n accordance with the current flow and with the guidelines amended by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management

of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), Trinity University of Asia eyes to gradually transition to limited face-to-face

classes for the school year 2022-2023. This was done through online surveys and orientations as part of ensuring proper

processes to be taken and as well as attend to concerns given that the safety of everyone is taken into consideration.

Survey forms were distributed for the faculty, parents or

guardians, and students to assess their response towards

the situation. The survey form consists of different items

including an individual’s vaccination status and their

preference in terms of the mode of learning delivery.

An orientation highlighting the guidelines for the

implementation of the said plan also took place last May

21, 2022 via Zoom.

"This is an essential part of the process to establish

knowledge in regards with a successful and smooth

execution if the plan pushes through," Julius Somera, TUA-

HS Principal.

As the new normal starts to develop and establish

discovered grounds to adapt, schools and universities are

also implementing necessary adjustments for the safety

and wellbeing of everyone.

Despite the changing shifts in the number of Corona Virus

Disease (COVID-19) cases, education is a very important

aspect to focus on as well. In this case, the surveys and

orientations being conducted greatly help the institution

hear the stand of its community regarding the

implementation of progressive and limited face-to-face

classes. The essentiality of a quality education together

with a safe environment for everyone are one of TUA’s

objectives in response to the transitions that the virus

continuously brings.

TUA-HS GEARS UP FOR

FINAL RESEARCH

DEFENSE

By Charisse Delgado and Althea Alvarado

Trinity University of Asia - High School prepared its

students for the Final Oral Defense held on May 20-27, 2022

via Google Meet. Different academic strands showed

exemplary performance upon defending their research

titles. It has been a year since students have been

conducting their research online due to the pandemic.

12STEM2 held the panel’s attention due to the relevance in

today’s society and the good foundations of their output that

led them to the award of having the Best Research

Presentation for this academic year.

As Ms. Jennifer Paule highlighted, despite its complexity,

research has paved the way for discovering the unknown

and has brought such advancements that are considered as

a necessity in this generation. The symposium and series of

defense has brought out the potential of students in

answering real-world problems, especially the ones which

are prominent and are greatly affecting the daily lives of

those who are involved in it.

Mr. Carl Jason Talan, Dr. Ernesto Framo, and Ms. Virginia

Fernandez were this year’s panelists for the STEM strand.

For the ABM strand, Dr. Agnes Ferrer, Ms. Normina Aglibut,

and Mr. Mark Marfal were the panelists, then Mr. Ian

Galman, Ms. Rosary Ann Quiling, and Dr. Agnes Ferrer were

for the HUMSS strand.

OVERCOMING ADVERSITIES IN THIS YEAR’S YOUTH TALK SERIES

T

By Althea Alvarado, Champaine Lagrimas, Joey Garcia, and Dianne Cardano

rinity University of Asia - High School held its second and third Youth Talk Series on March 12, 2022 and on April 30, 2022,

via Zoom & Facebook live. They were made possible by the partnership of the Trinitian Community Development Section,

Project DREAM, as well as the entirety of the TUA-High School Community. The sessions have set their focal points on

upholding self assessment and highlighting the importance of passion despite the adversities present along the way.

The second session titled "Spiritual Nurturance: Connect, Reflect, and Act Now! Ay Mali Pala? Mga Maling Paniniwala, Ating

Itama” tackled restoring one’s creativity and how an individual views him or herself. According to the session’s speaker, Pastor

Immanuel Joseph A. Tupe, creativity means acquiring ideas and making them all new. He focused on eliminating dead-end

statements like “I am useless,” and “I have no time,” along with an assurance that creativity fosters within if we are willing to

undergo the process progressively. Instead of focusing on what we cannot control and what we do not have, Pastor Tupe

emphasized that there are still things we can do with what we have in our own hands.

Moreover, breakout sessions followed by an icebreaker commenced after the message was conveyed. To officially end the

second session of the Youth Talk Series, Ms. Caroline Balmes, the head of the Trinitian Community Development Section,

expressed her closing remarks.

