Table of Honor

The Table, with its place settings, is a way of symbolizing

the fact that members of the law enforcement

community throughout our country are missing.

The table is set for one, though the number is many.

The Chairs are empty. They can no longer join us.

The Tablecloth is white - symbolizing the purity of

their intentions to serve their communities.

The Candle is lit - symbolizing their spirit to serve.

The glass is inverted - they cannot drink nor toast

with us this day.

A slice of Lemon is on the plate to remind us of their

bitter fate.

The single Red Rose displayed in the vase is to remind

us of their families. and loved ones.

The Salt upon the plate is symbolic of their tears.

The Blue Ribbon tied so prominently on the vase reminds

us of the "Thin Blue Line" which stands strong

before those who would destroy law and order in our

great nation.

Many of you served with these peace officers and

called them "partner". We relied upon them; depended

upon their might, and their aid. Surely they have

not forsaken us.

You called them "Brothers." You called them "Sisters."

They watch over us still ~~ and we Honor them today.

In Memory of Deputy Canine Ed

The four-legged crime fighter was an active member of the

Cass County Sheriff’s Office for 13 years, starting his career

in April of 2008.

Ed assisted in many narcotics-related cases removing drug

traffickers from our region and assisted on multiple searches

for wanted individuals or missing persons, all in an effort

to keep our community safe. Deputy Dan Hermann

was Ed’s only handler throughout Ed’s career. Ed had a

tremendous drive and displayed that each and every day

Deputy Hermann and he went out the door to work.

In Ed’s free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family,

going on family trips, and jumping in the lake to cool off in

the heat of the summer.

We would like to honor Deputy K-9 Ed’s commitment to

this office, this community, and the family he loved so

dearly. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office would like to

thank the entire Hermann family for their dedication and

care for Ed over the years.
