AMBASADA REGATULUI BELGIEI EMBASSY OF THE KINGDOM OF BELGIUM Bd. Dacia 58 - 020061 Bucharest tel: 0040 21 210 29 69 - e-mail: ambabuc@clicknet.ro BUSINESS NEWSLETTER Year I – N° 02/12 # 28 February 2011 The 9 th of March 2012 is an auspicious date, related for once not to Romania but to Moldova. On that point of time Belgium and Moldova will celebrate the 20 th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations. To mark this historical moment, a Belgian Day will be organized in Chişinău covering a wide range of activities. A high-level concert in the evening will be the organ-point of the day. The National Orchestra of Moldova will sound out classical music, conducted by Belgian Minister of State Willy Claes and assisted by Belgian violin solist Marie Fraschini. Another anniversary which will mark the pace in 2012 is 10 years of presence of the representation in Bucharest of the Délégation de la Communauté Française de Belgique with Olivier Gillet, Daniel Sotiaux and Fabienne Reuter as successive managers. Throughout the year initiatives will be developed in Bucharest, Cluj, Timişoara, Sibiu, Iaşi and other places. Beginning of March the kick off is given with the launching for Romania of the movie “Le gamin au vélo” in presence of producers Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne. No festivities for Connectronics Oradea at the occasion of their 9th anniversary of activities in Romania although there are good reasons for. With new and larger contracts in 2012 the investment in Bihor province is doing very well, in particular in job creation. With its constant growth, Connectronics became after 9 years one of the Belgian companies with the largest staff in Romania. Good success also for AWEX in its participation in Romenvirotec 2012. A large delegation of companies from Wallonia specialized in environmental products and services will show in Bucharest its know-how in the latest environmental technologies. In the food sector, Delifood is importing Belgian’s finest pâtés and is glad to share its catalogue with us and give some discount which is promised also to the members of BEROBA. Notwithstanding constant efforts to get the documents ready for the start up of BEROBA by the 15 th of March, further labor is needed meaning that the launching of our business association is to be postponed to 19 th of April. I was told that it is surely the last round. Last round also for my Romanian colleague Ovidiu Dranga who will quit his duty as Romanian Ambassador to Belgium, taking the charge of special representative for Black Sea matters, before returning to Bucharest. Thank you Ovidiu and all the best. Philippe Beke Ambassador of Belgium AWEX solid waste management seminar eye catcher at ROMENVIROTEC 2012 The 2012 edition of the specialized environmental fair ROMENVIROTEC (www.romenvirotec.ro) is organized from 28.02 till 02.03 at ROMEXPO Bucharest. For this 19 th edition, the Walloon export promotion organization AWEX, through its Economic and Trade Office in Bucharest has confirmed its participation with 13 specialists in environmental products and services which will share a common stand. In collaboration with the VAL + Cluster, AWEX schedules the organization of a seminar on management of solid waste for the 1 st of March in presence of Deputy Minister of Environment Cristian Apostol.