On the other hand, the "Youth Talk Series 3: Passion Mo, Push Mo!" left a mark on its viewers as it reminded them of the

importance of nurturing their interests, motivations, and hobbies. Mr. Julius D. Somera marked the commencement of the event

as he delivered his opening remarks. Ms. Normina Aglibut also pointed out the essence of the session—being passionate in spite

of the struggles being anchored with it.

The first speaker of the session, Mr. Reinald Mendez, has provided tips based on his experience as a Content Creator on TikTok,

in becoming resourceful enough to support the need of your passion. Moreover, he highlighted the importance of offering your

best efforts to fulfill what you truly love to do. The second speaker, Ms. Rubielyn Bucad, one of TUA's faculty members, featured

the value of digital marketing especially in the middle of the pandemic. She discussed simple ways of attaining good promotion

for businesses by means of creative applications such as Canva and social media postings in different platforms like Facebook

and Instagram.

As the second and third sessions mark their victorious mission to the entirety of Trinitian community, both left an impactful

reminder to their viewers, especially to the students. Along with step-by-step processes and little achievements to celebrate, it

will eventually flourish to accompany one’s journey in life. With this, the specified sessions of the Youth Talk Series created

grounds for the viewers to assess themselves towards more successful and meaningful ventures.

OF THE MONTH

PURSUING WITH ENTHUSIASM:

REINALD MENDEZ

A STORY OF SUCCESS

By Kjah Young and El Malacad

With the passion that he has and the determination Content creator’s block cannot be avoided but to help

that comes with it, Mr. Reinald Mendez, a graduate of ourselves overcome this, Mr. Mendez gets his

TUA-SHS, has found his calling: sharing what he loves inspiration from different social media platforms like

through the Internet, helping and inspiring others to Facebook, including Youtube. To avoid copying and for a

push for their passions.

more original feel, he tries and finds a way to upgrade

The Overview

Just as a project plan starts, the overview introduces and

describes the project, its goals, and expected outcomes.

Mr. Reinald Mendez, a content creator on the social

platform TikTok, gives and shares his passion for doing

DIY, or do-it-yourself room decorations to give your rooms

that aesthetic flair. With the content of his videos,

including good Shopee finds and products that he has

bought and deemed worth buying, he is now an

ambassador for the famous online shopping site and was

contacted in May 2021.

Solely with his passion, the support from his family, and a

non-expectant attitude, just doing what he loves and

creating to his heart's content, he has garnered over 46k

followers, 706k likes, and 12m views on TikTok.

With an overview being an introduction, this is the

overview of Mr. Mendez’s current life. It focuses on his

passion for doing things that have made and continue to

make him happy, affecting his viewers and spreading joy

and happiness through his decoration ideas and valuable

finds.

The Sketch

After being done with the overview, a project continues to

its sketch. A sketch is a rough draft often made to assist in

creating a more finished picture. Before becoming the

TikTok content creator that he is today, Mr. Reinald

Mendez had already become attached to the idea of making

content and sharing it through social media platforms. With

his eagerness and enthusiasm, even going to great lengths,

he does not care about the exhaustion and continues to

upload on his YouTube channel that he started when he

was 14 years old during the year of 2016. Unfortunately,

due to the hustle and bustle of schoolwork and daily life, he

could not continue vlogging.

A sketch is filled with ideas, pencil markings, and erasures.

At times, with erasures symbolizing negative comments on

Mr. Mendez's videos, he may be affected, but this does not

stop him from thriving and using these mistakes to improve

himself and do more of his best, which can be seen in the

meticulous and aesthetic videos he makes.

With most sketches being inspired by different aspects of

life that we encounter, sometimes we may also be losing

creative juices that fire us to sketch and make our ideas

come to life. We cannot always avoid some mishaps such as

having writer’s block or in Mr. Mendez’s case, content

creator’s block.

the creations that he sees and uses them for his videos.

