ANOTHER APPEARANCE ON THE PODIUM. JAMIE CURRENTLY SITS 3RD IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. CONRAD MEWSE CURRENTLY
SITS SECOND IN POINTS AFTER THE EVENTS OF MOTO 2 AT FOXHILL AND WILL BE READY TO GRAB HIS CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD
BACK. CONRAD WAS UNTOUCHABLE AT LYNG IN 2021 AND THE CIRCUIT IS ONE HE SEEMS TO LIKE WHICH SPELLS BAD NEWS
FOR THE REST OF THE CLASS. JAMIE LAW IS 4TH IN POINTS AND WILL WANT TO GET THE TWO-STROKE MACHINE BACK ON THE
BOX. TOM GRIMSHAW WILL BE OOZING CONFIDENCE AFTER FOXHILL AND WILL TRY TO CONTINUE THE RUN OF FORM THAT HE
IS IN. CRENDON FASTRACK HONDA RIDER JAY HAGUE WILL BE ONE TO WATCH AT LYNG, JAY HAS HAD SOME BAD LUCK IN THE
OPENING ROUNDS BUT WILL BE KEEN TO SHOW HE IS A CONTENDER FOR THE PODIUM.
USUAL SUSPECTS FIND THEMSELVES AT THE TOP OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE MX1 CLASS. TOMMY SEARLE AND HARRY KULLAS
LOOK LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO FIGHT FOR THE TITLE AGAIN IN 22. KULLAS TOOK THE OVERALL AT FOXHILL OVER SEARLE
GRABBING THE POINTS HE NEEDED TO PUT HIMSELF 2ND IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. TOMMY HAS A 14-POINT ADVANTAGE AT THE
TOP OF THE TABLE AND FINISHED 3RD OVERALL AT LYNG IN 2021 BEHIND HEARLINGS AND WATSON. DESPITE SUFFERING FROM
SYMPTOMS OF LONG COVID, SHAUN SIMPSON SITS 3RD IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP AND IS A CONTENDER FOR THE TITLE. JOSH
GILBERT HAS SHOWED REAL SPEED THIS YEAR AND SITS 4TH IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP, HE WILL BE ONE TO WATCH.

LYNG
ROUND 3 OF THE REVO BRITISH MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
FUELLED BY GULF RACE FUELS HEAD TO CADDERS HILL
OTHERWISE KNOWN AS LYNG. NORWICH VIKING MX HAVE BEEN
RUNNING THE CIRCUIT SINCE 1936 WHERE FOR A TIME IT WAS
USED AS A FORCES TRAINING AREA DURING THE WAR. LYNG HAS
HOSTED A 125CC GRAND PRIX AND HAS BEEN USED FOR BRITISH
CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS FOR OVER 30 YEARS. IN 2021 CADDERS
HILL WAS THE FIRST BRITISH ROUND TO SEE THE RETURN OF
SPECTATORS AFTER THE PANDEMIC AND THEY WEREN’T SHORT
OF ENTERTAINMENT AS MXGP RIDERS, JEFFERY HEARLINGS AND
BEN WATSON WERE IN ATTENDANCE TO PREPARE FOR THE GP
SEASON. THIS YEAR WILL SEE MX1, MX2, 125CC AND BW85CC
CLASSES COMPETING.
WILL WANT TO REPEAT THE FORM HE WAS IN AT FOXHILL.
JOSH VAIL WAS 3RD AT FOXHILL AND CURRENTLY SITS 3RD IN
THE CHAMPIONSHIP, HE HAS BEEN SCORING VERY
CONSISTENTLY AND WILL DEFINITELY BE LOOKING TO CAUSE
AN UPSET AT THE FRONT.
ROUND 3 WILL SEE THE RETURN OF THE 125CC CLASS WHO
DIDN’T FEATURE AT FOXHILL AND WILL BE EAGER TO GET BACK
INTO THE FLOW OF THINGS. IT WAS THE CHARLIE HEYMAN
SHOW AT CULHAM FOR ROUND 1 OF THE SERIES AS HE
DOMINATED PROCEEDINGS, HE CURRENTLY LEADS THE
CHAMPIONSHIP AND WILL BE LOOKING TO ADD TO HIS POINTS
TALLY WITH A SIMILAR RESULT AROUND THE NORFOLK BASED
CIRCUIT.
THE BW85 CLASS DIDN’T DISAPPOINT AT FOXHILL WITH SOME
NAIL-BITING RACING IN BOTH MOTOS BETWEEN THE TWO
YOUNG MEN LEADING THE CHAMPIONSHIP, BILLY ASKEW AND
JAKE WALKER. WALKER CAME OUT ON TOP AT FOXHILL WITH A
PASS MADE IN THE LAST CORNER OF THE LAST MOTO. ASKEW
CURRENTLY LEADS THE CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 222 POINTS OVER
WALKER WITH 213 AS THEY GO INTO LYNG. BOTH RIDERS
COMPETED IN THE CLASS AT THE VENUE LAST YEAR WITH
ASKEW TAKING A 4TH OVERALL AND WALKER A 13TH OVERALL
IN A STACKED CLASS, WHICH SUGGESTS ASKEW SEEMS TO
PREFER THE LAY OF THE LAND. HOWEVER, BOTH RIDERS HAVE
AN EXTRA YEAR OF RACING UNDER THEIR BELTS AND WALKER
PHOTOS: ANDREW CONWAY
GRT IMPACT KTM RIDER OLLIE COLMER SITS 2ND IN THE SERIES
AND IS ONE OF THE 125CC RIDERS THAT WILDCARDED AT
FOXHILL SO HE IS IN BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP FORM AS WE GO
INTO LYNG, WILL THE EXTRA RACE TIME GIVE HIM THE EDGE HE
NEEDS TO STEAL THE LIMELIGHT FROM HEYMAN? KASSIMIR
HINDERSON SHOWED GOOD SPEED AT CULHAM AND SITS 3RD
IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP WITH COLE MCCULLOUGH SAT 4TH IN
POINTS. ONE TO WATCH WILL BE JOE BROOKES WHO IS COMING
BACK FROM AN INJURY HE SUSTAINED AT MATTERLY BASIN.

