Dining In Dublin…
where to go?
Elle’s Bistro
There has never been a better time to tickle your taste buds in Dublins’ Fair City…Irish cooking has
come a long way in recent years and an emergence of artisan products, new chefs and an enormous
variety of restaurants guarantees a great dining experience - whatever your fancy and budget!
We’ve come a long way from Irish stew and
cabbage & potatoes but that’s not to say that
traditional Irish cuisine isn’t in demand.
If you want to be sure of the most authentic
(and delicious!) Irish dishes head straight to
Gallagher’s Boxty House in the heart of
Temple Bar for the best in Irish stews, coddle
and yes, boxty (a traditional Irish potato
pancake). Pádraic Óg Gallagher knows his
stuff and there’s recipes aplenty on their
website - www.boxtyhouse.ie
A warm Irish welcome is always
guaranteed in The Shack Restaurant, also in
Temple Bar. Be immersed in this traditional
restaurant and enjoy hearty, wholesome Irish
cuisine. For a more modern yet very Irish
menu look no further than The Pig’s Ear on
Nassau Street - a warm, friendly restaurant
overlooking the wonderful playing pitches
of Trinity College.
Le Bon Crubeen is a contemporary Irish
restaurant with a French twist located just off
O’Connell Street. It also offers private dining,
a buzzing bar and it’s proximity to both
The Abbey and Gate Theatres makes it an
ideal spot for Pre-Theatre.
Elaine Murphy is a stalwart in the Irish
restaurant scene having opened her fifth
premises The Legal Eagle where gastro pub
meets Irish artisan ingredients - think Irish
potato flatbreads, hay smoked ham, corned
mutton - all washed down with a dizzying
array of craft beer!
Her restaurant The Woollen Mills serves
food all day and boasts the best view of our
iconic Ha’penny Bridge (so called as that
was the toll for anyone crossing it for 100
years). The Winding Stair also serves
seasonal Irish food in what was once a
famous landmark bookshop. A little more
laid back, The Yarn on Liffey Street Lower
(yep, overlooking the Liffey!) boasts “pizza &
booze” and offers 2 pizzas for the price of 1
on Tuesdays - a great party spot! Last but not
least, The Washerwoman located beside our
wonderful Botanic Gardens is a northside
institution, famed for it’s brunch, Sunday
roasts and in house baking.
Let’s face it, Dublin isn’t exactly known for
it’s sunshine but oh, there’s nowhere like it
when the sun does decide to make an
appearance…then we Dubliners flock outside
as if our very lives depended on it and where
nicer to dine than al fresco?!
For a super buzzy atmosphere Coppinger
Row is hard to beat offering simple,
Mediterranean plates (and more importantly
cocktails!) While away an afternoon people
watching on the (heated!) terrace and even
Bono is a big fan! Their sister restaurant
Charlotte Quay is THE perfect spot to relax -
it’s on the Grand Canal Dock waterfront and
boasts beautiful views, signature cocktails
and delicious food all day long - their
weekend brunch is not to be missed!
Asador, a spectacular barbecue restaurant
on Haddington Road in upmarket D4 has a
fully enclosed heated terrace perhaps more
suited to our weather and also available for
exclusive hire. They’ve just opened a sister
restaurant Prado in Clontarf which promises
the same delicious food and experience.
There’s always a chance that you’ll have
that special occasion to celebrate or a client
to impress and Dublin boasts it’s fair share of
fine dining restaurants - each offering great
service, sumptuous dishes in a beautiful
dining room.