The Journey

“Know your niche.” was the first tip Mr. Reinald Mendez

gave. He used to think that because he didn't like to

dance or sing, he should share his talent with the world

by decorating rooms. He did that, and his parents are

still supporting him as he continues to follow his dream.

"Time Management." Just like any other normal student,

he has numerous obligations, and this advice is one of

his most efficient habits: before he goes to sleep, he

prepares the tasks he will do the next day and creates a

timetable. Even if you are not a content creator, time

management is essential since the day passes quickly.

Time management also boosts productivity and with

this, Mr. Mendez advises us that when we are tired, we

should not think of that, instead, let us remind ourselves

why we are doing this and find our own motivations to

do our very best.

“Get Organized.” He keeps his school and group projects

in different notebooks. It's essential to get organized.

Also, it lets you focus on what you need to do that day

instead of being distracted by other things. You can go

to sleep first at night and feel good knowing that it's

done.

“Be Creative.” It's challenging to produce a completely

random video while you're constructing anything, so use

your imagination. To be taken seriously, you must stand

out from the crowd.

“Consistency is Another Must.” This attribute is beneficial

since he used to vlog but grew too busy with other things

to keep up with it, but after graduating, he was able to

keep up with it and govern his own time.

“Finally, give it your all and have fun.” Never forget to

put out your utmost effort at all times. Your video creation

may not please everyone, but all you can do is do your

best and have fun with it. Don't force yourself to do it if

you don't like something. Instead, do what makes you

happy.

Though the process and journey of Mr. Mendez’s current

life seems fun, he too has also felt drained and nowadays

having only 2-3 hours of sleep. To bounce back from this,

he stops and rethink his decisions, is he happy? Is this

what he truly wants? What could be the consequences?

With these questions that linger throughout his thought

process, he asks help from his family and friends.

6 Feature

Passion comes hand-in-hand with motivation as with

motivation, you get the energy, the encouragement, and

the determination to do your passion. Aside from the

money he earns and his enjoyment in the things that he is

currently doing, Mr. Mendez also gets his motivation from

the likes and views he gets from every video no matter

how small the number.

“PEOPLE WITH GREAT PASSION CAN MAKE THE IMPOSSIBLE

HAPPEN.”

The Finishing

“WHEN YOU DO WHAT YOU LOVE WITH PASSION,

SUCCESS WON’T BE FAR AWAY.”

When he did what he loved, he didn't realize that he was

also generating money. He'd simply post random videos

on the internet in the past, but now it seems like he's

working with sponsors and promoting their products. He

had no idea he could make so much money from posting.

He didn't really expect to make anything from doing what

he loved, so the fact that he did is a very major matter.

Now that he has the money he needs, he can purchase

everything he wants without asking his parents for

financial support. As long as you are making the most of

the situation and having fun, there is no impossible task.

People with great passion, enthusiasm, and determination

have their own moving and encouraging factors that make

them do the things they want with happiness. Mr. Mendez

is inspired and is grateful to his family for the unlimited

support that they have given him ever since the day he

has decided to be what he is right now.

As the finishing process ends a project, the feedback and

love that Mr. Mendez receives from his followers and

audience makes him happy as he feels that through this

support, he becomes more encouraged to make content,

and to share his passion to the world.

POV of A Heartbroken

BY BEANIE

Fly Me To The Moon

BY BEANIE

ILLUSTRATED BY: EMILIO TAGUDIN

I’m writing this poem to you

That in the future, you may view.

I'm in the process of healing,

While you are with your new girl now to deal with.

I wonder how you moved on so fast,

while I'm doing something interesting for time to pass.

My heart dwells in your embrace,

my soul dwells in your presence;

but my mind is telling you are the worst.

You are a slave of your own lies.

While the truth is already in front,

you just have to follow it to be wise.

ILLUSTRATED BY: ANZEL SAKAMOTO

She looks at the moon along with the stars,

in the night, in a cold breeze, alone.

