimize the energy efficiency, reliability and safety of
their electrical installations. This allows the resolving and prevention of a wide
variety of problems, risks and malfunctions. What’s more, cost savings can be
realized and improved energy efficiency is an important contributing factor
to Corporate Social Responsibility.
A selection of our services:
Power Quality measurements, arc flash calculations, THD simulations and
continuous monitoring.
Some of our products:
Harmonic filters, converters, Power Quality analyzers, EMC filters and
(medium voltage) capacitors.
Everything we do is dedicated to achieving the best possible results for
our clients. We also aim to create awareness about unknown risks or
undiscovered solutions. In addition, we believe in sharing knowledge, and
regularly give lectures and trainings in our field of expertise: Power Quality.
“Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work”
At Itility, we are digital engineers, working for large enterprise
customers in high-tech and manufacturing – such as ASML,
NXP, Vanderlande, Ampleon, Marel, Schunk. But also,
for smaller companies in agriculture – such as Van Gog
Kwekerijen and Incotech.
We love to twin up with our customers. Shape digital solutions together
to bring innovation. Then, we deliver. We make sure those solutions get
implemented in projects – flawlessly and as promised. And we engineer the
solutions to be production-ready, so our DevOps teams can then run them
on a daily basis.
Passion is part of our core value DNA, which spells ‘PILSI’ (in Dutch: Passie,
Inhoud, Leveren, Samen, Innovatie). Everything starts with passion (‘Passie’)
for what you do. Driven by the hunger for knowledge and content (‘Inhoud’).
Content is trained on the job and in our Itility Academy and Season Schools,
and is explored in our R&D deep-dives. All with the goal to deliver (‘Leveren’)
to the customer, beyond expectations. Always together, always as a team
(‘Samen’). At work, but also outside working hours, whether during a night
out, at a LAN party, or a hackathon. And always innovating, becoming better
every day, always going one step beyond (‘Innovatie’).
Young Professional Program
We offer an exclusive program for starters, the Young Professional Program,
specifically developed to boost your career and help you become an IT
professional or a professional in cloud, data science, software, or stack.
The YPP is a tailor-made 3-month bootcamp, in which we train, coach, and
develop our starters. During this time, starters come into contact with various
tools, such as Python, Splunk and Databricks, and by completing on-the-job
assignments they learn the necessary skills to start working for the customer
at the end of the process.

ENGINEERS WITH PASSION FOR TECHNOLOGY
Iv-Groep is a globally operating multidisciplinary engineering company.
Since 1949, Iv has been devising technical solutions for projects of any size
and complexity within the following sectors: Industry, Infrastructure &
Traffic, Buildings & Installations,
Handling, Maritime, Offshore & Energy and Water.
Our employees are technicians of the highest level who with great pleasure,
puzzle their way through almost impossible challenges. They are deeply
involved in the (social) issues presented by our clients and work with great
passion to achieve innovative solutions for them. In eleven offices worldwide
and with more than 700 employees and nine divisions whereby each is a
specialist in their own specific sector, Iv is now one of the top 10 Dutch
engineering companies.
Every day a new #challenge
If we are talking about the DNA of Iv, then technology is by far the core
element. This is what we really have a passion for and in which we are
constantly at the forefront. We have unique and multidisciplinary knowledge
of the sectors in which we operate and it’s this knowledge that makes Iv a
much sought-after partner for special and complex projects.
We love nothing more than a technical challenge. Impossible missions are
non-existent. Working at Iv means working in an organization where every
day is different. With specialists sharing the same passion for technology,
you can devise solutions for the greatest technical challenges and most
diverse projects.
At the office or on location. What makes working at Iv so nice? Plenty of
room for entrepreneurship and personal development. This helps you to set
your own goals and immediately take responsibility for your project!
Interested in an internship, graduation project or entry-level position? Check
our website: www.jobsativ.com.
We are a secondment agency and we bring engineers into
contact with technical companies. Our objective is the right
engineer in the right role. Because when an engineer thrives in
the new job, both employee and employer reap the benefits.
Our most important tool at work is the personal conversation. In order to
make a good match, we have to get to know both the engineer and the
company well. An engineer is much more than just a resume and a list of
competencies. And a company is much more than a job description and a
corporate identity.
That is why we have an extensive discussion with the engineers and we talk
about what they really like, what they are passionate about working on and
where they want to grow in the long term.
Conversely, we get to know our clients in this way: from the career
opportunities that are available to the coffee machine that is available. Our
mission is successful if we can translate the engineer’s story into a suitable
role for our clients.
We attach great importance to openness. If we all know what we expect from
each other, we avoid disappointment. We make clear agreements and fulfill
them. So if we promise to call you back within 1 business day, we will. We are
open about the possibilities an engineer has with his skillset. And we are also
honest with clients who ask for the sheep with five legs: a good business
partner also dares to say ‘no’.
Finally, we are very excited to get started for you. Because putting an
engineer in the right role and seeing both engineer and company grow is the
best thing there is.