DINING IN

Newer additions to the fine dining scene are
10 Fleet Street in the newly reopened
Morgan Hotel offering superb all day dining,
cocktails and more…Morelands Grill
opposite Trinity College is a chic and
contemporary urban steak house restaurant
and their Saturday Jazz lunch is not to be
missed!
Pichet on Trinity Street, is a modern take
on a classic bistro. Combining both French
influence and modern Irish cuisine, it has
been on the receiving end of numerous
awards and Bib Gourmand’s since it’s
inception in 2009.
Elle’s Bar & Bistro in the stunning Iveagh
Hotel on Harcourt Street utilises the freshest
local ingredients, blending a traditional bistro
menu with seasonal Irish produce. The
library is a cosy space, perfect for a cocktail
or a quick bite, while the main room is
perfect for more formal dining.
Their Afternoon Tea is the perfect opportunity
to sit back and relax in their sumptuous
lobby.
10 Fleet Street
Asador
Over on South William Street Sole Seafood
& Grill is all about the customer experience -
from the moment you are greeted at the
gorgeous bar area to picking your choice
from an amazing selection of seafood
complemented by an extensive wine and
cocktail list. Their sister restaurant Fire -
ideally located beside The Mansion House
on Dawson Street - has for many years been
firmly committed to supporting sustainable
local Irish produce and only serves the finest
selection of award winning meats and
produce that Ireland has to offer.
As a coastal city, seafood is definitely a
speciality as witnessed in Rosa Madre in
Temple Bar (Italian meets fabulous seafood)
and The Lobster Pot in Ballsbridge where
elegance meets old world charm right beside
the RDS and a mere five minutes from the
Aviva Stadium.
If you are willing to venture outside of the
city centre (oh and you definitely should!!
Hop on the DART and make a day trip of it!)
the beautiful fishing village of Howth and
The King Sitric is at the end of the East Pier,
established 45 years ago and is still at the top
of its’ game (they’ve accommodation if you
really want to make the most of it!)
East is The King Sitric’s little sister. Located
in the old wine cellar of the restaurant and it
has a wonderful terrace for all day casual
seafood dining. The menu focuses on Irish
shellfish and wild fish, but there is always
plenty to choose from for non-fish eaters!
If it’s a knockout sea view you’re after in a
dining room that simply wows, then Aqua is
the place for you…situated in the former
Howth Sailing Club, the dining room offers a
panoramic view across Howth sound to the
magical island of Ireland’s Eye - romantic
dining at it’s best!
On the road to Howth and only a few
minutes from the city centre is The Baths -
the iconic Clontarf Baths have been lovingly
reimagined & restored to create a beautiful
bar, restaurant and venue.
So, what else are we Dubs famous for?!
Our pubs of course!! And they don’t come
much more traditional than O’Neill’s on
Suffolk Street - the perfect place for a pint, a
full Irish (that’s breakfast to keep you going
for the day), carvery or just to watch the
match!
T.P. Smith’s on Jervis Street caters
especially for tour groups and offers a true
Irish dining and pub experience and The
Norseman slap bang in the middle of Temple
Bar boasts some of the best traditional Irish
music around with live music seven nights a
week - pop in for a pint and stay for a
hooley!
Matt The Thresher combines a beautiful bar
with delicious seafood in the heart of
Georgian Dublin and is the recipient of many
awards including Winner of Best Gastro Pub
2019 & Best Seafood Experience 2018 at the
National Hospitality Awards. They serve food
all day everyday.
The newly re-imagined Café en Seine is one
of Dublin’s most iconic and stunning venues on
Dawson Street, it’s a beautiful, newly designed
space which features several dining
experiences, along with a host of bars and
bespoke event areas and offers an extensive
food menu.
Located only 15 minutes from Dublin Airport
and 10 minutes from both the city centre and
Croke Park, Botanic House is within walking
distance of The National Botanic Gardens and
Glasnevin Cemetary Museum and offers classic
food & drink in a warm convivial atmosphere.
A hugely popular spot with locals, serving
delicious food seven days a week.
Try something a little different at Urban
Brewing in the CHQ Building in the Dublin
Docklands - they’ve pretty much got everything
combining a craft brewery with two unique
bars and Stack A restaurant in a stunning 19th
century warehouse space - don’t miss their
brewery tours!
Beer is big in Dublin and Rascals Brewing in
Inchicore are a Brewery, Pizzeria, Taproom and
Event Space all rolled into one - check them
out at www.rascalsbrewing.com
We’ve also got wine bars aplenty - most
notably Piglet in Cow’s Lane, Temple Bar
and La Ruelle just off Dawson Street - for
authenticity and amazing wine lists, these spots
are a must. They also offer authentic dishes to
complement your wine choices. The Exchequer
has something for everyone - a bar, delicious
food, cocktails and wine in either of their
premises - in Exchequer Street and the uber
cool neighbourhood of Ranelagh on the
outskirts of town.
We’ve established that we like to kick back
and have a little fun and some of our venues
LOVE to party - most notably TGI Friday’s
(and there’s six of them around Dublin!)
and the newly revamped Hard Rock Café
on Fleet Street.