A man came into her life, and she gladly accepted it.

Their love reached the moon, and watched how the stars

twinkle.

The man told her, "I’ll give you this music box because you love

the moon so much".

On the cover of the music box, it was written: "Fly Me To The

Moon".

She played the music box every time she felt loved, stressed,

and hopeless.

However, life is so cruel.

In the end, she sits on the same spot,

without her lover, watching the moon along with the stars, while

the music box is playing.

Silently, she whispers "Thank you, love".

My Moonlight

BY BEANIE

You know I like the moon so much.

After we parted ways, I couldn't look at the moon with

love.

As the moon shines brightly at night,

my heart is now surrounded by darkness.

Because I remembered that you know

how I love the moon so much.

Bitterness and agony throbs in my heart.

Day by day, their cries reached my ear.

As a result, my head suffers:

My heart misses your embrace,

my soul wants your presence,

but my mind stands firmly on its decision.

I use my emotions to create art:

A poem that is filled with anger,

sketch filled with suffering,

and a sculpt filled with brokenness.

As time passed, I decided I wanted to love myself more,

more than I have loved myself before.

The pain you've given me has awakened me–

Made me believe it is a choice, and not because of the

absence you caused.

and to be aware.

She shares because of the world:

They toy what love is,

8 Apple of the Eye | Third Eye

As someone who considers love a long-term

commitment, love isn’t what some individuals

would think it to be. Series and Movies may

have been a cause for people who are

inexperienced in love to think that they

should constantly feel like they have

butterflies in their stomach, or whenever

things start to get boring the couple

conclude they aren’t in love with each other

anymore. That mindset is very dangerous and

could hurt another person emotionally, being

truly in love will hurt no matter what both

parties go through and it is not like the

romance we see in fiction. Both individuals

should equally give their best in

maintaining their relationship as proving

your love for another only starts after

marriage.

Banana Bro

The Odd One

Lucid-Love

Ever since the uprise of social media and mainstream media

regarding the popularity of love, it has raised many

misconceptions and false expectations when someone thinks or

dreams about love. When it comes to dating and love in general, I

strongly believe in the concept of “Dating to Marry”. Nowadays,

despite it not being wrong in my opinion, people tend to rely on

too many different aspects when they think or are curious about

love. Some inexperienced people in love or who want to fall in

love, tend to rely on Drama Series’ and Movies, some rely on

Written Fanfiction, others may try Astrology and Zodiac Signs.

These tend to cause a false sense of misconception regarding

love, it could also lead to other toxic flags such as putting people

on a pedestal and expecting too much from them, falling in love

with someone just to meet the following trend or status quo etc,

not treating one’s partner equally after a few months of dating

due to entering a relationship without getting to know each other

more properly and so much more. Hence, I believe that if

someone wants to date, they really need to get and

understand that person through all the way, from ups and

downs, from trials and graces etc. To stay strong and be

with each other if you really love someone, to show equal

efforts and equal understanding, to compromise right and

to love wholeheartedly. Remember “Communication is Key,

but Comprehension is the Main Goal''.

"Date to marry", a motto that's been circulating our feed as

an issue of love comes by. For others, it is a rule that must

be followed for one to say that they are committed enough.

However, it does not go the same as to how I think of love.

When I'm dating, I do not assume that the person I am

with, will be the person I will marry in the future. I would

rather think of it as a process to know if he is worthy of

that promise. Honestly, it was not long ago before I

realized that dating should not be a cage as if you caught a

bird. It should be a safe space to get to know each other

and to decipher whether the both of you would get a long in

all sorts of good and bad. Of course, dating must be taken

seriously, but it should not be a dead end. I see it as a path

with two lanes: one which endures, and one that is freeing.

Why Do Leaves

Fall Off Trees?

Why do leaves fall off trees?