Creating meaningful technologies that make the world work
Our technology, for instance, improves the quality of medical
imaging, which allows for diagnostics that recognize diseases
earlier and more accurately.
Our techniques also contribute to reducing the global dependency on fossil
fuels, and to minimizing human exposure to air pollution. Another example
is the contribution of our technologies to global digitalization, which lowers
barriers for people in third world countries wishing to access the information
and education that are essential for their welfare. Therefore, our joint mission
is to create meaningful technologies that make the world work. Quite literally
everything centers on the customer, our passion for technology, and on
constantly improving our business processes. This ‘DNA’ has been crucial
to our company since we began operating in 1993 and it’s the foundation of
our success as well as that of our clients. Working for – and usually in close
partnership with – you, we develop and produce electronic and mechatronic
products and systems with an exceptional price-performance ratio.
A passion for technology
We can do this because we have smart ways of optimising, integrating and
robotising, and because we produce everything we need in-house. These are
just some of the reasons why we’ve been able to build a competitive edge
over all other providers of technical solutions, anywhere in the world. When
we began in 1993, we were helping clients to develop the electronics for their
products and systems.

Rijkswaterstaat is part of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure

infrastructure facilities in the Netherlands. This includes:
The main road network
The Dutch mobility policy serves 2 goals: reliable journey times and better
accessibility. The Dutch economy relies heaviliy on transport and logistics,
the main economic centers must remain accessible.
The main waterway network
Dry feet, sufficient clean water and reliable and useful information. That is
what integrated water management means to Rijkswaterstaat. The Dutch
waterway network is the densest in Europe. About 6000 kilometers of rivers
and canals, many of the latter serving drainage as well as navigation, form a
complex system serving all parts of the country.
The main water systems
The goal is to achieve the most efficient and flexible construction,
management and maintenance of the main water systems in the
Netherlands: the major rivers, the coast, the Wadden Sea, the Southwest
Delta, the IJsselmeer region and the North Sea. The Dutch coast protects
us from the sea. That is why it is so important to maintain it properly.
Rijkswaterstaat is responsible for this.

The term Employeneurship might sound unfamiliar. It’s because we invented

TOPdesk was founded in Delft, the Netherlands, over 25 years
ago by 2 students who wanted to make a difference. Their
goal was to help others improve their customer services with
software that is simple and easy to use.
Since then, the organization has grown: from 2 employees to 900, and from
a single small office to 15 branches worldwide. We might be large, but we’ve
never stopped believing in our core values: listening to the customers’ needs,
and giving employees the trust, freedom and responsibility to do great things.
We have created a product which is simple to use and implement, boosts
customer independence, and is a guide to our clients. But not only is our
software a guide, all of our colleagues are a guide to our clients too. From the
beginning to the end, we try to be the guide to service excellence.
Although TOPdesk is a company working in IT, we are not only looking
for developers. We also have our own departments in marketing &
communications, sales, support, legal services and consultancy. This is why
we are looking for people with all kinds of backgrounds. During our selection
progress we are not only looking at what your study is, but also who you are
as a person. We believe that knowledge and skills can be taught to you by us
and that personality and motivation are the leading factor within this.
Are you self-motivated with the confidence to develop and implement your
own ideas? Do you enjoy being responsible for creating your own working

company. Interested in finding out more? Check us out on our website or

BlinkLane Consulting B.V.
OVERCOME CHALLENGES,
CREATE OPPORTUNITIES
How do market leaders deal with rising customer demands and lower
market entry barriers of competitors while simultaneously keeping up with
technological advancements?
To compete with flexible start-ups that quickly bring innovations to the market and disrupt
industries, large organizations need to redefine themselves and their offerings to ensure that
they can sustain success. At BlinkLane, we serve various (international) clients to overcome
such challenges and create opportunities to stay ahead of the competition. In other words, we
support them in transforming the organization by building the right capabilities to thrive in this
age of digitalization and globalization.
In a 2-hour session, you will take on the role of Transformation Consultant and dive into the
case study of a highly regarded client in the energy sector. Together with other participants,
you will analyze their situation and develop some first recommendations for our client.
The case will be performed in four succeeding stages, complemented with a closing round:
1. Perform desk research and critically assess information on the client and their situation.
2. Perform interviews with stakeholders to gain more insight into the client’s challenges.
3. Define a problem statement based on the information from desk research and interviews.
4. Define some first creative solutions and next steps to help the client overcome their challenges.
5. Present the findings and suggested improvements (and back them up with data and facts!)
During the case, you will be guided by BlinkLane consultants and have the opportunity to
meet some of our people. In addition, this setting allows you to showcase your analytical
and creative skills to convince us that you are the next generation of Transformation
Consultants we are looking for!
We look forward to meeting you and show some of our work as BlinkLane consultants :)

EQUANS
Check wervingsdagen.nl or our social media pages to see how you can

Kortom: Heb jij ambitie voor transitie? Dan zien we je graag tijdens de

Company Case
Iv-Groep
DE GROENE BITTERBAL...
Energiereducttie is een van de meest actuele topics binnen ons vakgebied;
het proces, van grondstof tot product, sterk verouderd te zijn en niet meer van deze tijd;
In kleine groepjes