For something a little more laid back,
casual yet wholesome, where wide ranging
menus are served all day long: Bóbós (bó
meaning cow as Gaeilge - in Irish) serves
THE best burgers (among other delectable
dishes and they’ve three places in the city
centre alone), The Gotham Café is a long
standing favourite just off Grafton Street on
South Anne Street (perfect for people
watching on their terrace) with an amazing
menu and at a very reasonable price too -
check out Gotham in Stillorgan for a
neighbourly, chilled out experience.
George’s Street Arcade is a MUST visit!
Ireland’s first, magnificent Victorian Shopping
Centre is, as it was, when it opened in 1892.
It has traded continuously since that date and
is now a bustling shopping haven offering
Independent Traders and lots of little cafés
and food stalls
.
Flanagan’s on O’Connell Street (beside The
Spire!) is a family-run business since 1980,
offering a warm welcome, excellent
hospitality and great food at exceptional
prices. Their Speakeasy Lounge has live Jazz
on weekends and can be hired for events.
The Iveagh Restaurant is on the very lively
Camden Street and opens daily for breakfast,
lunch & dinner and can cater for up to 250
people and tailor make any special event for

The just opened Glas on Chatham Street
(just off Grafton Street) is getting rave reviews
and boasts innovative vegetarian and vegan
dining that’s to everyone’s taste. Add
cocktails and a really innovative wine menu
and it’s bound to be a huge success!
The Girl & The Goose is a family friendly
restaurant located in the heart of Ballsbridge
and serves French/Irish cuisine for food
lovers. Heading back towards town again,
Hampton’s Bar Bistro on Morehampton Road
has a heated terrace area, live music
Thursday to Monday and is a great spot for
watching sporting events on one of their
many big screens.