Before you stop reading

because of the absurd question,

hear me out. We, humans, are

like trees; planted on a surface

called Earth. In this confining

ground, we are destined to

grow, blossom, and prosper. We

FLOW

Emilio Tagudin

possess roots, stems, branches, leaves, and fruits. In

short, we are abundant. However, the surface that

restrains us contains strong winds and calamities

that may hinder us from blooming and causes our

fruits to rot inside. From this, we have come to

realize that we've been sown only to be reaped.

That is why we have to bear good fruits: so that we may

give fulfillment to those who reap us. No matter how

much it rains, we will always see a rainbow afterward. No

matter how bright the sunlight is, if we look the other

way, we may see how bright tomorrow is. In simpler

terms, no matter how rotten we are inside, no matter how

much sin we have committed, if we change our ways and

hold on for a little longer, we will prosper into a beautiful

and imperishable tree.

So why do leaves fall off trees? It is for the same reason

why people change: to sustain and grow. If the past

leaves remain attached in branches, trees would not know

how to create new ones. If trees do not experience strong

winds that may snap their branches or heavy rains that

can uproot them, they will not apprehend their purpose to

strengthen themselves.

Just like our lives, if we don't let go of our past memories,

we can't make new memories. If we do not face our

problems and challenges, we could not fixate ourselves on

improving and becoming better than yesterday.

this?’’ I often ask myself, I was that student that

was always complete, submits earlier than

expected with a maintaining grade expected to

be higher than 90. It is my responsibility as a

daughter and as a student to study hard, and

make every one proud of me. But sometimes the

responsibilities are undeniably unbearable to

carry around.

During those stressful times, the expectations of

people get higher, sometimes I get why some smart

students would often be lazy in doing their task,

because mentally, emotionally and physically, it’s

tiring. School is fun and exciting however, as soon as

you give out your talents and show what your

capabilities are to the world, everyone will expect

more and more from you, not even thinking about

your health. Due this, coffee has been my bestfriend,

coffee has been the drug I am constantly intoxicated

with during sleepless and tiring nights of constant

studying trying so hard to make everyone happy. But

you know what? For my 17 years of existence in this

world, I just felt drained and unhappy even when I

should be, and that’s when I realized that you cannot

please everyone. So, however you are reading this,

take a break, it’s never bad to relax and unwind once

in a while, you're not gonna miss out on anything,

always remember your health too, it is what matters.

“What do you want to

be when you grow up?”

— When I was just in

preschool, my teacher

would always ask about

my dream. With joy and

excitement, my response

was to become like her,

a teacher, so that I can

help others draw shapes

and fill coloring books

just like how she does.

My friends and family

seemed so happy about it and that made me want

to grow up a little bit faster.

In grade school, I had numerous opportunities to

discover that I didn’t have what it takes to be a

teacher. Going to different places and seeing

different faces made me want to travel the world and

witness each country's beauty. I wanted to have a

glimpse of how fluffy the clouds look like in plane

rides. My mother would always tell me to bring her to

Japan someday because she has always dreamt of

experiencing a white Christmas. I wanted to give her

that. Since then, when my teacher would ask us to

introduce ourselves to the class, I would say that I

want to become a flight attendant instead. My

teachers have always cheered me up. They say that

it suits me and that made me want to pursue it even

more.

Then, time flies. Remember how I said that I wanted

to help others fill their coloring book in preschool?

That aspiration recurred in Junior High School but in

a different way. I have found out that my heart

belongs to artistry. That helping others fill their

coloring books was the beginning of it all. I wanted

to encourage others to see coloring books as pieces

of art, may it be colored or not. I wanted to share

who I am solely through art. Up until this day, my

heart still belongs to the world of art. The wonders

of creativity and how it can be interpreted in endless

ways amaze me so much. I love being involved in

tasks that require one’s creative juices which made

me desire for film or multimedia arts. They say that I

have potential but risking it is not worth it.

Now, here I am with a firm decision to pursue

accountancy as a profession. Far from all the

aspirations that I had but it seems like this is where

my feet are taking me. This is a phase of decisionmaking

for most of us. Especially for us who are

last year as a high school student, pressure is present.