THE RISE OF
JAMIE
CARPENTER
Jamie Carpenter is a rising star in the MX2 class who topped the podium during the second round
of the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship Fuelled By Gulf Race Fuels at Foxhill. The GRT
Impact KTM team is primarily a youth based team who is breaking into the professional motocross
scene with riders like Jamie Carpenter. We caught up with Jamie after Foxhill to see how he feels
going forward in the Championship.
Firstly, first place on the podium at Foxhill, what are your thoughts on that?
It was an amazing day for me, taking myself and the teams first British Championship Overall Win is a day we will remember! I
have been working for this for years and especially after picking up an injury with a long recovery at the end of last season. Ever
since I got back on the bike in January I have been slowly building, so to get on the podium and an overall win this early in the
season is a great feeling.
What’s it like Riding with the GRT impact KTM team who are successfully now breaking into the professional
motocross scene?
The past few years I have been a privateer prepping my own bikes along with the help of my Dad at the
races. Joining the GRT Impact KTM has been very good for me as it has alleviated me from a lot of jobs which
makes it easier for me to focus on my training and racing. Everyone in the team is great and they put on a
very professional set up!
Moving forward are you looking to replicate your riding at Foxhill and push for more podium
positions?
To get on the podium as much as possible is my goal at the British Championship so I hope to keep the
ball rolling after my recent performances.
How are you feeling going to Lyng, it’s a different type of circuit to Foxhill, what are
your plans?
Lyng is more of a sandy surface which I prefer so I am excited for it! The start
plays a big part racing at Lyng so I will try sharpening up on those and my sand
skills in the week before the race.
How are you going to tackle the track?
For me if I can execute qualifying and pull good starts the rest will take care of its self, I
have put in the work so I know my fitness is there and that I have the pace to run at the
front.
How are you feeling going to Lyng, it’s a different type of circuit to Foxhill, what are
your plans?
GRT Impact KTM, Holeshot Motocross, Impact Bodywork, JGR Performance, KAS Suspension, CI Sport, Motul UK, Airport
Autos, Southern Fire & Security, Dep Pipes, Metro Plumbers Brighton, Southern Kitchens, Mole Valley Landscaping,
Metrics Engineering, Acerbis UK , Dirty Devil Products, CrossX Racing, Greenstar Property Services, Seryt UK , Whites
Transport, Thurrock Car & Van Rental, Paul Grimshaw Vehicle Movements, GiveAwayLife, King & Stevens Ltd
Last but not least my family for all their time and commitment!