1900 on Harcourt Street combines great food
with cocktails, a perfect spot for dinner or if
you’re planning a special event.
For many years we Dubliners felt an Italian
meal was pretty much as exotic as it gets. Our
love for all things Italiano hasn’t waned and
there are a wonderful range of Italian
restaurants in Dublin to choose from. In
fairness, they are pretty much all run by
Italians and authenticity is guaranteed. Add
some good vino to the mix and a great night
promises to be had by all!
Honourable mentions are Forno 500°
(boasting Dublin’s first bespoke wood fired
oven) and ideally located on Dame Street.
It’s sister restaurant Toscana (just opposite
Dublin City Hall - you can’t miss it!) is famed
for it’s home grown, seasonal, organic
produce from their OWN Wicklow farm!
Milano has many stylish restaurants dotted
around Dublin, each individually designed.
You’re always guaranteed a relaxed and
friendly service and a meal that won’t break
the bank! See milano.ie for their locations...
Pacino’s is ideally positioned neighboring
Trinity College with Dublin’s historic Molly
Malone Statue across the street, and meters
from Dublin’s famous Grafton Street. With a
capacity of 140 seats Pacino’s offers an old
world vibe - brickwork, wooden floors, mosaic
tile and soft lighting combine to create a rustic
atmosphere to complement the simple but
fantastic authentic Italian food.
Il Vicoletto (always busy so try to book
ahead - it’s so worth it!), and Al Vesuvio (a
romantic bar and dining room in an 18thcentury
vaulted brick and stone wine cellar)
are in Temple Bar and have wonderful front of
house teams happy to guide you through their
menus, help with wine pairings and ensure
every customer leaves their premises happy!
Cirillo’s, located on Baggot Street has a super
variety of pizza and pasta - check out their
pizza bianchi - white pizzas…
Finally, the new kid on the block - SANO -
Neapolitan pizza (it’s chewier!) at a
ridiculously affordable price, with drinks at
great value too and no meal would be
complete without an ice cream cone or
Nutella pizza - guaranteed to make the kids
(and grown ups) extremely happy!
have many superb Chinese, Indian, Thai &
Nepalese restaurants in Dublin. All offering
incredibly varied menus where there is quite
literally something for everyone…we have
evolved from the curry (though still an absolute
favourite!) to sushi and dim sum. Here’s just a
selection of wonderful ethnic restaurants - each
one striving to create an authentic dining
experience and challenge and delight our taste
buds!
Monty’s of Kathmandu on Eustace Street has an
incredible menu, one of the dishes needs to be
ordered 24 hours in advance! Shiva and his wife
Lina (who runs very successful cookery courses
and writes cook books) have been running the
restaurant for over 20 years and are delighted
with the recent addition of The Wine Rooms
where you can sample some delectable “Nepas”
- that’s Nepalese Tapas don’t you know!
Kathmandu Kitchen across the road on Dame
Street is one of the most welcoming restaurants in
Dublin where the atmosphere is buzzy and you
will most definitely be tempted to try something a
little bit different! They’ve just opened a
restaurant in Malahide, a beautiful coastal village
with a marina in North Co. Dublin.
With two restaurants, three Saba To Go outlets
and the Saba Street Kitchen, Saba is a great
success story and deservedly so. Founded in
2006, Saba has consistently produced the very
best in Thai and Vietnamese cuisine.
Yamamori has three great venues and is truly
Dublin’s authentic Japanese dining experience.
Yamamori Noodles is the original (over 20 years
on Sth Gt. George’s Street), Yamamori Sushi is
beside the Ha’penny Bridge and also features a
whiskey bar and Yamamori Isakaya is the place
to be for late night drinks and their Sake Bar is
not to be missed!
Eatokyo is a Japanese Noodle & Sushi bar with
places on Talbot Street, Capel Street and
Wellington Quay - a peaceful haven in which to
relax and enjoy some traditional Japanese cuisine
whilst overlooking the river Liffey...
Hang Dai
Don't let the anonymous takeaway door fool
you, it's far from chicken balls and 3-in-1s that
Hang Dai on Camden Street was
raised...Stepping into this restaurant is like
stepping into a different world - you are literally
transported as the restaurant interior resembles a
subway train carriage and yes, it’s as cool as it
sounds! Cocktails, DJS and a new outdoor
balcony area ensure a fun filled night out.
Old Post Office, the new fine dining Sichuan
restaurant is in the heart of Blackrock - another
well known coastal village on Dublins’southside
and is already becoming the cornerstone of
elevated Asian cookery in the southside Dublin
suburb. Easily accessible from the city centre by
DART, the restaurant represents the best of
Chinese cooking showcasing flavours distinctly
inherent to the Sichuan region while playing
host to some of the most stunning views
overlooking Dublin Bay.
In Leopardstown we find the brand new Urban
Fox, a bar and brasserie in the stylish Beacon
Hotel. A fresh and contemporary dining
experience is combined with an expertly chosen
wine list, an extensive range of craft beers and
inventive cocktails.
Back towards the city centre, just on the other
side of our beautiful Phoenix Park (the largest
enclosed park within any European capital city)
are a handful of restaurants encompassing the
Eat in Dublin 15 group - a co-op of family
owned restaurants located in the heart of
Castleknock and Blanchardstown Villages - a
warm welcome and pleasing prices are assured
and The Canal Café Bar or Seans Bar at the
12th Lock Boutique Hotel is the perfect spot to
while away an afternoon at the Castleknock
Marina on the Royal Canal...
So there you have it - a variety of eateries in
this wonderful city. Try as many as you can and
most importantly, enjoy! “Ithe, ól agus ceol go
maidin” which literally means eat, drink and
music until morning!

Dedicated to preserving and spreading the culture of real Neapolitan pizza.
Forno 500° is the first pizzeria in Ireland to build a fixed original

commissioned the Ferrara family and their team of artisans to leave
their factory in Naples to make their very first fixed oven here in
Ireland. Just four months after opening, we were honored with the
Certification of True Authentic Neopolitan Pizza from the coveted
Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana.
Forno 500° is passionate about staying true to the principles of
traditional Neapolitan pizza-making techniques, using only the top
ingredients and VPN Association is relying on us to spread their passion.
To receive the AVPN trademark, the team at Forno500° make pizzas
that adhere to its regulations upholding Neapolitan traditions and
the art of preparation recently recognized by UNESCO: using San

the specific dome-shaped wood-burning ovens 485°- 500° degrees.
“It is so important to rest the dough allowing maturation which we