Sometimes, the little dreamer in us is so strong but there

are also moments wherein the reality hits us stronger. We

stare at the blank sheets of paper and think about how our

situation would be if we pursued what we really wanted in

life. We think about how the little versions of us would be

so happy if we chose to conquer our own little worlds,

making our dreams turn into reality.

I have always encountered a saying that dreaming is a

luxury that only few people can attain. Dreams do come

true and it is really a matter of decision but acknowledging

what decision to make is crucial. Having a burning passion

for something, then realizing that provision of needs in this

material world is risky — Practicality hits. There are so

many factors to consider in choosing what path to take and

it is not just about where do I want to be, but also where

do I see myself and my family thriving and surviving in life

through the years. Because in reality, it is like jumping on

a cliff, unsure if there’s a soft place to fall or none at all.

Each of us has our own version of our dreams. When we

were little, wanting to become an astronaut would be cool

for many because it is an unusual response to hear from a

kid. But as we grow up, deviating from the norm is much

harder than we all thought. This is a phase that no one

has prepared for because back then, all we knew was to

dream big, not knowing that there are certain paths that

are too rocky, and dangerous to take. This is life. After all,

if the time permits, and we are still willing to take a ride

for all our “I want to become —“, be it. Take it. Remind

yourself that there is still a little dreamer in you and you

were once filled with sweet aspirations.

It will surely be a tough battle for us all. Dreaming has its

own victories and consequences but it surely is an

unforgettable experience. The dedication to push through

or not can be a bittersweet ride. Of course, we are living

in this world and practicality really does matter. Dreams

will break and build us, all for our growth as individuals.

But if my teacher would ask me one last time regarding it?

I think I will answer differently. I would rather want to

become a dreamer who is not hindered by the fear of

reality. Someone who is filled with hope and pure

dedication despite uncertainties. Someone who is just free

to dream. Just like how I used to be when I was little.

Red Light,

2021 was a year full

of unpredictable lanes

and intersections with

their own unforeseen

destinations. Some of

the routes that we

encounter may have

been aligned to our plans or even against our

will, but the problem is that we do not know

when and how to say “yes” or “no”. These paths

may have even led you to wish for traffic lights

to know when to stop and go because I, myself,

would have built one for myself if only it was

possible for the roads of life.

It is quite easy to determine what our mind and

heart would want us to do, but it is hard to

advocate and to act according to each of them due

to consequences and conditions that are beyond our

control. We bother in finding a light when we

already have the rights to decide. It’s just that we

do not have the courage to do so because yes, it is

true that we own ourselves, but it doesn’t mean that

we can accurately vision our own future which

leads us to all sorts of fear and anxieties in every

decision we tend to make. We will never know

what’s waiting for us at the end of the lane.

A SWEEP-TEA

Feeling 2022

It feels like a perfect night -

starting a fresh year full of

positivity and opportunities. We

begin to hone the undying

differences the outbreak forced

to shut doors and tape our

voices out. I remember how

exciting New Year’s Eve was. It

Angela Sese

sure was different; no more fiestas outside, meetings

with friends… Just a simple banquet with loved ones

was enough. There was me, holding a fork with my

favourite lumpiang shanghai, waiting for the

countdown to happen. Reminding myself to jump so I

could be taller, it was a blast. Indeed, a perfect night

to rejoice in clear skies the next day.

We're happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time -

looking back, the whole situation was new and scary. I

remember being scared for my own voyage. The wasted

opportunities, moments that turned to memories, and the

word “next time,” felt like it would be the last of all.

March 2020 was probably the first wild ride we had

experienced. Two weeks of no school while walking out of

the building not knowing it would be the last. But, I went

home that day with smiles on our faces because we spent

the time with friends. Confused as to why it’s taking so

long when a new school year is officially coming closer,

and lonely from missing out the outside life I wanted to

feel as a teenager. All of those at the same time, not even

half of the year it started, but stayed for the whole 2021.