JAY HAGUE
Jay Hague is the newest member of the Crendon Fastrack Honda joining the team in 2021. The ex-British youth Champion
has continued with the team after a successful season in 2021 landing seventh overall in the MX2 championship and third in
the expert cup Championship. Jay currently sits sixth after the second round of the Championship at Foxhill.
SO THIS IS YOUR SECOND YEAR WITH THE CRENDON FASTRACK HONDA TEAM,
HOW’S IT BEEN RACING WITH THE TEAM? WHAT HAS THE SUPPORT BEEN
LIKE?
Yeh it’s my second year with Crendon fast track Honda, it’s been a great
time so far , I cant thank the team enough for the support they give and
how hard they work to get everything perfect every time I ride the bike.
RIDING WITH JAKE AND TOMMY, HAVE YOU LEARNT ANYTHING FROM THEM ?
Riding with Jake and Tommy and having Dave there is definitely the
highlights of the whole time with the team been surrounded by people
like them and watching how they train/ride has certainly helped.
WHAT ARE YOU HOPES FOR THIS SEASON ? ARE YOU LOOKING FOR
ANY RACE WINS? PODIUM POSITIONS ?
For this season I’d like to finish overall top 3 is my goal but a few
podiums or maybe a race win would be nice.

JAY HAS SUFFERED MORE THAN MOST WITH VARIOUS
ILLNESSES/COVID ETC IN THE BUILD UP TO THE NEW SEASON.
BUT THAT SAID HIS COMMITMENT TO HIS PREPARATION HAS BEEN
FIRST CLASS.
HE MADE A GREAT START TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP AT CULHAM IN THE
FIRST RACE AND WAS UNFORTUNATE TO BE TAKEN DOWN IN THE
SECOND RACE.
FOXHILLS WAS ANOTHER STRONG DAY FOR JAY WITH 2 CONSISTENT
RIDES ARE A TRACK THAT WAS NEVER EASY TO PASS ON.
I KNOW JAY IS VERY DETERMINED TO BE IN THE TOP 3 AT THE END OF
THE SEASON, WITH THE TRACKS COMING UP I SEE NO REASON WHY
NOT, TOGETHER AS A TEAM WE HAVE TO FIND THE CONSISTENCY.
- DAVE THORPE
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON LYNG? HOW
ARE YOUR GOING TO TACKLE THE TRACK?
Lyng is one of my favourite tracks on the
calendar, hoping for a good start which
makes life a lot easier to get some good
results .
HOW DID YOU START IN MOTOCROSS?
My dad and granda got me into it
when I was 4 I got my first bike which
was a ktm mini adventure.
ANY ADVICE TO YOUR YOUNGER FANS?
Advice would be to just go and have fun and the results will get
better if your enjoying it.

Cadders Hill will host a round of the 2022 Revo British Motocross Championship fuelled by Gulf Race Fuels, that will boast a
comprehensive day’s racing on one of the UK’s longest established and most challenging tracks.
It is a venue that is steeped in history with the Norwich Viking Motorcycle Club
involved in organising motorcycle events on or around the ‘hill’ since 1936.
Originally the venue was used for hill climbs, but after the second world war
they ran what were known as mountain grasstracks until the circuit became too
rough and from 1949 onwards they switched to scrambles – which of course we
all know today as motocross.
During the war Cadders Hill was used for training dispatch riders, and members
of the Home Guard; a fact that was reinforced when pre-event preparation for
the 2011 season had to be halted when a 360º excavator unearthed a suspicious
object. Further investigation led to the police being called, and they in turn
called out the bomb disposal team from Colchester. After thorough inspection,
which included an X-Ray of the offending item, it was declared to be a second
world war practice mortar bomb filled with cement!
Image Rich Media
Lyng was one of the venues for the BBC Grandstand Television Trophy scrambles in the late 60s; and there have been rounds
of the British Championship here for over 30 years.
Cadders Hill is a natural hillside circuit, primarily sand based, without too many man made obstacles. It is nonetheless
spectacular, and becomes more physically demanding as the track cuts up which really sorts out those who can, and those who
think they can!
@Norwichvikings @Norwichvikingsmx www.norwichvikings.co.uk

