<strong>EVS</strong> <strong>Hydrogen</strong> is an innovative engineering Team developing new engine and<br />
control technology based in Untergriesbach near Passau.<br />
With many years of experience in design and manufacturing of mechanics,<br />
electronics, hardware & software, we have set ourselves the goal to develop an zeroemission<br />
technology. Our solution is similar<br />
to the existing technology of the automotive<br />
industry, but relies on the sustainable energy<br />
carrier hydrogen.<br />
Years of research and development of<br />
hydrogen combustion engine technology have<br />
resulted in a versatile engine concept that can<br />
be used in all areas of modern industry.<br />

Diesel out - <strong>Hydrogen</strong> in<br />
The current climate protection goals call for<br />
the complete reduction of carbon<br />
dioxide emissions in the automotive industry<br />
by 2050. It requires the creation of<br />
forward-looking cooperation between politics<br />
and industry in order to sustainably reduce<br />
emissions of CO2 and other toxic<br />
substances.<br />
Due to the large fields of application, it<br />
cannot be estimated at this time whether the<br />
ambitious targets can be achieved with<br />
battery-powered vehicles.<br />
However automotive power trains are going<br />
to be completely changed in the next years.<br />
The development of battery electric or fuel<br />
cell drives is the highest target.<br />
So far the construction industry has mostly<br />
used the same basic engine technology as<br />
the automobile industry, as the development<br />
was based on the automotive industry.<br />
Without out this lead in technology and<br />
development the construction machine<br />
industry faces major challenges in achieving<br />
the strict climate protection goals because<br />
they are forced to rethink or adapt their<br />
entire power system. To achieve this within a<br />
good cost-benefit ratio is very difficult due to<br />
the broad application range.<br />
A solution is therefore being sought that<br />
will continue to use the existing power unit<br />
concept of the combustion engine, but will<br />
still enable emission-free operation without<br />
restrictions.<br />
The only solution for this is <strong>Hydrogen</strong>.<br />
<strong>Hydrogen</strong> will be an indispensable<br />
component for a successful energy<br />
and train revolution transition.<br />

Technology<br />
Simple, rugged, proven<br />
The <strong>EVS</strong> | <strong>Hydrogen</strong> believes that it is important<br />
for industrial propulsion techniques to<br />
use technology that is very similar to existing<br />
solutions. New - emission-free - engine technology<br />
must be able to be fully integrated<br />
into existing drive systems.<br />
However, <strong>EVS</strong> <strong>Hydrogen</strong> does not use a<br />
reciprocating piston principle for the zeroemission<br />
combustion of hydrogen. Instead, a<br />
rotating motor principle is used, which offers<br />
many advantages compared to the<br />
reciprocating principle.<br />
• Rotary engine: fundamental problems of the hydrogen<br />
operation with reciprocating piston engine are avoided<br />
• Ideal for use in the construction industry due to the<br />
rugged and simple design<br />
• Hybrid design: electric motor and combustion engine<br />
form a unit to enable easy integration into modern<br />
electrified applications<br />

Our goal with this engine is to create an<br />
emission free, future oriented power unit.<br />
To do this we’re creating an easily<br />
retrofittable or integrable engine powered<br />
by hydrogen for all areas of modern industry.<br />
The advantage: torque-controlled operation<br />
as a conventional diesel engine is possible<br />
at any time.<br />
The use of our hydrogen engine also works<br />
in engine applications in which the operation<br />
of fuel cells makes no sense.<br />

Our hydrogen engine is the direct replacement<br />
for diesel engines in the area of off-road<br />
drive systems - for example in the area of<br />
construction machinery or in CO2-sensitive<br />
urban areas.<br />
Our engine is ideal for use as a hydrogen<br />
powered mobile charger for battery electric<br />
drive systems as a so-called range extender.<br />

As a recovery drive for electricity and heat<br />
from hydrogen storage systems, our engine is<br />
ideally suited in a wide variety of scales.<br />

Construction Machines<br />
• <strong>Hydrogen</strong> combustion solves the fuel cell<br />
problem due to the lower requirements on purity<br />
for air and hydrogen especially beneficial<br />
in off-road applications.<br />
• Due to the independence from the charging<br />
structure, the use of hydrogen technology<br />
offers great advantages in terms of independence<br />
compared to battery-electric drives in<br />
the off-road area.<br />

• There are applications in which battery-electric<br />

however, the long service life of the batteries<br />
and maintenance costs are major issues. The<br />
range extender application with hydrogen can<br />
reduce battery capacities and thus save costs.<br />