All that we want is a red and green light to help us

know when to stop and go. Sadly, it doesn’t and will

never exist even in the incoming years. We bother

in finding an answer when we already have what we

thought was destined. If you were to take a step

based on others, then it is not called “living” at all.

Unlike the typical routes that we normally see, life

does not have a map nor traffic lights to depend on.

Everything would lie on ourselves, whether to push

through, to change route, or to continue and remain

on the same lane throughout the journey amidst

every possibility of both a dead end and a new road.

It's miserable and magical - As we begin to adapt, we

bursted into our own bubbles by staying outside our

comfort zones. The new learning setup, new hobbies to

participate in, new mechanics to your favourite situations

and more. We might have felt drained at some point, but a

new beginning is always a path of light for our lives.

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22 - Ending the

countdown, moments we became sentimental into, might

have been a sign to take big steps next time. So, as the

tiger roars, let your voices and unclaimed manifests climb

to the top. Just like the song says, everything will be

alright if we just keep dancing!

11 Bukas na Mata

BUKAS NA MATA

Kumusta ang nakaraang

taon?

What were your positives last 2021 /

What are you thankful for last 2021?

Medyo maayos naman naging 2021 ko. Kakapasok ko

lang ng Senior High, so maraming naging bago sa

buhay ko. There were a lot of adjustments, and I

found na this year naging mas creative ako in terms

of yung writing and other arts ko. I actually also

came to terms with my gender identity this year, and

am learning to embrace myself despite mga flaws or

what other people might think. Marami man akong

responsibilities to shoulder in real life, I find it all

worth it naman kasi this is the path to how I mature.

A lot of things happened this year. Maraming

natutunan, maraming nakilala, maraming naranasan.

I have been thankful for this year kasi I've grown a

lot as a person, as a student, and as a friend.

Thankful ako dahil safe naman kami ng pamilya ako.

I've managed to think positively throughout the

pandemic. I was also able to acknowledge my

strengths and work on my weaknesses, which makes

me grateful and thankful for this year.

I am grateful for going through a lot! I wouldn't be

here without God, who continues to be faithful in

guiding me and giving me the strength to go through

it all. I am also grateful for my family who has

continued to be with me even in these trying times.

Though life is hard, I believe that I'll get through it,

by God's grace <3

If I were to describe the events of my 2021, it would

be "unexpected." A lot of unforeseen things

happened, such as me getting a new puppy! I also

made new friends with people I never expected to be

friends with. Overall, 2021 for me has been quite

memorable and there are clearly many things I

should be grateful for.

The start of the year was rough for me but I’m glad I

had a friend to support me.

I'll always be thankful for God's grace. The fact that I

am still here despite hard times encountered this

year is proof of His grace and goodness. I am also

thankful for the lessons I’ve learned, because they

made me a better and wiser person. I am thankful for

the people I love and the ones who love me, because

they make living more fun, fulfilling, and lovely. I am

thankful for the little things in life, for in those

things we may find the simple joys, even if they are

often overlooked.

Sa buong year ng 2021, I would say masaya siya kasi

marami akong naging memories from school. Isa sa

mga naalala kong memories is mahilig ang mga

teachers mang gulat sa klase like jumpscare.

Binawian din namin isa sa teacher namin ng one of a

kind na surprise cake! which is one of my memorable

experience this school year :)

2021 was the year I graduated from SHS. Just like

everyone, my 2021 also had ups and downs but I

believe that one day I'll look back to this year and I

know I would be happy.

2021 for me, was a year full of life lessons and

challenges. 2021 taught me how to be strong and

learn to value life, time, and health. It was a year

where the whole universe took place and faced a

pandemic. Despite these trying times of ours we still

see the goodness in it and lead a helping hand for

others in need.