THE DUBLIN PUB
“Good puzzle would be to cross Dublin without passing a pub...”
“Good puzzle”‘ James Joyce had his
humble hero Leopold Bloom wonder in
his remarkable novel, Ulysses, “would
be to cross Dublin without passing a
pub.” It would be practically
impossible, of course. There are literally
hundreds of them, peppered all around
the centre, and they have played a
remarkable role over the years in
shaping the city’s political, social,
intellectual and artistic life. Revolutions,
protests, great novels, plays and poems
have been planned and plotted in some
of the more famous of them, and the
pub has always acted as a bastion of
social equality and free speech in a city
that was long occupied, and for a long
time sternly conservative.
Dublin is probably the world’s most
famous drinking city, and that of course
is all down to the unique atmosphere of
its pubs. Although some (The Brazen
Head, for instance, which may date
back to the 12th century) are older,
most of the city’s more famous public
houses date from the early or mid
19th century, and their beautiful
interiors are typically high-ceilinged
and ornate, with long wooden bars
and huge mirrors along the walls.
Their appearance, though, however
admirable, is a little it beside the point -
Dublin pub’s aren’t renowned for their
polished brass and Victorian splendour,
but for their unrilvalled conviviality, wit
and warmth. And, however historic or
grand it may be, a pub is ultimately
created by its customers, and its staff.
Unlike bars in England and elsewhere,
Dublin’s pubs were always privately
owned, rather that the pawns of some
huge brewery. This, and the fact that
they were generally family-run, added
to their individuality. Until the middle
of the last century, most of them were
male only, and predominantly working
class. The city centre pubs tended to be
favoured by one or other of the various
trades and professions. There were
actors’ pubs, busdrivers’ pubs,
politicians’ pubs and dockers’ pubs.
There were singing pubs, talking pubs
and quiet, contemplative pubs.
Probably the most famous of them all
though, were those favoured by the
city’s journalists.
Journalists tended to be extravagant
drinkers, and thus the publican’s best
friend. The Palace Bar on Fleet Street
was for a long time associated with
The Irish Times, and during the 1940s
and 1950s, its star writers would gather
in the wonderfully snug back room.
Hacks, though, are fickle creatures,
and they often defected to Bowe’s
which they liked to call ‘the old lady of
Fleet Street’, and O’Neill’s on Suffolk
Street. O’Neill’s had one of the most
sought after snugs in the city (snugs are
walled-off little alcoves in which you
can sit and drink privately and gossip
17
DINING IN
DUBLIN
and plot) and, although it was
extensively refurbished and extended in
the early 1990s, the original front bar is
just as it was.
Some of Dublin’s favourite old pubs
had untimely appointments with the
wrecking ball during the 1970s in
particular, or else were simply
refurbished to death, but a good handful
of the very finest remain, steadfast in a
changing town. There’s been a pub on
the site of Mulligan’s, of Poolbeg Street,
since 1782, and the present building
dates from the 1850s. It was a firm
favourite of the now defunct Irish Press
newspaper, as well as actors from the
old Theatre Royal. The plain wooden
interior has hardly changed at all since
the 1920s, and has seen some eventful
evenings. Mulligan’s was regularly
raided by the Black and Tans during the
Civil War, as it was reputed to be a
popular haunt for IRA men. John F.
Kennedy drank in here as a young man,
as did Bing Crosbie and Gracie Fields.
O’Neill’s
Mulligan’s though, is most famous for
its unfailingly excellent pint, and so is
Ryan’s of Parkgate Street. It should be,
of course, sitting barely a hundred yards
across the river from the James’s Gate
Brewery itself. It has one of the finest
Victorian interiors in the country,
as well as one of the cosiest
atmospheres. The star of the show,
though, is undoubtedly the pint.
Neary’s off Grafton Street is one of the
most well known pubs in town. Perhaps
that has something to do with its utterly
distinctive exterior, a handsome brick
and limestone front with two sculpted
bronze arms on either side of the main
entrance, holding aloft two lit globes.
The interior is distinctly Edwardian,
with plush red carpets and brass fittings,
and a long, marble topped bar. If the
whole effect looks vaguely theatrical,
this is probably no accident - the bar
has a long association with the Gaiety
Theatre, its neighbour at the rear.
In the days of Music Hall it was choc-abloc
with actors, and there were even
adjoining back doors between the two
buildings through which nervous
performers could sneak just before the
curtain came up.
Peter O’Toole was particularly fond of
Neary’s, as you can imagine, and Flann
O’Brien drank regularly here - but Flann
O’Brien drank regularly everywhere!
Like many of Dublin’s oldest bars,
The Long Hall on Georges Street, did
not admit women until the 1970s. It’s
still predominantly male at the front
now, but the back room is entirely
another story. Many tourists pop their
heads in for a pint and a look at one of
the finest Victorian interiors in the city.
The carpet may be a bit faded and the
atmosphere rather dark, but nothing
much has been changed in here over
the years and the bar is wonderfully
evocative of Dublin’s past.
We’ve been talking here of course
about the traditional Dublin pub,
beloved institutions that have been run
in more or less the same way for
generations. But over the past decade or
two, Dublin has suddenly changed
almost beyond recognition. A fairly
sleepy city has become a humming hive
of industry, and the pub scene has been
affected as profoundly as every other
aspect of Dublin life.
The old bars are still there, of course,
but alongside them are now a
bewildering array of sumptuous and
imaginatively decorated lounges, clubs
and cafés. Dublin now has a genuine
choice as to where and how it will
drink, and the presence of these new,
dimly-lit cosmopolitan hangouts only
makes you appreciate the older
institutions when you go back to them.
And besides, the essence of the Dublin
pub has nothing to do with wooden
bars and brass fittings, it’s more about
mood than décor. Dublin pubs are
tolerant and convivial places, in which
differences are put aside along with the
cares of everyday life, and a brief
moment of garralous fun can be had.
Laughter is the commonest noise you’ll
hear in any pub around this
city, which is a sure sign
that these are the places in
which Dubliners truly relax.
The true Dublin pub is a
mood, not a building, and
that mood can exist in the
newest as easily as in the
oldest of our city’s bars.

