Annual lunch returns
The Chemical Business Association (CBA) has welcomed its member
companies and guests to its Annual Lunch, the biggest event of its
kind in the UK’s chemical supply chain. Returning after a Covid
enforced absence and often better known as the ‘Floggers Lunch’ it
took place at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane,
London, with over 900 people in attendance including VIP’s and
dignitaries from around the world
In a change to previous years, both the previous Chair and the CEO
gave speeches along with the current CBA Chair, Kate Mingay. The
speeches all recognised that the CBA has grown to be the voice of the
UK chemical supply chain industry since it was founded almost a
century ago, and that it has been able to adapt and evolve to continue
assisting and supporting members, not least through the challenges of
recent years.
Karen Harvey, membership manager commented, “All our members
have felt the impact of multiple and significant disruptions, and whilst
these brought many challenges, they also presented opportunities and
the CBA has been instrumental in helping our members throughout
these uncertain times.”
This year’s guest speaker, Clive Anderson, gave a witty and
entertaining speech.
Clive also joined Kate to present the prestigious Responsible Care,
Community Interaction and Young Person Awards and to recognise
the winners from the last two years. Michael Cooper, the CBA’s
Responsible Care Specialist commented “It was pleasing to see that
the calibre of entries continues to be high despite the challenges of
the last few years.”
Each year, the Chair chooses a Charity to support, and this year it
was ‘Societi’, the UK Foundation for Kawasaki Disease, a very serious,
yet little known children’s illness which can lead to lifelong heart
disease. Kate Mingay commented “This is an incredibly important
charity for me having had personal experience of this disease, and I
would like to thank everyone who contributed to the collection”
Tim Doggett commented “This was my first experience of the
Annual Lunch and it more than exceeded my expectations. Thank you
to the CBA staff for making this event such a success, and I am
already looking forwards to next year when we will be celebrating our
100th anniversary”
Carlisle opens training centre
Carlisle Fluid Technologies has opened a new customer demonstration
and training centre in Bournemouth
The project to refresh the old training centre started in November
2020 with the intention to modernize its capabilities and aligning the
laboratory with the company’s newest acquired technologies.
The new Customer Demonstration and Training Center has over
300m 2 surface with two meeting rooms and six different technology
areas, containing the Carlisle Fluid Technologies’ latest products and
equipment: Robotic application of Sealants and Adhesives, Powder
application room, Liquid manual application booth, Liquid automatic
application booth with robotic atomization and multi directional
conveyor belt system leading to the BGK curing oven. Last but not
least, there is also a specific area for the newest acquired technology:
Foam insulation with the IntelliSpray system.
The demonstration areas in the centre are equipped with windows
to allow visitors safe observation of all the activities in the spray booths.
Furthermore, its Hi-tech AV system with live streaming capabilities
enables visitors to attend demonstrations and training sessions
remotely as well as in person, making it available to all collaborators
through the EMEAI region and globally. The intention behind this
investment was to help customers experience the laboratory without
the need to travel, allowing them the same benefits of upgrading and
improving their production installations.
On the 29th of September 2021 Carlisle Fluid Technologies held
the live-streamed video inauguration of the Bournemouth Customer
Demonstration and Training Center and demonstrated the AV system’s
capabilities. At the event the company presented its facilities through
six different technology workshops. The event was opened by the
European sales and marketing director, Bernard Choquel and closed
with the final word by the Carlisle Fluid Technologies President, Fred
Sutter. The workshops were presented by the company’s technology
experts. In June 2022 the company is planning an in-person
inauguration, inviting several distributors and partners with the
opportunity to network with their representatives as well as observe
demonstrations and hear all about the newest product development.
Carlisle Fluid Technologies believes this Center is essential to
demonstrate their diverse and efficient product ranges to distributors,
end users and collaborators. In addition, the center is also dedicated to
organized training sessions to continue developing and improving the
finishing community’s knowledge and expertise.
Demonstration and Training Center at our Bournemouth facility in the