Looking back just 12 months Lyng hosted one of the first outdoor sporting events in the UK to be allowed up to 4,000
spectators after the initial relaxation of some of the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. This combined with a Wild Card
appearance of World Champion Jeffrey Herlings on the factory Red Bull KTM saw a bumper crowd witness a fantastic day’s
racing. The MX1 races proved to be thrillers, with Herlings, and fellow GP rider Ben Watson on the Monster Energy Yamaha
going head to head, and enjoying a win apiece with the Dutchman getting the overall verdict due to his victory in the second
moto.
Conrad Mewse completely dominated the MX2 class with pole position and two gate to flag wins on the Hitachi KTM as he set
up an impressive season that saw him take the British Title. For this season he will race in the newly set up Stebbings Car
Superstore KTM UK Powered by Bikesure squad, in both Domestic and World Championship campaigns. The new presence in
the paddock has been put together by Stebbings MD Anthony Skerry, and coincides with the tenth anniversary of Stebbings
sponsorship of the Cadders Hill circuit.
WHEN I WAS KID, I ALWAYS LOVED BIKES BUT DIDN’T HAVE THE MONEY TO GET INTO IT PROPERLY,
SO BOXING WAS MY THING AS THIS WAS LOW COST AND I GOT PRETTY GOOD AT IT, TO BE HONEST.
AROUND THE AGE OF 17 I GOT CAUGHT UP WITH SOME BAD HABITS AND WAS A PAIN IN THE... ASS
AND GETTING INTO TO TROUBLE MOST OF THE TIME.
WHEN I FINALLY SORTED MYSELF OUT, I WAS ABOUT 30, I THREW MYSELF IN SCAFFOLDING AND
STARTED MY BUSINESS THAT WENT FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH OVER THE NEXT 10 YEARS.
THIS GAVE ME THE FUNDS TO START RACING AND MOTOCROSS BECAME MY NEW DRUG AND SAVED.
LOOKING AROUND
THE SPORT, I COULD
SEE THAT THERE WERE
SOME TALENTED RIDERS
THAT NEEDED HELP AND I WAS
IN A FINANCIAL POSITION TO HELP
THEM, SO I DID AND THAT THEN LEAD
ME TO RUNNING MY OWN TEAM AND FOR
THE BEST PART, IT’S THE BOLLOCKS.
I LOVE IT. I HAVE MET GREAT PEOPLE WITH THE
SAME PASSION AS ME, RIDERS, MECHANIC,
INDUSTRY PEOPLE AND WEEKEND WARRIORS
LIKE MYSELF.

N
I DIDN’T HAVE ANY GOALS AT FIRST WHEN I SET THE
TEAM UP, I JUST WANTED TO HELP RIDERS AND PUT ON
A GOOD SHOW FOR THE PEOPLE THAT SUPPORT THE
TEAM.
THE FUTURE OF THE TEAM ALL DEPENDS ON ME HAVING
THE FUNDS TO SUPPORT IT AND ME KEEPING THE
INDUSTRY AND NON-INDUSTRY SUPPORT THAT WE
HAVE. WE ARE ONE OF THE BEST UK SUPPORTED TEAMS
OUT THERE AND IF WE KEEP DOING A GOOD JOB, I HOPE
THAT IT WILL LAST. MATT WALKER, FROM KTM UK, HAS
BEEN AMAZING WITH THEIR SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE,
GAS GAS BIKES AND MATERIAL IS SECOND TO NONE, CI
SPORT, TLD ASTAR, RENTHAL, REKLUSE, PERLLIE AND
KAS SUSPENSION, JUST TO NAME A FEW, THEN OUR
NON-INDUSTRY GUYS, FOXWOOD, UNITED, TRU7,
MACDONALD FENCING AND AMV.
CURRENTLY MY DAILY TEAM WORK IS; BUILDING OUR
NEW WORKSHOPS, OVERSEEING THE BOYS IN THE
WORKSHOP AND THE RIDERS AND GENERALLY GETTING
IN THE WAY. MY STAFF ARE SO GOOD THEY CAN BE LEFT
TO IT MOST OF THE TIME. ALSO, WITH BOBBY BEING
OUT WE ARE NOT TRAVELING TO EUROPE MOST
WEEKENDS AND WE ARE USING THAT TIME TO
CONCENTRATE ON THE NEW WORKSHOPS AND THE UK
RACES PLUS MAKING PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR.
IN MY OPINION THE CURRENT CROP OF UK YOUTH
RIDERS NEEDS MORE HELP TO COME THROUGH AS THE
TALENT POOL ISN’T AS DEEP. THAT ISN’T TO SAY
WITHOUT THE RIGHT HELP THEY CAN’T PROGRESS.
IT WOULD BE GREAT TO THINK THAT WE AS A TEAM CAN
HELP SOME OF THESE KIDS TO PROGRESS TO EUROPEAN
AND THEN HOPEFULLY MXGP.
IT WAS A REAL BUZZ TO SEE BOBBY PROGRESS THE LAST
COUPLE OF YEARS AND WE WANT TO CONTINUE THAT
INTO 2023.