Celebrating 20 years in 2020, Aqua
Restaurant offers a truly unique
dining experience overlooking the water...
Just 25 minutes from Dublin City Centre
or from Dublin Airport, Howth is a
picturesque fishing village offering a
gorgeous respite from the City hustle
and bustle.
Aqua sits at the very end of the West Pier
in the former Howth Sailing Club
headquarters. From the first floor dining
room you can enjoy a panoramic view
across Howth sound to the magical island
of Ireland’ s Eye.
The bar at Aqua is a true haven to enjoy a
pre or post dining drink with a birds eye
view of bustling Howth harbour.
The only challenge is to rise from the
couches and continue on your journey!
We look forward to welcoming you to
Aqua at our glorious home in Howth,
North County Dublin!
“ …The true star here is the room,
which gives you so much sea view
you feel like you’re on a cruise ship
that’s just docked at the pier.
It’s got a floor like a ship’s deck
with glossy pale timbers and
silver and purple velvet curtains.
The Scandi-style lights just add
to the look and beyond all that
are acres of glass and sea. ”

Don't let the anonymous takeaway door
fool you, it's far from chicken balls and
3-in-1s that Hang Dai was raised.
Reverent raiding parties set off for Beijing
and Hong Kong, returning with the
knowledge to forge a menu from local
ingredients. Our aim is to make food that
would pass the strictest Chinese
grandma's taste test.
Roast duck and dumplings are our main
squeeze but music is no mere side
hustle. A custom built sound system and
DJ booth belt out tunes from last service
until the wee hours, with a carefullyconstructed
cocktail menu in tow.
Lashings of disco and Hang Dai Sours
are the order of the day.

When we took over The Legal Eagle,
we inherited some of the glorious
features, and the building really spoke
to us of old-fashioned pub-grub.
Lunch downstairs features a daily
- changing roast-in-a-roll, Irish potato
flatbreads (Think bacon, cabbage
and parsley sauce. Think roasted squash,
fig and honey. Think smoked haddock
brandade, fennel and duck egg!)
and meats from our wood oven, traditional
meat platters (hay-smoked ham,
corned mutton, haslet, pickles,
sourdough etc) and fish platters.
Dinner downstairs adds roasted bone
marrow, rump heart, cauliflower rarebit,
Shropshire Blue soufflé and
roasted-buttered turnip tops.
There are twenty craft beers on tap
(with a rotating guest tap), and a small,
but considered and decidedly un-trendy,
classic cocktail list. We are crazy about
beer, whiskey and gin but wine is where
we started and it remains a driving force
for us. We have over 200 wines
on a stellar list written with love.

