The Equestrian Program is for all riding levels and includes year-round competitive and recreational

instruction. Our Instructional focus emphasizes safety, proper equitation, and effective application of

rider’s aids. Hunt seat equitation, jumping, basic dressage, and principles of cross country jumping are

all part of our instructional focus. Student-athletes are offered multiple shows per month on local and

national levels. The Equestrian Team competes at Hunter/Jumper shows, Open Breed Shows, Dressage,

and Three Day Eventing.

Students are taught in group style lessons. Ride times are determined by rider’s age, type of lesson, and

ability. Upper School team riders practice in the mornings during first and second period. Middle and

Lower school team riders practice after school three days a week. Team riders can expect to compete

three times per semester.

Being a part of the team is not required, riders who choose to ride for recreation are welcome. Lessons

are offered Monday - Thursday from 3 -5:30 p.m. and on Friday by special appointment.

Riders may take lessons on MVA owned “school masters” or bring their own horse for boarding/training.

Full boarding for horses cost $800 per month, no partial board available.
