HEADING INTO
Round four of the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship Fuelled by Gulf Race Fuels sees us head to the famous Canada
Heights Circuit. Canada Heights motocross track based in Swanley, Kent, has been used by the Sidcup and District
Motorcycle club since 1938. The course acquired its name during the 1914-18 War when a large contingent of Canadian
troops were camped there on the high ground. The track has been host to countless events over the years and is a fan
favourite due to the circuits demanding layout. The layout brings out the best in motocross riders with its fast-flowing
nature, numerous tabletop jumps and blind crests, these attributes provide fantastic racing. At this round we will see 5
classes in action, we will see the 85BW, 125cc, 250cc, MX2 and MX1 classes all competing for Championship points.
The 85BW class has been a tale of 3 men at the front so far this
season. Billy Askew, Jake Walker and Josh Vail have been on the
podium at every round. Billy Askew extended his Championship
lead at Lyng taking both moto wins for the overall, he now sits
on 312 points, 15 ahead of Jake Walker. Jake had a steadier round
at Lyng, taking two 2nd place finishes granting him 2nd overall
on the sandy terrain. Jake will be hoping to replicate the
weekend he had at Foxhill for this round to make a dent on
Askew’s points lead. Josh Vail has finished 3rd at every round so
far this season, he will be hoping the Canada Heights circuit
suits his riding style to mix it at the front.

Charlie Heyman sits at the top of the Championship standings in
the 125cc class after an excellent start to his season. Charlie
finished 2nd overall at Lyng and has a 17-point advantage in the
Championship over Ollie Colmer. Ollie Colmer took a moto win at
Lyng in the first race and looked like he had the speed to have a
perfect day, however problems in race two meant the GRT
Impact KTM rider could only manage 3rd overall. Ollie will be
looking to trim Heyman’s points lead this time out. Cole
Mccullough was the star of the show at Lyng taking the overall
win through two brilliant rides which puts him 3rd in points, 1
point ahead of Kasimir Hinderson. Cole seems to have found his
feet on the 125cc machine and will take a lot of confidence from
the win, keep an eye on him.

Round four sees the return of the 250cc youth class. Tyler Westcott leads the Championship on 137 points in this category
and looks to be in control after winning both overalls. Westcott has a 22-point advantage on Jac Taylor who sits second.
Taylor has shown good speed at the first two rounds and will be looking to take the fight to Westcott. Travis Steels sits 3rd
in points and was a Championship contender but has been called up to MX2 to compete for the TALK Templant KTM team
and therefor will no longer contest this class. This means GRT Impact KTM rider, Finley Evans looks to inherit 3rd spot in
the Championship.

CANADA HEIGHTS
The MX2 class hasn’t been short of drama so far this season and
to add to it, before Lyng, Revo Seven Kawasaki announced Dylan
Walsh would be stepping back from the MX1 class back to MX2.
This had people excited as another extremely talented rider was
thrown into the battle at the front of this hotly contested class.
Conrad Mewse decided to stay back from the MXGP and continue
to pursue another British title. In doing so Conrad rode perfect and
went 1-1 at Lyng taking the Championship lead back from title rival
Isak Gifting. Gifting and his team decided they were attending the
GP and therefor did not contest Lyng dropping him to 4th in
points, 49 back from Mewse. Dylan Walsh was second on his
return ride to the MX2 class after a problematic weekend with
mechanical issues and little bike time. He will be one to watch at
Canada Heights. Jamie Law sits 2nd in points and had a fantastic
weekend at Lyng on his 250 2 stroke Apico Husqvarna taking
home 3rd overall. Jamie Carpenter currently lays 3rd in points
after a tricky weekend at round 3, he will be looking for a repeat

of Foxhill at round 4 and therefore will be one to watch.
The story so far in the MX1 class has been a little like the story
of the 2021 season, Tommy Searle and Harri Kullas have been
fighting it out at the front. Tommy currently leads the
Championship on 142 points, 14 ahead of Kullas who sits in
second. The story was no different at Lyng as yet again they
both fought for the overall, they traded race wins but with the
better second moto result Searle took the overall and Kullas
came home with 2nd. As they traded moto wins, they earned
the same number of points meaning the difference between
them in the Championship them stayed the same. Its anyone’s
guess who will come out on top at Canada Heights. Shaun
Simpson lays 3rd in points, 34 off the lead, Simpson has been
vocal about his respiratory issues he has faced in this early part
of the season but has been consistent and has kept himself in
the title fight in the hope that when he’s 100 percent he can win
some races. Josh Gilbert is 4th in the Championship and is 4
points adrift from Simpson, Josh has shown great speed in the
early part of the year and will be looking to make a statement
at Canada Heights.

My role as team manager is to make sure everyone is happy under the awning, you definitely get better
results from your riders if they are feeling they belong on the team, making sure the race truck is ready
and stocked with everything we could potentially need on a race weekend, Chris helps out massively on
that front
A race weekend consists of leaving work normally
Friday lunchtime depending on where the meeting
is , we then collect Craig on route who is petar’s
mechanic, many stops in motorway service
stations , setting up the awning and hospitality
area for riders and sponsors.
A normal day for me running my business and a
team can be quite stressful especially before the
season starts, organising all the products required
and this season has been extremely challenging.
Riders on my team have to have a desire to go out
and give 100% , that’s what I want from my riders ,
it’s not all about winning but it’s good when it
happens for sure ,
I’m quite fussy who I have on my team because
you need a good feeling under the awning where
we all get on
My background in motocross goes back to
when I was 10 and wanted to race but my
parents couldn’t afford for me to go , so when
I turned 21 I had saved up enough money to
buy my first bike which was a gagiva 125 , I
raced the local southwest amca series before
going ACU and retired from racing at 40 , once
motocross is in your blood it’s hard to leave
the sport.
Since my business Phoenix tools was formed
in 1996 I’ve always supported riders at some
level running with my graphics and have been
running a team at British championship level
for nearly 15 years now , over those years I’ve
had some great riders