Housed in a charming stone cottage
which dates in part from 1700, The
Washerwoman is a neighbourhood
restaurant but perfect for a special
occasion or a casual dining experience.
Located only a few minutes walk from
The National Botanic Gardens,
Glasnevin Cemetery Museum & Tours
and Glasnevin Trust Walking Tours.
Given the locale and the fact that we
welcome families, there are exciting,
healthy and accessible foods for kids
(plus some little quirks to keep them
interested, engaged and most
importantly, occupied!), a host of diner
classics, and a particularly extensive
steak selection. We are working with
some of our favourite craft butchers to
create our own aging room and source
some amazing salt-aged meats.
Brunch and Sunday roast at
The Washerwoman has become a
northside institution. Weekday mornings
and lunchtimes, take advantage of our
in-house Woollen Mills bakery delights,
re-creating some of those tasty Mills
sandwiches to eat-in or take-out, and
creating a hub for the local community
to meet, drink, eat and be merry!

When The Winding Stair opened
its door, as a restaurant, in August 2006,
Dubliners flocked to see what
all the fuss was about.
Here was a restaurant serving simple,
homecooked and most importantly all
Irish food in a little room overlooking
the river Liffey.
A gastro-pub style of cuisine but using
only seasonal Irish produce where
possible and an army of well-trained
friendly staff who were ready to explain
this ethos to the diners.
The room itself is always buzzing.
The venue had occupied a special place
in Dubliner’s hearts, having been
a famous landmark bookshop and café
for many years and photographs of
its famous visitors line the entrance to
the bathrooms.
For a truly urban view over the river
Liffey and the finest examples of Irish
produce treated with care and respect,
there is no better place than the quirky
Winding Stair. It’s always busy so book
early to avoid disappointment!

The Woollen Mills has been one of the
most iconic buildings and businesses in
Dublin for over one hundred years,
and to have taken over this site is
a serious privilege.
To this end, we hope that The Woollen
Mills be quintessentially Irish, local and
of its locale. We want it to be an 'Eating
House', a house of food, a place to grab
a serious coffee and bun, a serious plate
of Irish ham and chips, a place to take
home a box of salads and scones,
sourdough and sausage rolls, or sit with
seven courses of anchovies and crab
and herrings and pork and beef rib,
overlooking the Ha'penny Bridge
and Liffey with a fine bottle of red.
Or a craft beer!
The building is over four floors and is
(almost) literally on top of the bridge,
with double aspect windows and a roof
terrace onto the ultimate Dublin
cityscape. It is truly magical and so so
special. We have our own bakery and
will have a large retail and take-out
emphasis, so passing folk can buy our
breads, pastries and cakes, as well as
choose from a huge sandwich and salad
selection during the day.
If you sit long enough, you will see
at least one person you know!

At The Yarn we wanted our pizzas to be
a little easier to share, a little easier to
pick up (as you wander onto the roof
with a cocktail) and a little crisper.
We didn't want a base quite as crispy as
a Roma pie and so, after Ian Connolly,
our executive chef returned from a stint
training in a pizza academy in Lazio,
along with his chief pizza maker,
we realised the style we were after was
an 'Italiano' base - softer than a Roma,
but cooked at the same temperature,
with a Neapolitan style crust.
The closest in style would be a New
York pizza which was brought from
Napoli and adapted to American tastes,
so as to create a pick-able up-able slice.
The toppings are inspired by Ian's trip to
Lazio but with lots of Irish & American
influences also.
We cater for all events, big and small.
Intimate and, well, LARGE. We can host
your Opening, Product Launch, Staff
Party, Wedding, Wedding After-Party,
Birthday, Hen or Divorce Party.
Whatever your event, talk to us and we'll
try to look after you, tailoring a menu to
suit. We can also run a cash bar if your
budget doesn't stretch to covering your
booze-hound mates!

Cirillo’s was established in May 2016. Started by James Cirillo, who was born
in to a family that had a long history with Italian food and wine.
We serve up authentic Italian antipasti, pasta dishes and wood-fired pizzas for
lunch and dinner, with all our pasta, breads and pizza dough made fresh in-house
every day. We also have a choice of regional Italian wines from boutique
producers, as well as craft beers and Italian apertifs.
Our seriously impressive pizza oven was imported from Naples and burns
a blend of Irish oak and ash. All our pizzas are made to the traditional Vera Pizza
Napoletana standards using San Marzano tomatoes, 00 flour, fresh mozzarella
all finished in our wood fire oven. We slow-prove our pizza dough for 30 hours
