the parish noticeboard — 1 Notices Churchyard mobility We have a lovely churchyard that is also rather large. The distance from our small car park and other entrances to either the church or The Ark is not inconsiderable for those with mobility issues. The PCC’s ‘Everybody Welcome’ agenda focuses continuously on how we can make our church more welcoming and hospitable and with this in mind I am delighted to tell you of a recent decision of the PCC. We will be purchasing a four seater, electric golf buggy that will enable those who are elderly or frail to comfortably make the journey. A rota of approved volunteer drivers will be established and all is covered by existing church insurance. The total costs are being generously met by Christina Goodacre, in memory of her late husband, Peter, and by Janet Robson, in thanksgiving for the work of our church. The plan is to formally inaugurate the vehicle as part of our Jubilee celebrations on 5 June, although it may be in use before then. The Parish Magazine - May 2022 7 Mothering Sunday: Thanks t0 (left to right) Ellie, Molly, Penny and Liz, every lady attending the 10.30am Mothering Sunday service received a posy of spring flowers. The floral four, helped by Liz's husband Dave, made over 100! Platinum Jubilee In addition to the Scarecrow Festival and other celebrations across the parish, we will be hosting a community service of celebration on 5 June at 11am. The 103rd Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Carey, will be preaching. This will be followed by a drinks reception in The Ark garden, all finishing before the Sonning village street party gets underway. Special floral arrangements will fill the church for the Bank Holiday weekend, provided by our wedding and funeral florist, Nicky Watters. Jamie Peter Renniee FIVE YEARS ON: Officially opened 5 years ago this month, The Ark at St Andrew's Church, and its garden, will be the setting for a Platinum Jubilee reception after a community celebration to mark Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The special service of thanksgiving will start at 11am on Sunday 5 June in the presence of the 103rd Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Carey, who will be preaching.