It’s okay. So far so good, though I can’t help but be

worried about my schoolwork. I thought once I get

everything done, hindi na ako matatambakan pero

parami ng parami mga gawain pero kinakaya ko

naman, I hope. It’s hard to balance life. People

always say that time management would solve 99% of

my problems but here’s the thing-- not everybody

could do that and it’s not that I believe I can’t– I’m

physically and mentally unable to so all I’m doing is

waiting for Christmas Break to start.

Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga kaibigan na nakilala ko

sa taon ngayon, at nagpapasalamat ako sa mga

teachers na naging considerate sa mga gawain

naming mga estudyante.

I am thankful for the blessings that God has given

me, my friends, and my family. 2021 has been a

rollercoaster ride for all of us. Some have suffered

huge losses, and some have gained a lot of lessons.

But, because of God's guidance, we still made it

through 2022. I am also thankful that none of my

loved ones died from COVID 19, although some of

them were infected, they still managed to recover and

get back up with their daily lives.

Still being alive I guess.

2021 was a year of downs, but bounce backs. I started

2021 going through various mental breakdowns,

depressive episodes, and a load of insecurities. But

throughout the year, I learned to be kind and patient

with myself. I learned that I matter and I am worth it.

I learned that it's more than okay to put yourself

first. I learned that you won't like everyone and

everyone won't like you, so what's important is that

you like yourself. I'm thankful for these learnings

and I hope everyone does too.

Kinakaya pa naman kahit papaano.

THE FILIPINO YOUTH OF

TODAY’S GENERATION

In today's media, the Filipino youth are

being undervalued for their abilities. They are an

icon for delivering the truth to a large audience

due to their extensive platform. However, as

political issues have arisen since the 2022 National

Elections, it took a seemingly insecure approach

towards older generations—with the prowess these

youth possess in research and writing. And

throughout the campaign period, they have been

debating on the internet about who is the most

qualified presidential candidate for the

Philippines.

Media outlets have a significant impact on the

online world of delivering news, whether it's about the

climate crisis, a world war, or even a street fire. It has

become more open today because we live in a world

where technology and its evolving features continue to

thrive on people, and an increasing number of them

have access to vast amounts of information. This type of

development benefits youth in general. Their education

is one of the reasons why many of them are fascinated

with current events.

Now, we can see its effect by the impact of news

to the Filipino youth. The 6 years of the present

administration has given the way for the youth who

have outgrown the systems of bias, resentment, and

injustice. And the younger generations have learned the

value of standing up for what is right and just, as

evidenced by this year's elections, which demonstrated

how many youths are hungry for a clean and

transparent government. The problem is that we live in

a democratic country where free speech is undeniably

restricted—and it shouldn't be. Many of the youths have

been involved by the numerous red-tagging and biased

statements thrown at them. It is certainly not fair to see

devoted Filipino youth stand up for what is best only to be

thrown away as if those were not also for the sake of

everyone else. Why can't others see that cries for good

governance are not selfish, but rather demonstrate dignity

and respect for the rest of the Filipino people? How is

defending your own future wrong or one-sided? Why does

it pose such a significant threat to the upper hand?

Our voices are equally as meaningful as others,

with credible sources and history backing it up, so there

is no point in shunning down what could possibly become

the solution to this injustice we are facing. It starts with

a question, something that leaves you thinking: is it

threatening because the truth is in our hands? Because

the power that the Filipino youth possesses today, as

evidenced by campaign rallies and house-to-house

conversations, is significant, as millions have given their

time and effort to fight for their future. Even so, some

people will never understand how powerful our voices are

because the light that seemed closer went out all of a

sudden and the future starts to become a mystery.

And now as this next administration comes to

serve the country; we have nothing but to learn how to

gradually accept the reality that is ahead of us. There will

be questions that will remain unanswered, but for another

6 years is another born Filipino youth that will represent

the voice we have been shouting for years. And someday,

these voices will mark history, and will continue to

awaken the young people who hope for a brighter future.

So, do your part as a Filipino

youth. You are more than what

you think.
